Checking measurement on button front blouse and the only chest measurement is - front chest 24" - 1.1/2" below armhole - (this is for size large). Question: does this mean chest measurement is 48"? Sorry to be so dumb but this is a new one for me - am I interpreting this correctly? Many thanks.

I have come across this a couple of times.  I assumed like you that the measurement should be doubled which would correspond to my usual size in that brand.  It has worked out for me.  Good luck!

Not a silly question! They should be clearer in the description because sizing is so important. 

To answer your question, yes, double the measurement. They are only giving the measurement across the front, so double it to include the back and that should be about right.
