Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Wednesday 8-24-16

Good Evening!  Thanks for getting us started Bernie, and congratulations on those windows, snicks.  Waves to Essie, Susan, Marijane, 3suwm5, Jean (hope the students behave better tomorrow than last year), Kathleen, Arlene, twinny, Charlene, Rosa, Gayle, Karen, pinky ann, meallen, butterfly, LindaR, Karen, and all of our posters and readers.

I decided to visit DH early this morning, and it was a rush to get there in time to see his hospice caregiver (who bathes him three times a week)..  I had not seen her for more than a month, and she is very nice.  She had gone on a trip to Hawaii, and she really enjoyed herself.  I'm very happy she had a good time.  Anyway, she talked to another caregiver in the facility, and she suggested getting some special "chucks" to go on DH's bed.  Hospice provides small, disposable ones, but she thought he would do better with larger cloth ones.  I ended up ordering through a medical supply place that delivers to the facility (needed to go to the office to achieve that, but I'm happy.)

Then, I raced home to change to go to the special lunch at the bistro staffed by cooking students.  The food was very good, but a few of us found our meal cold -- it was steak and mashed potatoes along with squash.  So, we asked that they heat it up.  Turns out they did not have microwaves, so they took our plates one by one and cooked the meat in a pan.  It was a little more "done" than I wanted, but no big deal.  It is good that the students have a place to practice these skills, and most of the food was very tasty.

I came home and tried to arrange for my annual mammogram and a bone density test.  Ended up in a big discussion over insurance coverage for a bone density test.  Last year, they told me that I could have a test every year (covered by insurance) since I have osteoporosis and am on an expensive medicine.  This year -- different doctor, same insurance -- I am getting very mixed messages.  I may try calling again or just wait another year.  I don't really want to have to pay the "full freight" as they say.

Stopped by DH's facility briefly -- just to say hello, and then went to the pool.  Water was very good.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

LindaLatte - I feel your 'pain' about insurance and bone density test and approval and Prolia........I had my annual physical early April.  Late June insurance said I needed a bone density test.  Had it done early August, heard last week I have osteoporosis (have had it for years) duh....Told the nurse to give the information to the specialist that handles all the osteo patients.  She is working on getting insurance to approve my prolia.  In the meantime, my prolia shot should have been done early April to meet the six month schedule.  I've had the shots for several years now, what's the holdup?  Oh my, I may need an adult beverage before this gets straightened out.

Today, another prescription of mine was messed up at the pharmacy - not sure if this is mess up 3suwm5's medical things in 2016 or just a try to get on her nerves......

NOT GOING TO DO IT - bigger things in life than waiting for a shot and fixing a prescription hahaha......

Good luck with your osteo procedures. Smiley Wink

Sorry about that -- also sorry you have osteoporosis.  I was so hoping to be able to avoid it by exercise and eating, but no such luck.
