I brought out my winter sweaters and discovered that a couple of them look just horrid. They really pilled a lot last season. There are tons of little balls all over.
Have any of you been able to save a sweater that has pilled so much they just look sad and embarassed to wear? I've heard of people using a rasor to cut them off? Or even there is a special gadget to remove the pilled balls? Any experience doing either? I would really appreciate any feedback since I would love to be able to save these sweaters, make them look good again for at least another winter. Thank you!

Just look for a sweater shaver, or sometimes they're called fabric shavers or defuzzers. It's a palm-size devivce that you skim over the surface of the garment. It is a sort of razor. Just Google it & you can find retailers who sell it- Amazon, Walmart, Target, QVC used to have them but I don't know if they still do. I don't recommend trying to use a razor blade or face/leg razor because you risk cutting into the fiber.

I bought an inexpensive one at Jo Ann's fabrics with the Sunday paper coupon discount too. Works like a charm - takes off the pils in no time and the sweater looks 100% better. If you do it right the sweater isn't damaged at all.

I use a 'sweater stone'.
Check out the reviews on Amazon.

I have a gadget called Gleener that works great. Before I bought that I used d.fuzz.it sweater and fabric comb which also worked well. QVC used to carry the Gleener but try Amazon if it is no longer available.

@MacDUFF This is exactly what mine looks like too except mine is a beigy color.
This is so funny - my mom one year bought one for me & my 2 sibs oh so MANY years ago for christmas. She's always buy us great little gadgets like this. One year we each got a clothes lint remover too.
ANd yes I've seen the sweater shaver in my BB&B too - a great gadget to have and it works very well. I still have both of these gadgets! They're almost as old as I am (62)!!!
