It just doesn't seem prudent to post what she does on FB considering what's happened to her in the past. That is the coward way out. Being seen in public shows your stalker that you do not fear them. Been there, done that. I survived by staying out in the public eye and not chained to a sofa in a dark house.
One who is afraid of stalkers does not mean that one needs to stay in his/her house. But, one who is fearful of stalkers certainly does not post where he/she is at many moments of the day. There is huge difference.
I don't do FB but from what I read here, it sounds like Lisa posts way too much information on FaceBook. Just my opinion, but she did have a stalker or stalkers.

I don't think that line appealed to a large percentage of QVC watchers. I thought some items were pretty but would never wear them.

When Bob Bowersox left there was a lot of speculation and a lot of posts about him. I know he was not as popular as Lisa, but eventually viewers and posters will move on. I'm sure some reading this are saying "Who is Bob Bowersox?" He was one of QVC's first hosts and did the "in the Kitchen" shows for years.

As to Lisa, I hope she's writing a book, a tell all - a behind the scenes look of the TV retail business. I'd buy it.On 1/20/2015 winamac1 said:On 1/20/2015 LipstickDiva said:Win, Claire is Claire Watts, former CEO of QVC.
Thanks! I'm so out of the loop. I think there's a connection there between Lisa leaving and CW's departure--especially if they were friends and confidants.
Eactly, win. As gardensla stated, sometimes when a new person takes over you can lose your footing. Changes are made for the sake of change. I often refer to it as "a dog marking its territory".
LOL to these last comments....yeah I think that dog has marked many a territory all across this Land!

It was zapped almost instantaneously, magic.

So I missed the big reveal?
That figures.

Lisa posted she had a meeting at Bergdorf's the other day. Naturally she has something lined up and with all her crazy hours she had on QVC after twenty years, who could blame her for moving on. Most likely she simply got an offer she couldn't refuse. ;-)

Oh yea, the male dog syndrome... Unfortunately, in the work world it isn't only the male dogs... or the big dogs... lifting their legs next to every tree... Too often one finds women trying to prove they have a pair as prodigious as any man, and then there are the lower level workers either trying to climb the ladder or otherwise carve out a comfortable niche for themselves, who succumb to the 'power trip'...
I don't though, think this is the case here. While I'd not doubt for a moment that corporate changes and intrigue might well have had a part in Lisa's decision, even a newbie marking their turf generally has limits and one has to assume that forcing out a highly productive employee and one with a significant customer following in a heavily media-involved industry would not likely be given carte blanche by top management...
As for Ms. Watts, I don't know if she's found other work or not... Over time, one does begin to wonder if she might not have been a convenient scapegoat for whatever woes the domestic operation has encountered. It was very easy to blame her for the awful directions QVC-US has pursued in recent years, and perhaps she was the impetus behind them... Just as possible is that she had to work within certain parameters established at a higher level... Certainly, we've not seen QVC move in any bold or interesting new directions since she left...
It also seems that her precise position was not filled, but that rather duties were split across a number of other existing QVC executives, which, if accurate, would tend not to support the notion that the new guy (or woman) in charge wanted to set their own ground rules...
stevie, just because a "new hire" did not assume Claire Watts' responsibilities, that doesn't mean the current employees assuming those responsibilities wanted the status quo. Or, perhaps they have been given the mandate to make the very changes that have/will result in staffing change. One cannot assume this does not support my opinion.
And as I said, I have little doubt that changes in the hierarchy at QVC did play a role in Lisa's decision. I just don't think they were the only consideration, nor do I buy that she was 'forced out'...
As for revised management not being happy with the status quo, Watts has now been gone since September and I can't honestly see where there's been much deviation or positive movement from 'business as usual'... Certainly, the continuous dreadful weekend programming is no indication of a perception that the status quo needs an overhaul...
It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, develops...
And as for Lisa, regardless of the contributing factors, the net result is she's flown the coop...

Because it is interesting
And why not...
I'd also add I do think there was some level of ill-will around her departure... Some seem to think Lisa was given some grand send-off. She wasn't. Her holiday 'Posh' show wasn't necessarily intended as a 'farewell' party. She and QVC schedule that show every year. It seems a decision was made somewhere by someone that this year it would also be her final show... All of the well wishes and 'fare-the-wells' were tendered by other hosts and vendors, but at no time did 'corporate' issue so much as a one line expression of well wishes... No one from 'corporate' appeared, even so much as for ten seconds' on the very short video that was shown during 'Posh', and there is a sense that her last air date represented some kind of negotiation that had her remaining at QVC through the bulk of the critical holiday shopping season. Her departure was handled professionally by both parties, and while Lisa clearly did solid work until the end and gave away nothing in the way of any negativity that might have existed, I don't think TPTB were happy with her choice to fold up her tent and go home.
at a snail's pace.
That fast huh...? I'm not even sure of that! Duller than dishwater and getting more so every day...

Sometimes we believe our own publicity and think we are the finest thing since Mountain Dew. Unfortunately, this is not true. We're all replaceable and quite easily. The Q was showing lousy products before Lisa left and is still showing c rap with her gone. They've replaced her with less than no trouble but to shove a few things around. Lisa's popularity will dwindle, b/c it came from her selling Q products and that was the main interest. I do believe she's attempted to hold on to her fans, but don't believe that will last long. The interest was in the products, her controversial self and being seen regularly.
I've heard explanations for the Gili line, and the explanation is it was the Q's posh line idea and their designs of expensive products. And, they're continuing the line. I believe Lisa was hoping her fans would cause the Q to call her back. Not in today's work environment and competiveness. And there's nothing more completive than selling.
