Tankini bathing suits

I have always worn one piece bathing suits but I was watching a presentation of a 2 pice Tankini with swim shorts. I have a question about actually swimming in this style suit. What keeps the top in place at your waistline? I am concerned about getting in the pool and having water get under the top causing it to float up from your body. Is this a problem with this style suit???
