That Which We Call A Rose ...

[ Edited ]

... By any other name would smell as sweet (Shakespeare)

In other words you can call a "rose" a "boot", but it's still a rose.

And a Sweatshirt is still a Sweatshirt.

(remember those fuzzy sweatshirts we wore b4 French Terry came on the scene? now the fuzzy sweatshirt fabric is special)

And Sweatpants are still Sweatpants.

Here are a few examples I found looking online.

Notice that some sweatshirts have matching sweatpants in the pictures; other matchables may be on the retailer's website.

Hi @Franklinbell  I accidentally hit "Post" before I was finished, when my furbaby wanted me to take her out. Oops. Lol. I likely posted several more examples since your view. : )

When I choose a sweatshirt for cold weather wear, the only one I'll consider is the one with the fuzzy fleece inside.

I bought four dandy ones on Amazon last winter,  my seasonal at-home wardrobe.

@Kachina624  Even though I have way too many sweaters, like you, when the weather gets cold I like the softness of a fuzzy sweatshirt more & wear them often. I also like the softness of velour in the cold months.

Re: That Which We Call A Rose ...

What goes around comes around again in fashion. Sometimes the details, fabric, or names are different, but there are only so many silhouettes out there.

Of all the items posted the only one I really like is the navy striped zip top, but it's so oversized. I know that's a trend and vibe in these kinds of pieces, but it's just not my style.

I've never really loved sweatshirts. Back in the day they all had banded bottoms, and I didn't like that. They didn't have zippers either which made them difficult to get off and on over my head. I also didn't like sweatpants back then because most of them had tight cuffs at the ankles. I haven't changed my mind about these style details. Still don't like them.

I prefer a crewneck sweater or a long sleeve tee instead of a sweatshirt. I have casual hoodies and various jackets with zippers or buttons I can wear too. I do like knit pants sometimes for lounging around the house, but I still don't want that elastic banded cuff at the pant hem.

I'm not sure I understand the issue - are these sweatshirts and sweatpants being called something else by other retailers?

I like the brown set. Not because that it's in style right now because it's fall, it's just a classic color that never goes out of style. The prices are fantastic. By the way, the rose is my favorite flower!  and...I love the name, Lily because it's mine!  Smiley Happy

Re: That Which We Call A Rose ...

I want the sweatshirts of the past, thick, heavy and very warm, not the plastic thin stretch of today.
