Re: Sizing of Bras --- How do you get a good fit?

Angelpuppy1, good luck with the bra shopping.  Please report back to us if you find something wonderful. If it becomes too frustrating as long as you're in the lingerie department, treat yourself to a pretty nightgown or decadent piece of lingerie to sooth your mood. Woman Wink

Re: Sizing of Bras --- How do you get a good fit?

@AngelPuppy1 -  I know we all have different budgets but we all budget. I just care more about that $150 bra than I do about new jewelry or handbags or even new cars.  Pretty sad when you think I'm the only one who sees it!!!

But if I couldn't occasionally buy my favorite bra, I'd  buy the one from Dillards I buy in everyday quantities.  It's closer in price to Breezies, but works so much better for me.   I can't wear everything from Dillards; in fact, only one works for me just as with that expensive brand and it's better for me than anything I've tried elsewhere at more than twice the price.

I found both the bras I favor only by going and trying on myriad choices and I still prefer to buy in person where a good fitter can make suggestions.

Re: Sizing of Bras --- How do you get a good fit?

 i could go braless but it seems headlights are a societal faux pas these days.  i despise those cushion padded contraptions that add two cup sizes. i hate underwires so i found Hanes no wire styles the most comfy. i like beige bras with a soft but lined cup and no scratchy lace . there's a bit opf support built into the cup to keep you perky

Bra cup sizes  are not standardized over brands. another issue is the cup sizes are almost all the same size on band sizes and if you are a 34 you get these over-sized cups covering your chest .  too much coverage

another issue is the length of the band.  the 36" band can be 32", 34"  or 36"  . if the band is too short and you go up a band size, the cups gape.  the best comfy bras were a Bestform style they made 10 years ago and i wear those at home.

I gave all that up years ago, when I bought my first Genie bra.  Since then, I've purchased similar styles in other brands.  Comfy, sized in S-M-L-XL, and adjust to your shape.

Love them.  Not sure what I will do when they stop making this style - which, alas, they probably will.

Buy them while they have them!  My favorite bra from Warners was discontinued and I haven't found a bra as comfortable since

then😢

@AKgirl2

I've worn Warners for most of my life.  And yes, mine were discontinued awhile back, too.  I feel your pain.

Interesting topic this holiday week-end!  For most of my younger adult life I wore the same  bra in the same size!  Then one day when I was in my 50's that bra just was not doing the job any longer!  My body was changing and nothing was in the same place anymore!   I started a search in the B&M stores trying on about 10 bras in each place!  I found I had gone up one size in band and cup even though my weight was about 10 lbs. less than my younger days!  I discovered l Breezies bra that was good for every day wear but now they no longer make it!Woman Frustrated  I have found a fair replacement but I am still always searching!!  I blame gravity!!!Woman Wink

@Newgate

Always check on Ebay!   Just now I did a search for Breezies Bra (located in the U.S.) and there are 4,678 auctions.   Give that style a try with a search.

Interesting thread. I've always had trouble finding bras that fit. I just went online and found instructions for measuring for a proper. It says I'm a 34AA. . lol. . No wonder I gave up a few years ago and started wearing Genie bras -- WITH the pads. The Bali Smartsize that someone mentioned sounds interesting too.

I was surprised that I found and bought a bra from Amazon -- using their reviews!

The style I prefer has a front closure; thin padding; straps do not slide off the shoulder.

The cup size is way huger than the band size (which every review stated) ... so I went up two band sizes and down 1 cup size. Perfect fit!

@LTT1

Glad you found your perfect bra!

I have one Warner's bra that is not bad but it is not the best in fit.

I have a feeling that if I ever do get a fitting, that I will be some oddball size!!!

Yes, how true!  Even if you don't have a substantial weight gain or loss, things just don't fit the same!!!
