Do you wear a lot of solid white tops this time of year?
I don't wear solid white tops very often. When I do, I rarely wear them on their own. Many are too sheer and see through. Even with a bra close to my skin tone, I feel a bit exposed. 😱 I tried putting a camisole or tank top under them, but I didn't like the way the 2 layers felt or looked.
I usually end up layering my solid white tops under pullover sweaters, cardigans, jackets, or blazers when I wear them. That's more my style, but still, not my favorite look. Many times, I change my mind, take off the white top, and wear a different top in a color or print.
When the trend of wearing plain white tees under blazers started years ago, I thought that might be a contemporary look for me. It would allow me to wear the blazers I love in a more casual way. Well, I tried, but I didn't like the look at all. I felt totally underdressed. I think a plain white tee reminds me of men's undershirts, and I felt like I wasn't completely dressed. 🥴
I shouldn't buy anymore white tops since I don't wear them often, but I bought a new white button front short sleeve blouse with embroidery on sale a couple weeks ago. 🙄 I guess I keep thinking I will find the perfect white top to wear on its own in the summer heat. Time will tell if I end up wearing it, or if it just sits in my closet like the other solid white tops I rarely wear. Might be time to let them all go. 🤔
Anobody else feel this way about solid white tops?
Maybe I'm just "different". That's ok. I'm a firm believer in "Wear what you love, and ignore the rest."
I hope Everyone has a Wonderful Week! 🌈

I usually wear a cotton camisole under all my tops. If my white top is a little thin, it's not a issue.

Yes ... mostly solid white tops. They are a wardrobe staple for me (along with black tops).
I'm wearing one right now with dark indigo jeans. I have summer weight and winter weight. I have them in lots of different fabrics, but none of the fabrics are sheer (my bras are all flesh colored). White is one of my "good" colors.
If you open my closet door - you'll see about four feet of hangers with white tops .... sleeveless, short sleeve and long sleeve, crew neck and turtleneck.

I don't think I even own a solid white top. I'd just get a stain on it. I have one buttondown white stripe shirt if needed. It's narrow stips of variations of white, so not s solid one-color white. I also don't own any white pants for the same reason.

I like a good solid white tee or top.

I love a solid white crisp top. Stains and normal wear, I replace every year or two. Wear at least one or two per week.

My go to summer top is white. I have many, many white tops. I like a good button down white shirt. If the top is sheer I wear a camisole under it. Each shirt is slightly different in material and style.

I forced myself to wear a white top/t-shirt recently. I had not worn one in YEARS. Since I have a few, I should wear them once in awhile. I guess I think they just make me look bigger, and I don't need any help with that. I think they look nice on other women though.

@wilma I don't purchase white tops. I don't think I look good in them. I tend toward off white, ecru, etc.
There is always so much talk about the crisp, white button down tops being a staple for every wardrobe. This has never been my mantra. When I have tried them on, I always felt like a pharmacist or doctor...lol. I have seen them on others and it looks fine.
I have tried on T shirts with blazers and couldn't get the look I wanted. I tend to wear tanks under a blazer.....but not white.
