Someone Over 40 Should Not Wear These. . .

. . . according to Yahoo! style. Do you agree?

1. Ill-fitting clothes

2. Bare midriffs

3. Hoodies

4. Baseball caps worn backwards

5. Baggy or saggy pants

6. Fanny packs

7. Band, graphic, or logo T-shirts

8.Full-on prints

9. Shredded denim

Not sure I agree with #8. They advise you to wear full prints in accessories. I have some printed tops and dresses I love, and I'm not going to give them up! Smiley Wink

I'm under 40 but I hope I never get to the age when someone tries to tell me what I can and cannot wear.  I wear what I want, when I want, whenever I want.  Do what makes you happy.  Don't live your life being dictated by others.

@beach-momJust over 40 is not that old.  If the woman is very fit, I don't she why she can't wear midriff exposed tops if she is at the beach or on a picnic.  Everyone should wear hoodies!  I think the whole list except for #1 should be deleted.  Now I am in my mid 60's and you won't see me bare midriffs, baggy clothes, fanny packs or shredded denim.  The women of today are much younger in mind and a lot healthier so they do dress younger.  You need to know what is acceptable for your age and also if you feel comfortable in it - go for it.  Now I don't agree with women 40 and over shopping in the Junior section at Nordstroms.  HeartCat Happy

@I am still oxox - I read somewhere years ago that hoodies were for the young only. At that time, I got rid of mine. Then I got caught on vacation and ended up buying one to keep warm. I still have it, and I've added to my "collection" of hoodies since! The article said wearing hoodies "screams of high school angst or street-inspired urban swagger." But I think there are some cute hoodies that would never be mistaken for that! Smiley Wink

I still wear #3 hoodies

I wear #4 bball caps - but not backwards

I disagree with #7 - I say rock your band tees

I still wear #9, but lightly distressed

#1 and #6 should go for all ages LOL

#2 I am not a prude and could get away with baring my midriff, but don't think appropriate in most cases. So situational is my feeling.

#5 baggy is fine, especially if going for comfort. It's not the same as #1 (ill-fitting) - to me anyways.

#8 I dont personally care for, just not for me/my style

I am 42 btw

I'm 58 and wear the same items as @I am still oxox

I also wear cut-off shorts.  Even bare midrif (in the house & yard only)

I would rather see a hoodie than someone trying to be some on they are not. I know a 40ish woman who insists on wearing a bikini with gym shorts on top of the bottom. If you want to still wear a two piece get a skirted bottom. Personally her days of wearing a two piece are long gone.

I'm 63 and wear hoodies.  Mine are Logo and have lace & chiffon.

I didn't wear them in high shool since they weren't popular back in the early 1970s.  I think if they fit well I don't see what the  problem is.

ETA:  I will wear a baseball cap on the beach to keep the sun out of my eyes.
