Back at the start of fall HSN had a Sporto white puffer coat for $50 and it was machine washable. I got it and it was really cute. Started wearing it this winter and it got dirty on the cuffs and I also spilled coffee on it. Yesterday I thought I would wash it and when I took it out of the machine (washed it per the instructions on tag) the inside lining on the hood was shredded and the insulation was hanging out. The hood is not removable it is a permanent part of the coat. I was shocked and it also is way beyond return of 30 days. I was thinking about Susan Gravers puffer coat. The SG coat looks a lot like the Sporto, just a little longer. I got a lot of compliments on the Sporto coat. It is nylon, but it feels like a cross between nylon and a plastic bag feel, and that was the only thing that had me wondering about the Sporto coat durability and I guess I found out!! Anyone have the SG puffer and really like it? I would like it in white, that is the color of the Sporto puffer.

Re: Sporto puffer coat from HSN

There is a review under the TSV SG Puffer coat and the lady said she had to wash it because the UPS driver apparently smoked a lot. It turned out OK per the review. I have the SG puffer coat in black but I have not washed it yet. I do not expect to have any issues though.

Re: Sporto puffer coat from HSN

I received a catalog from Chadwick's (of Boston) yesterday and saw a puffer coat in it that looked exactly like the one SG sold the other day. Had a fur edged detachable hood, the pattern of stitching was exactly the same angular design, same length, pockets placed same way.

Made me want to go "hhmmm".

I would call HSN and insist they allow you to return your coat.

I agree. They more than likely will stand behind their return policy on this one! If this happened to you, others probably had the same issues too.

I do not think you will have any trouble returning your coat. HSN is good about standing behind their products.

Was it purchased during the extended return period.

I never thought of that, but it was purchased during the extended period. Thanks for reminding me. I will try to return it.

Check out these coats from L.L. Bean, on sale. You can return anything at any time, so while it's more expensive, the quality is better than what you experienced.

There is a white quilted version also (I have it in pink and I love it.)

I agree with lola. If you plan on wearing it more than one season it's worth it to spend the extra money on a coat that will last more than one washing.

Yes, I agree also. I was a little leary but it did look ok when I got it. Never thought it would fall apart so quickly. I did however have to send back a watch and bangle set from RJ Graziano because the gunmetal plate rubbed off in about 2 weeks and made my wrist break out. I haven't had very good luck with HSN, and I thought it was a fluke, but after this I think it is definitely a quality issue. lolakimono, I love the white coat, I order slippers from LL Bean and love them (me and my husband) and have a coupon I could use on the coat.
