Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Wed., Feb 27th)

Good Morning shopping friends,

I greeted the early morning with a shovel, we got maybe 2 inches (tops) last night.  We could get another inch or so throughout the day.

I caught a few minutes of my local news this morning and learned the Target store a couple of miles away from me will be closing on June 1.

There has been so much commercial development in and around that parcel of real estate, the Target is no longer easily visible - it's tucked in the background.  There are 136 employees at the store and according to Target corporate, folks will be offered positions at other Target locations.

I hope they are able to place all of the employees.

We've got a karate thing for eldest great niece tonight.  My sister works in the general area of the karate studio (I refuse to call it a dojo because I can't stand the guy who runs it, lol).  She and I are going to meet for Mexican food before the event.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Wed., Feb 27th)

Good Morning and thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  Sorry to hear about the closing of the Target store nearby, and I do hope the employees are placed in other stores.  Hope you enjoy dinner with your niece and the karate event.  Glad you didn't get too much snow.

So far, I'm feeling much better today.  But, I'm not sure if it is because there is still cold medicine in my system from last night, or I am really better.  Hopefully, I'll feel much better than yesterday.  Hard to believe that a cold could hit me that hard.

No plans today other than doing some walking, cleaning, and if possible a trip to the gym.  I'll not go to the gym if I am sneezing, etc.  Very sorry I missed the birthday party for my friend's husband yesterday, but I'm glad that I didn't expose others to the virus.

The hospice volunteer coordinator sent me a new patient to visit, and I have set up something for Saturday afternoon.  This patient is at home, and it is not all that close to where I live, but I'm happy to have the possibility of helping the patient and caregiver.

I was so tempted by the Q2 top and scarf and ended up ordering the scarf (in blue) this morning.  Still thinking about the top.  I also liked several jewelry pieces Louis presented, but I'm better at resisting jewelry.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Hi everyone, Bernie - thanks for starting the thread today.  It's always a bit of a bummer when a local store closes and people are out of work.  I wish the best for them.  Have fun at your DGN's karate event, and enjoy the Mexican food. Linda - Glad that the cold isn't getting you down too much.  Hope the rest of your day goes well.

I made it through the first part of my root canal this morning.  It wasn't too bad, but then, my mouth is still pretty numb, lol.  I kept my plans open for today, so I will just putter around the house and do a bit of this-and-that.  No idea what to cook for dinner.

I've been great at not shopping in February.  Yay!  I'll tell you what I'm saving my money for: an upper eyelid lift/surgery.  Drooping eyelids run in the family.  My mom had hers done in her 70s because it was blocking her vision.  My oldest sister had hers done in her 40s, for cosmetic reasons.  I am turning 60 this year, so I figured I'm half-way in between, and my reasons are a combo of medical and cosmetic.  I will have to pay for it, so I am saving up.  We've done remarkably well at replenishing our emergency savings, since we depleted much of that when we bought my DH's new/used truck back in December.  My DH has taken on a lot of side-jobs doing handyman work, and with me shopping less, we've made good progress.

I think that I'm going to go read for a bit now.  Take care everyone!  ~ Charlene

Bird Mama, 2" of snow is manageable unless it's blowing & drifting.   It's too bad about Target in your area is closing.  Hopefully the employees will find jobs in a different Target Store.  Have fun at the Karate event and I hope that you have a nice meal with your sister at the Mexican restaurant.

Linda, I am glad that you are feeling better.  It's too bad that you missed the 90th birthday party,  but it's probably a good thing that you didn't pass on the germs. Hopefully things will work out with your new Hospice patient.

It's a nice sunny day today, but we had a high wind warning for Sunday and ending on Monday morning.  Yesterday we got a dusting of snow and a little sleet, but the roads are in good shape.

I have been busy getting caught up with laundry, cleaning house and cooking.  Nothing exciting for sure.

I sent my DH to the grocery store for bananas, strawberries and milk.  Now we have everything we need until we get groceries on Friday.

It's hot tub time.

Hugs to all of you.

CERB, we were posting at the same time.  I am glad that your root canal is going well at this point.  Good luck with your upper eye lid surgery.  It sounds like a necessity for you.  You have done very good at replenishing your emergency $ fund.  My only QVC purchase in 2018 were 3 pairs of the stretch corduroy pants and I love them.  I did purchase the T.I.P.S nail polish remover and it came two days ago.  It was a need for sure.  I am so ready to go shopping somewhere.
