I saw three students in shorts today, and most had "hoodies" as their coats and nothing more. A few had on sandals. The temperature this morning was 16 with a wind chill of -1

I just don't understand it. Do parents not notice that their children are leaving the house dressed this way knowing how cold it is?

Twice this morning, we lost power for about 20 minutes each time. Because my classroom is deep within the building with no windows anywhere close, it was pitch black in my room during the first outage until I could get some flashlights. Not a good situation.

Then, some thoughtful child pulled the fire alarm which forced us all outside for about 15 minutes. Most students had put their hoodies in their lockers and were wearing only jeans and t-shirts, many of them short-sleeved ones. A few were wearing hoodies, and I did see one or two with an actual coat on.
