Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Wednesday, July 12)

[ Edited ]

Fressa, just when I told you that our gas price was $3.29, it's $3.39 today!  My bf from HS was in our town yesterday and gassed up her Acadia at the lower price.  When we bought our first house in 1970 from my parents,  we did a a project every year for a long time, but we hired builders whom knew what they were doing.  We both were working ft and didn't have the time to do it ourselves.  One year a new kitchen,  new bathroom, all new carpeting, a new garage etc. I did all of the painting and a little bit of wallpapering in the kitchen. Those were the days.   We were young with 2 little ones.  Then 25 years later, we built this house so we have not done a lot of projects.  YET.

We had a tornado warning yesterday afternoon and are under a severe weather alert until 10:00 tonight.  We got 1/2" of rain and a thunderstorm early this morning.  It's raining nicely right now and we are supposed to get more rain tomorrow.  I can't complain as we are in the 70's-80's.

We went to our bank's customer appreciation for lunch and then went to the gym.  I was still full at dinner, so I had a SF popsicle.

No big plans for tomorrow except going to our Farmers Market.

We are not going to Emily's Boot Camp graduation next Friday afternoon as she only has a very short period of time before she flies to Pensacola.

I got a letter from her yesterday and she said she has everything major completed & official became a Sailor!  Yippee.  She said she is exhausted in ways she never felt possible and she can't wait to get to Pensacola.  She will have 6 months of advanced schooling and then will be assigned to her first command. She said they are being served a copious amount of of fish so she is  getting her $$ worth.

She said when she passes the official NAVY fitness assessment next Tuesday, she finally gets to eat desserts.  She said she has been dreaming about it for two months & seriously can't wait to have some sugar.

She is a wonderful writer and tells it like it is.

ETA: I love Hobby Lobby.  Have fun with your dgs's wedding decorations.

Hugs to all of you.

Glenda

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Wednesday, July 12)

twinny70--My bf just had her first floor completely reconfigured. She was very fortunate to find this contractor and his crew. They were skilled in plaster, paint and normal construction. He was also a better plumber than the plumber they previosly hired for the bathroom. They are so happy with the outcome that they are planning another complete re-do of the second an third floors.

Nice to hear that Emily is doing well in her training. My one brother was in the Navy. Congrats to her and her efforts.

We sure are having some serious rain and wind up and down the coast. I only heard those tornado sirens once or twice when I was in GA. many, many years ago. The wind sounded like a train coming thru. Wind and water can do so much damage in such a short amount of time. We can't get any additional insurance for wind or water in our state. You have to be in the "official" national zone. I swear they adjust the "zone" to favor the insurance companies. Our roof is "hurricane" safe up to 130mph wind (I think that's the number) The insurance company made a notation on the renewal but the discount wasn't applicable in our state. I wasn't happy about that but the peace of mind when it's gusting thru our area was the best benefit.
