Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Tues., Feb. 18th)

Good afternoon (or morning, depending on time zone) shopping friends,

We got some snow overnight and the 40 degree temps are melting it Woman Happy  I went for my 3D mammogram this morning, stopped at Pet Supplies Plus for bird food and was home from both in 70 minutes Woman Very Happy

Based on previous experience, I should be notified of the results in the portal in 24 hours.

Carolyn Pollack featured the cutest Kachina enhancer yesterday at a one day only price of $107 and some change.  I meant to order it and got sidetracked and now the price is $134.  I didn't order it today.

What's new with you?

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Tues., Feb. 18th)

Good morning shopping buddies!

Although it rained yesterday morning, the remainder of the day was beautiful with bright, much needed sunshine. I was so inspired, and started spring cleaning early. It is currently a sunny morning and 35 degrees.

@Bird mama I hope your test results come back negative. Your post reminded me to schedule my mammogram. It's a bummer that you missed out on the enhancer, but hopefully they will reduce the price again soon.😊

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Tues., Feb. 18th)

Hi Everyone!

It's raining here...again but cold temps and zero rain are the forecast for the remainder of the week. YIPPEE!!! Crossing my fingers that the patio mud area freezes. The dogs avoid going out in the rain for potty yet they are fine in the shower for bath time. Go figure!

My new prescriptions were ready for pick up so I did that this afternoon. I had some sticker shock with the new prescription but if it works better than the old then I'm good. I still may pay some bills this afternoon if I can get thru my receipts quick enough. I need to dust this entire place and grocery shop so that's on my line up for part of this week. I always feel like I'm running behind on so many chores and appointments but I think I'm forever adjusting to retirement. I'm a "work in progress". LOL

It looks like prices have climbed twice in the last 10days on D& Co pants and gold jewelry. I also noticed some of the "preview/early" garden season items were increased a bit. Dang it.....I guess I just think about these items for too long. Keeps me on my budget and goal but I really do hate to miss a great sale! LOL

Believe it or not, I found a few ball bearers in the bottom of our dishwaser yesterday morning. That's what prompted the repair to the racks a few months ago. I just couldn't believe my eyes. Just when you think you've checked something off the list. I'm going to watch it for a few weeks and see if that was a "fluke" of if we have another problem.

Crossing my fingers.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Bird Mama, I think that we got a dusting of snow for you, fressa, Marijane and several other posters yesterday.  We were supposed to get a dusting last night, but it snowed hard all day.  Thus,  we got about 6" of light fluffy snow that turned to wet heavy snow followed by sleet.  Today it's 🌞🌞🌞and a bit slippery on sidewalks, but the scenery is beautiful.  I hope that you get a good report on your mammogram.  Too bad about the enhancer $$$ going up.  Aggravation for me when I miss out on a good deal that I like.I

Sandy Sparkles, it sounds like you have had a lot of rain.  I much prefer snow and 🌞🌞🌞.  I like to spring clean right before we go on vacation & the weather gets hot.  I am a fall/weather gal.

Fressa, we got your snow yesterday.  I am glad that you finally got your RX"s. I also have a lot of sticker shock  but it was a pleasant surprise yesterday when I picked up my test strips and lancets were FREE.  I had to get a new drug company this year so I am praying for the best when I pick up my $$$ Uloric and Xarelto in March.  I got lucky in December when I was still on the old plan.  I left work very unexpected 18" years ago and the first 3 years were rough. Now I think that retirement is the best job in the world.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Tues., Feb. 18th)

I am enjoying looking at the scenery outside of our picture window.  Yesterday it was just like being in a ❄❄❄ globe.

I am making a little more progress at the Wellness Center this week.  I promoted myself to level 2 on three out of the four machines that I go on.  The recumbent bike is still a level 1 for me & I am still taking it easy and doing them for 5  just minutes.  Next week I am going have try 7 minutes on all of them, but staying at level 2.

On Sunday afternoon,  we got all of our tax forms ready and took them to the tax lady yesterday after going to the gym.  Later yesterday afternoon, we got a call from her saying that she needed a different form from Lord Abbott.  It's a new account that we opened up 4 years ago and cashed it in last year.  This is our first time working with Lord and Abbott & apparently they send out their tax stuff late.  Now we are awaiting this form to come.  Arrrgh!  I very much dislike anything to do with getting our taxes done.

This whole year is just flying by & our winter has been fabulous.  Now maybe I should knock on wood.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Tues., Feb. 18th)

Good Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  I hope Jean will be posting later, but for those of you who do not have FB, her appointment yesterday went well.  Unfortunately, her right knee is "bone on bone", but the doctor tried a new treatment.  She is working today, but hopefully will post about it later.

Good luck on your mammogram, Bernie.  My place takes at least a week to send out results.  So far, so good, however.  Sorry you missed out on that enhancer.  I have noticed that they aren't kidding when they say one day or one show low price.  But, sometimes I am not quick to make up my mind.  Much to my surprise, my beach cover-up has shipped.  That is really fast for my area.

It is mostly sunny here, and should be nice and warm (mid-70's).  They are predicting higher than normal temperatures for the next couple of days and then a cool-down with some possibility of rain.

Glad the sunshine inspired you to do early spring cleaning, Sandy Sparkles.  That impulse (cleaning) rarely comes over me, but I know my DD is really into cleaning.

Hope your new medicines work better, Fressa.  Sorry about the sticker shock.  That seems to happen way too often lately.  Fingers crossed about your dishwasher.

Glad you got the snow you like, and I hope you are careful out there, twinny.  Great news on your fitness progress.  I remember years ago being told that I should use the elliptical for 10 minutes to get the cardio results I wanted, and thinking that isn't going to happen.  Fortunately, I made progress and now usually do 30 minutes at a pretty good pace.

I visited my new hospice patient yesterday afternoon, and she is really something.  Quite old and flashes through time a lot (mostly the old days).  She loves to talk and ask questions, and kept trying to think of a job for me to do.  No luck in telling her that I was happily retired because then she was going to look for volunteer jobs.

Today I had the senior lunch program, and my work buddy was in a bad state -- not happy and very nervous.  I think she was better by the end, but it made me feel a little uneasy when she kept snapping and sighing.  She has had issues before, and I hope she gets over this soon.  Meanwhile, I found out that one of our "regulars" who was only a year or two older than me passed away.  I didn't even know he was sick, but I guess he had heart trouble.

My SIL said her second interview went well, and she is still job hunting.  Fingers crossed she gets a new job that she likes soon.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice evening and sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Twinny @twinny70  Our snow melted and the sun has been shining all day.  It's going to be colder tomorrow and Thursday and then I stopped paying attention to what the weather guy was saying this morning Woman LOL

As far as the enhancer goes, I really don't wear the ones I have.  I bought a necklace earring set from Linea in the fall of the last year that I've yet to wear so I think it was probably good that I got sidetracked.

Linda @LindaLatte  I take it your new hospice patient has memory issues.  Bless her heart, it's nice that she was engaged in conversation with you even if she flashed back alot and tried to find you a job Woman Happy

Maybe your senior lunch program buddy needs to take a break from the senior lunch program Woman Wink  I'll say a prayer that your SIL finds a new job.

My new hospice patient has Alzheimer's plus some other brain disease, Bernie.  I like her a lot, but I was very surprised at our conversation since DH and my other patients didn't talk much at all.  Not dull for sure.

Interestingly enough, the director told me another volunteer said that she felt my buddy should not come to the lunch program if she was so unhappy, etc.  She did skip last week.  But, my director doesn't want to say anything for fear that it will upset her even more.  It is a tough situation, and I am hoping that she is better next week.  Thanks for the prayers for my SIL.

ETA -- Sorry about that form, twinny.  I am waiting from one account like that, and they are saying it won't be ready until February 28th.  At least it is better than some of DH's funds that only sent their forms mid March or later.
