I love plaid, but to me it's too much.  Either the coat/jacket OR the jumpsuit would be just right to me.

 She really is a lovely young woman, and dresses beautifully.

I love that entire outfit.  It's giving me some ideas because I have pointy toe plaid flats in that same plaid.  Bought them, never wore them.  I would never go head to toe paid but my shoes with wide leg plaid pants and black turtleneck....I'd do that.

Solid black pants would break up the plaid. I love the plaid coat.

I heard about her Mom, very sad news. Her father had cancer too.
