I am 5 feet tall, which is pretty average for a Petite. I still find that most "petite" pants are too long.
My jeans are all boyfriend/girlfriend styles which are ankle length, but 90% of everything else is too long on me
I am tired of having to hem even petite pants

I look for 25 inch inseams. I have a lot from Martha, Isaac, and Joan that I do not have to hem, also Talbot's and Diane Gillman
I also have to get the arms on blazers tailored. Even the petite sizes seem to have long arms. I frankly ,don't even know anyone ,with arms that long

@I am still oxox I hear you! My adult daughter is the same height and has the same problem. She has to take every pair of petite jeans or trousers she purchases, whether from Nordstrom's, Talbot's or Old Navy to the tailor for hemming.
Conversely, but along the same line, I wear a Misses size 2 short. I am 5'2", but petite sizes are too short in the rise for me. Finding smaller size Misses jeans or trousers in a short length is like searching for a zebra!

Unfortunately, the petite height range is fairly wide, just for a number let's say 4ft11 to 5ft3 or 5ft.4. If you have short legs at any one of those heights, the pants no doubt will be a little long on you. I'm 5ft3 and my legs are not long, but I wear a 28 inseam with flats and a 29 inch inseam with a 2 1/2 in heel.My cousin is 5ft4 and the petite pants do not work for her because the rise is too short. She buys a regular size for the rise and has to cut the pants off several inches before she hems them. I know there are women who are so called" average height" and have to have all their pants hemmed up. I guess the bottom line is, you can't please everyone.

I have both short legs and arms and often have good luck with a girl’s size. The junior sizes often also have a longer inseam, but girl’s are cut for a shorter person.

Another perspective: I'm barely 5'2" and petite pants are too short for me.
It depends on how long your legs are. Not all petite people need petite length pants. However, I would love to see more petite dresses, because in a dress I DO need a petite.

@I am still oxox I have the same issue! I am a hair under 5 ft. Not only are pants an issue but so are tops lately. The length on tops here lately are almost always tunics on people like us. Frankly I find it insulting when a designer tries to sell a garment modeled on a 5'10"woman by saying it works for everyone! I heard one of the hosts say recently "I'm only 5'6" and its good on me" Only 5'6"? ![]()

I am 5'10" and have the opposite problem. Be thankful you can hem pants because I cannot manufacture additional material to make them longer.

Here's another perspective. I'm 5'4" with a 32" inseam. I have to get talls, and often the rise is way too long for me (I have no rear)! Average length is an ankle pant on me.
