There is a new "handbag" company on Evine today. All of their products are made in the USA from recycled military items, mostly textiles and leathers. Some profits go to support military charities. I think they are super cute, especially like the camo offerings. This one is army green on the outside with some camo on the interior.

Re: Sword and Plough on Evine

Did they mention what percentage of the proceeds would be donated? As a former military kid I like the idea a great deal but hope it is a significant level and not just a marketing strategy. Having said that, I love this little number:

Did they mention if they are hiring veterans to work there. That would really be the important thing - to provide jobs for vets.

Taken directly from the Evine website:

What makes Sword & Plough different?
This unique brand recycles thousands of pounds of military surplus material that would otherwise be thrown away and turns it into something beautiful that both men and women can appreciate - quality bags. They combine durable fabrics with leather accents and incorporate them into fashionable designs that will perfectly fit your needs, whether you're going away for the weekend or going out for the night. They work with U.S. manufacturers that are owned or partially staffed by veterans, to promote a civil-military bond. Sword & Plough products are made in USA with an incredible amount of pride, proving that this company has a sustainable and social impact on fashion. Now these are bags worth investing in!

About the Collection
Empower veteran employment, reduce landfill waste and strengthen our shared military understanding with Sword & Plough – unique, veteran-made accessories crafted in the United States from military surplus supplies. Repurposed for a purpose, each rugged and refined piece is made out of elements including tents, sleeping bag covers, uniform fabrics and more.

As a veteran-owned company, a portion of all Sword & Plough profits is donated to organizations supporting our courageous men and women in uniform.

The S&P website says they donate 10% of after-tax profits. Also from their own site:

Sword & Plough is also proud to support charitable organizations by donating product to be auctioned in fundraisers. Our product donations have helped recipients raise thousands of dollars through blind and live auctions.

The majority of our product donations go to organizations that directly impact veterans. S&P also donates product to events that can raise general public awareness about veterans’ issues and the civil-military divide. To date, we have donated over $10,000 worth of product to the following charity fundraisers and auctions:

+ Operation Finally Home
+ 3rd & Goal Foundation
+ Puppy Jake Foundation
+ Fort Carson Giveaway
+ Paramount Strength & Conditioning
+ Got Your 6 Oscar Rehearsal PSAs (a series of nationally broadcasted Public Service Announcements by Hollywood celebrities to raise public awareness of veterans’ issues)
+ Rocky Mountain Human Services
+ Navy Seal Foundation
+ Healing Warriors Program Golden Ticket Event
+ MOAA Military Spouse Symposia
+ The Headstrong Project - Words of War Gala
