Am I the only woman disgusted with maxi dresses always being sleeveless? Some are so cute, light and perfect for a hot summer day.......I cannot wear sleeveless. Isaac had one last night, perfect...except.

Would it kill one of the designers to make a maxi with a longer-than-normal short sleeve or better yet, an elbow sleeve?

That's why I look for shrugs or gauze big shirt cover ups.

Re: Sleeveless Maxi Dresses

[ Edited ]

I live in the South, it is already hot and humid here and the last thing I want to wear is a long sleeve, 3/4 sleeve maxi dress....air conditioning is not that cold---with the hot air coming in the store/restaurant as the automatic doors open and close, neither is a movie theater crowded with warm bodies.....sure when you first step in they feel cool, but the body quickly adjusts an these placess are downright warm......

To each their own depending on their climate---BUT QVC needs to give us in the warmer parts of the country clothing options too. The MAJORITY of QVC's clothing brands seems created for only those that live in the north and northeast, BUT QVC customers live in warmer climates too---you can always add a shrug, sweater or jacket if you are cold .....Woman Frustrated

If I were a designer I would just automaticaqlly make a shrug to match any sleeveless maxi dress, esp.if they were in plus sizes, as they would sell like hotcakes if made that way. Those who are always cold need the cover up in AC and those who are larger size often want to cover their arms. i am pretty certain that a maxi with elbow sleeves would not be very attractive to most women but if it came with a shrug or the matching shrug was offered as an additional item - SOLD.

Personally I don't like to go sleeveless so I own a black and a white crochetted shrug and that pretty much covers all my needs.

Well, alot of us want sleeves. Not because we're cold but because we want to hide the upper arms. We don't want another layer which is what a shrug would add as in the summer that's just too much unless the room is cold! Even a sleeve halfway down the upper arm would be nice. Too many sleeveless or cap sleeves IMHO.

If you put 'short sleeve maxi dress' in the search engine right here at the Q several options pop up.  One I found is a Halston with a very light 3/4 sleeve that might work for some: A276850.

I have learned never to order sleeveless items as I hate wearing a shrug, do not like wearing them, do not like the look.  I've tried, I've given up on shrugs and boleros.  I feel like a teapot with a tea cozy.....!

I will order a tank because it is a layering piece to wear under jackets and cardi's and adds little bulk or warmth.

No to short sleeves or sleeveless.  I want elbow sleeves, which can be very sleek and pretty, or 3/4 sleeves that I can wear as is or push up to my elbows.

When I was young and thin and even had a tan I wore sleeveless dresses, sleeveless and halter style maxi dresses, and tees with little flutter sleeves or very short sleeves, much as they are showing now (yesterday's lace Isaac TSV, e.g.) but no more.  I do wish we would have more of a selection.

I would buy dresses if they had sleeves!

I personally prefer sleeveless but I know that Nikki Poulos has some pretty maxis with sleeves on HSN.

I can understand being disappointed that there are not as many sleeveless maxi dresses that you would like. Personally, I would like more short sleeved and sleeveless summer clothes, and am disappointed that there seem to be hundreds of 3/4 and long sleeved clothes presented as spring and summer fashion. Here in the Houston area I would never consider those for this time of the year, even with the "air conditioned theaters and restaurants" the hosts are always talking about. However, I am not disgusted about this. I save that emotion for most things I read about in the news!
