Shrinking a WK T-Neck?

The tag says to hand wash and lay flat to dry but I was wondering if anybody has ever machine washed and dried their WK's before and if so, what was the result? Does machine washing and drying damage the t-neck? Does machine washing and drying shrink WK's? I need to shrink mine a bit and am looking for advice. Thanks!
