Talbots British Theme Attn: Dulwich

[ Edited ]

@dulwich   To Dulwich and our other British or Anglophile posters--

Go to Talbots web site which will be Talbots.com and click on New Arrivals.  Then click on Accessories under the New Arrivals and you'll see a lot of London-themed products. There's a wonderful tote!   I saw a new bar pin at T's the other day with all London charms on it - it was very cute and well done (T's does enamel quite well).

Everything is 25% off in that new merchandise section - that discount is in red.

Sorry I can't post links here.

I have a tote made from that material ,I I just love it.

I want the sweater with the 3 crowns too, and maybe the white shirt with the crowns

I love the London city print blouse.   @dulwich - you need to look at shirts and blouses too; actually everything under the new arrivals.  I started you off with Accessories because I thought the tote and jewelry was cute (London scarves too!)  but that blouse cherry got is adorable.  I may try that on at a store today, since I have to go to T's.

There are parties at two of our Ts tomorrow for a trunk show of the new items so I'll get to see all that new London stuff.

@dulwich  You are welcome; I thought of you immediately.  Please pick up the newest catalog (paper) from T's which has a red double-decker bus on the cover.  Inside a model is carrying a British flag umbrella - I wonder if T's will be selling it?  If so, you need that!  It shows all the London merchandise I think.

I'm probably not going to the trunk show today but I did go to T's yesterday and I'm loving the entire London collection - I wanted everything I saw .  The tote is absolutely adorable!  I actually bought two things at the 25% off because they fit me so well and looked so darn cute; one is the London  City Print blouse that @cherry ordered. It's so cute.  But be careful - I tried two of them on that had completely different placement prints (i.e. the bolt of fabric was cut so that each of the blouses had different parts of the print showing in different places).  Both were cute but I bought the one that has Big Ben on the front a few times. On the other one I tried on, Big Ben was only on the back and not much recognizeable (in terms of being famous) was on the front.  I wanted Big Ben on the front!  So where each printed image on the blouse will vary per each blouse.  This is why I need to go to stores to try things on.  The background of the blouse is a lovely ecru (off white -definitely not white) color that I really like for fall.

I also purchased a painterly striped background 3/4 tee that says London on it and has a few images on it.  On the Talbots site  it's called Stripe Destination Tee and it's very cute and comfy on. (Dulwich, I hope you take a look at it).   One reason I bought it at 25% off instead of waiting is that I tried on two in my size, and one fit perfectly and is very flattering and one was an entire size larger!  I had to look at the size inside twice to believe it was even marked the same size.    In fact, I usually don't make purchases from T at "only" 25% off but I wanted these two particular items - the ones I tried on and preferred, rather than perhaps never finding that same placement print I liked in the blouse again - even if I try on 30 more.  Same thought for the top - I loved the way this one fit and knew, with a trunk show today and a lot of customers shopping, I'd risk losing both pieces.

All that said, I talked to the manager and asked: will there be a 40% off one item coupon for Labor Day weekend (those often crop up during holidays).  And she said she'd recently seen a notice for it and thinks it is for Labor Day weekend.  So,  if you have your heart set on anything, you may want to wait til then.  I think I won't wear either of these two garments and may re-buy them at 40% off (I'll be emailed the coupon so I can repeat use it at different stores) and just return the seond ones I buy  using that receipt.  That way, I get the placement print I want on the blouse and the exact fit I want on the tee and I'll get 40% off by returning the second purchases using my first receipt.  Shhhhhh - don't tell.  I may also purchase the tote at 40% off.

ETA:  I tried on the white blouse with black crowns all over it too and I thought the sweater with three crowns on it is very cute (didn't try on a sweater - it was too hot!) The black and white blouse with the crowns is part of their wrinkle resistant line and therefore a fairly substantial weight and $10 more (I like their wrinkle resistant blouses).   It's a cute black and white staple, esp. to wear underneath sweaters that have black or white in them or gingham, etc.  but I'm leaving that one til later for a clearance sale or something with a huge reduction.  It would be nice to have in my wardrobe, but the very cute London city scene blouse was irresisible.

@Pearlee  You sound like you are having so much fun shopping!  I too love the City Print blouse - you made some great purchases.

Unfortunately I am 250 miles away from any shopping malls so will not be able to pick up their catalog - - but first week of Sept  moving back to N.California so will once again be within striking distance of malls if needed.

Will definitely check out the T shirt you mention.

Have a good day and thank you for your good information as always a great help.

@cherry  In person I thought the sweater looks very  classy and unusual.  It's more understated than a lot of things, but still makes a statement (if that makes any sense! )
