@kaydee50 wrote:Completely agree with previous posters. What retailer has items for more than a year in inventory?? QVC has items for decades, e.g, obi belt, ratkill coat, washable suede jacket. I don't understand their marketing strategy. IMO they're trying to be something they're not, i.e, a high end retailer.
and there is nothing wrong with being a mid-level or mass market retailer

Perhaps, QVC needs a Konmari or Hoarders intervention.

@rms1954 Guess the husband would pay for it? Mine wouldn’t have!

Mine might but one can't assume that just because you have a husband makes life any easier. People make useless assumptions. It astounds me that someone would think QVC needs to consider the personal needs of what peoples incomes are.

They must have really large warehouses to store all of these things in. I would think it would be better to lower the prices on clothing items which have been hanging around a long time and still be making a profit and make room for fresh new things. What does happen with things that they eventually cannot or do not sell do you suppose? Just curious.
That is one thing that I do like about Marshall's. After a bit, they do drastically reduce a lot of really nice quality items. And they are always having new and different things coming in.

Count your blessings. In the old days nothing ever got a real markdown. At least there seems to be a computer program of reductions when necessary. I remember when clearance prices lasted for two days and went back to original price. I like their policy of taking certain colors down more than others, the ones that didn't sells as well. I've started putting a couple things on wish list that are more than I'm confortable paying. For example the Laurie Felt flowered duster just hit markdown the other day, and in the color I wanted. There is a sale they woulds not have had.

From what I've always noticed about QVC, is they seem to only discount the trendy clothing, and not by all that much. Most of what they carry are basics. They just keep all that around and add more colors. I guess it's the colors that make it new again. Not sure what the exact sales strategy is, but there is plenty of competition on clothing and shoes out in the market. I personally don't care at all for clothing or shoes on HSN, but they tend to do big markdowns.
