Hey ~ Lately I have read some threads here about terrible smells in clothing, handbags, etc. So, I wanted to share this with you ~

Today I bought some men's shirts (Van Heusen). Attached was a tag from OEKO TEX ~ Tested for harmful substances.

The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a globally uniform testing and certification system which contains more than 100 testing parameters for textile raw materials, intermediate, and end use products at all stages of production. It's aim is to ensure products are free of harmful substances. We are proud to advise that this product has been tested and certified in accordance with the Owko-Tex Standard 100 requirements.

Hoping other companies join the band wagon, and we begin to see~smell less chemicals in our shopping bags.

If you want to change the tenor of your interactions, you must become aware of the impact of your words...Karen Casey

Re: Textiles And Bad Smells ~

Cuddledown is a company that sells many products that are Okeo-Tex certified as well.This is a company out of Maine{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}.Many of their product are made there,some are not!

I just ordered a new comforter for our bed and was thrilled it was free of so many harmful chemicals...and made in the USA!

Maybe we are finally catching a clue...we are killing ourselves with all of these chemicals.{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Stay healthy everyone.

Besides chemical smells, some leather items such as handbags, shoes, and belts have a decided MUSTY smell. Wonder where and how they were shipped!

Re: Textiles And Bad Smells ~

I just bought a bedspread (made in China) and washed it first in warm water but it still has a faint chemical smell. Next time I'm automatically putting tea tree oil in the machine when I wash it, that does take the smell away.
