I have clothes in polyester (often mixed with other fabrics) that are very nice.  Soft, draping, retain their color and wash and wear well.

I think people just associate polyester with the old days and things have come a long way since then.

As with everything, there are always different grades of quality.

If that dress was cotton it would be so wrinkled and it wouldn't be the right material for the structure needed for the dress.

There are very high end expensive polyester fabrics

I saw the movie today and all her Eras tour gowns and outfits are just stunning on film. That big lavender Enchanted gown was breathtaking.
