There's been a wide variety of bomber jackets on different sites such as Nordstrom's, Dillard's, Macy's, etc. They come in velvet, florals, satin, lace, embroidered, faux suede, light weight, faux leather, etc. Like many other trends, I think they started with a youthful market in mind. Maybe they're a modern take on the 80's. Didn't Madonna wear one in the movie "Desperately Seeking Susan"? Living on the west coast, a light bomber jacket would come in handy like a cardigan in spring and summer, but I don't know if I'll buy one. Would you buy a bomber jacket this spring?

I am 72 and I have several.  They are a plain color and dressier fabrics.  I wear them with slacks and jeans over longer tops with scarves or button front shirt with statement necklace and comfortable shoes.   Being retired I seldom dress up but like to be comfortable and look nice for shopping and lunch with friends.  We are all busy with family, especially grandchildren, so we treat our outings as a special day to catch up and have fun together.

My opinion is that trends will always come and go, but usually items that are just hitting the market at any given time are simply a re-visualization of previous.

A banded bottom on a bomber jacket/ a longer version now called a trophy jacket (baseball-style) or simply a cropped jacket are all great choices right now.

I have one, it's a very soft leather with a knit band around the bottom and sleeve cuffs. Have had it forever and love it, no plans to part with it, but don't want any more than this one.

@Desert Lily

The Bomber Jacket is a classic .....  updated every now and then by trying a new fabric.

Over the years, I've had Bombers in light champagne denim, pale yellow linen, metallic nylon in bronze, royal blue micro fleece and jade green pinwale corduroy.   Years ago I bought one in blue denim with some jewel trim.   They are SO versatile!

To answer your question .... YES .....   they are a classic.   Looks good with skirts, dresses and slacks .... you name it!

Personally, NO............but I am kinda built like a teenage boy, so I have to be careful about looking "too masculine"....................

@Desert Lily, I would if I needed another jacket.  Guess what?  I'm not young.  I believe people should wear what makes them happy!

I bought a really nice one for spring about six years ago when I was a stylist for Dillards.  Looks good with dress jeans and boots.
