Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Thursday, Feb 4th

Hello, I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of my new jeans and yoga pants.  Getting tall yoga pants for $10 doesn't happen everyday so I am most excited to see if these are going to work out.

I had an interesting experience last night.  I was stuck in an elevator in the parking garage and the Otis elevator man had to come and pry me out.

This must be the year of new experiences for me.  First the car needed to be towed last month and this month I need to get rescued from an elevator.

How is your day going?

Yikes, Bernie...being. Stuck in an elevator is my nightmare. 😳 Hope your pants work out. I am tall but can get by with a 31 inch inseam.

my brothers and wives are visiting so we are having a great time. They are easy guests and we get along fabulously. Our weather is on the cool side but should get warmer this weekend.

Sydnies puppy was born 2 weeks ago. She now weighs 1 pound and just opened her eyes. Syd will visit her this weekend and can take her home April 1.

i read all the posts daily. I hope everyone has a great day

Hello Ladies, thanks for starting Bernie....I agree with Barbara that is my worse nightmare being stuck in an elevator.....were you in there alone...how long did it take to  get you out?  I hope the pants are ok...sounds like you got a good deal on them.

Have a great time with your company Barbara.....the puppy sounds adorable.....so tiny..don't remember what kind of dog it is.

Another damp day here, this morning when I got up it was 51 and very foggy.  Now they are saying snow overnight...accumulation  up north from  us...maybe 2 inches or so...still not bad for Feb.     Next week could be another story though.

Nothing else here..looking for some kind of sauce to make to go with butternut squash ravioli.....anybody have any ideas?       Have a nice day everyone.....Marijane

@sydsgma1

Barbara, at least I was alone in the elevator and didn't have to contend with any hysteria.  The elevator was stopped at the 7th floor (high as it goes, and the floor I park on) and the doors opened a smidge then the elevator would spazz and jerk a little.  I called my sister and said, lol, I'm stuck in an elevator that is jerking around.  If the cables break (my worst fear, from too much TV), I doubt I will die.  I could suffer some broken bones.  I told my sister, I love you.  You have keys to my house - take care of my birds.

I was completely calm about it.

Good afternoon ladies, hope all is well.

Bernie -  Thank you for starting us today.  Sorry about getting stuck in the elevator (one of my great fears) , glad there was someone there to help you.

I am feeling very lazy today, I do have a bunch of ironing to do, I am hoping the mood grabs me soon.

Just stopped in to say hello, hope everyone has a great afternoon.

One more thing - I expect to have nice looking legs and a stronger cardiovascular system by summer because hell will need to freeze over before I get in that elevator again (wink).

argh!  Post disappeared.  Bernie, so glad you made it through with no damage! I hope you like your items.

I drove home Tuesday, met my best friend and her DH in Austin and went out to eat.  Then we all went to the house.  It was really nice.  They left just before noon and I did a few things, stopped in at Linda's town to have a late lunch with her then home.

Taking care of the mess now.

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Sorry you had to be rescued from the elevator, Bernie.  I'm glad you were calm, but I think I would walk for a while myself.  Hope the pants and jeans work out -- great bargains if they do.

Glad you are having fun with your family, Barbara.  So nice that they can visit you in Arizona.  I'm sure Syd's blue eyed puppy is adorable -- how tiny!

Hope your weather isn't too bad, Marijane -- this week or next.  I think the traditional sauce for that pasta is a simple cream sauce, perhaps with fresh sage leaves.  At least that is what I had when I went to Ferrara (I think) a town that is famous for that type of pasta.  It is one of my favorites, and I usually make a sauce with sauteed onions (not too many), sometimes some sauteed mushrooms, plus a simple white sauce made with evaporated milk rather than cream since I don't usually have any cream around.  I usually add some Parmesan cheese as well.  Also put some cheese on top with a little parsley and a few red pepper flakes when I serve it.

Good luck with your ironing, Susan.  I usually save that task for Sunday afternoons, and I find it difficult to do other days of the week for some reason.

Waves to Jean, Kathleen, Arlene, twinny, Rosa, Charlene, LindaR, snicks, spix, Karen, Gayle, pinky ann, and all of our posters and readers.

As I mentioned yesterday (I think) there is more work to do regarding DH's brokerage account.  I also needed to get some forms back to the tax attorney (this has to do with his estate, not taxes).  I wanted to take a walk, and decided to walk up to the lawyer's office rather than drive.  That went well, and it is warmer today than the past couple of days.

DH seems to be doing okay today, and I will drop him off at the "club" while I'm in my British history class this afternoon.  The nurse should be coming later in the afternoon.

Nothing else to report except that today is my DGD's 16th birthday.  My card arrived yesterday, thank goodness.

Hope everyone has a nice evening!

Hugs,

Linda

ETA -- glad you had fun, Kathleen.  So glad you were able to have lunch with LindaR.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Thursday, Feb 4th

Hi everyone, hope all are doing ok today.

Thanks @Bird mama, for starting us. You are living on the edge this year, that's for sure. The elevator thing is not something I would enjoy, I have a small amount of claustrophobia but would be ok in an elevator if it's not crowded with other people, but one that won't let me off? All bets are off at that point, lol. Glad you weren't stuck there for too long. Hope you get your jeans and other pants soon, and that they are the right length for you. A pet peeve of mine is pants no long enough, lol.

@sydsgma1, glad you are enjoying your visit with family. The puppy sounds cute, I'm sure Sydnie will enjoy visiting it this weekend.

@Genny1, it's cold here today, but is supposed to warm up some tomorrow, then back to cold again.

@PAlady, I'm not very ambitious today either, was going to work on the downstairs bathroom, but haven't made a start on that so far. I only iron when I have to, don't know if you are one who enjoys it or not.

The repair shop 'may' be done with hubby's truck today, waiting to hear from them. I sure hope so, will be nice to have the vehicle situation back to normal. I have been upping my stretching exercises (kind of have my body a little bit sore from it, lol), but when I get on the floor for some of the exercises my little dog thinks its play time, so I spend more time playing with her than exercising, she's so much fun. It's almost time to take her outside again now. Going to one of my granddaughter's play tomorrow night. She is the drama club president and very active in it, obviously. The last play I attended was very good, all the kids really worked hard and you could tell that they did. They also build the sets and do everything concerning the plays so they put in a lot of hours on it. I am looking forward to attending. Better take the dog out, lol. Waves to all.....

Thanks LindaL....I looked up a sauce in Lidia Bastianich cook book I have and it's similar to yours  right down to the onions and mushrooms..exception being the evaporated milk....I do have some cream so I will use that....thanks.

Snicks great news that DH truck is done and you will be able to get your car back.  Have a nice time at the play tomorrow....wow they build the sets too!  What's the name of it?
