Some of the stores (Target & Nordstrom that I know of) are starting to offer their own debit cards. The price comes out of your checking account but you get a discount for using their card.

Be aware that in my experience they take longer to go thru your account. When I used my Target debit card, it didn't get deducted for over a week. One of the reason I like using a debit card is that the purchase is paid for right away and I always know exactly how much money I have left to spend.
