Shopaholics One Day at a Time - September 6, Wednesday

Good Afternoon all, the sun is shining and the air is crisp and cool in my neck of the woods.  I pulled out my ankle boots today - no can do on the open toe shabooties today - I need some socks.

My hunt for gray suede boots led me to the Amazon today.  I am currently wearing a pair of Lucky Brand Eller boots in navy that I bought on clearance from Lord and Taylor last month.  Sadly I cannot find this same boot in gray suede at a discounted price and since they fit my feet like they were made for me, I pulled the trigger and paid the full price at Amazon.  One thing for sure, I know I will get my price per wear out of them.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - September 6, Wednesday

Good Morning/Afternoon, and thanks for getting us started, Bernie.   Nice boots.  I hate to pay full price, but sometimes it is worth it to get exactly what I want.  Not at all cool here -- should reach 100 degrees again today. It was nice on my walk this morning.

I thought of you when I saw the TSV today.  Not that I thought you would be ordering, but you have talked about buying corduroy pants in that past.  I have not worn corduroy since I moved to Arizona full-time.  I used to like the idea, but I don't think I ever found a pair that really fit me the way I wanted.  Needless to say, I'm not planning to purchase the TSV, but I see they are popular.  Hope any who order them enjoy them very much.  Also hope you like the coat/jacket you ordered Jean.

DH was doing pretty well yesterday, and he said something funny (at least to me).  We were in the living room with the big TV, and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" came on.  He said "I don't want to be a millionaire".  First, he doesn't usually say that much, and second I had to wonder why not.  Never got a clear answer from him, but I am curious.

I had a little mishap at the senior lunch program -- taking a tray of peas out of the oven to check on them -- some very hot water and steam came out and went through my apron, blouse, and pants.  I ended up with a slight burn on my belly which hurt (not major hurt, but....)   The director found a tiny package of "burn cream" which helped.  Now it is just a tiny red spot, but tI sure don't want that to happen again.  Otherwise, things went well as they did at the gym.

Waves to all of our posters and readers, and have a good day!

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. Hope irma isn't as bad as predicted.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - September 6, Wednesday

Hi Bernie and all who follow, I was just getting ready to start the thread when I saw that you had done so.  I like those boots, they look like they could be worn with all kinds of outfits.  I am willing to pay more for shoes that I know fit and are good for my feet.  Susan - sorry that you went through the upset stomach issues - hope you're back to 100% now.  Jean - the floods you described in WV in the past sound terrible.  I hope the current rains aren't nearly so bad.  I own two Denim & Co fleece jackets in a plaid print, item A269365.  I have it in red and in blue.  Love them.  Marijane - hope you enjoy switching out our clothes.  I have quite a while to go yet before I switch out my warm weather clothes, lol.  But there's something kind-of fun about pulling out an old favorite.  Linda - I haven't been keeping up with my walking lately.  You inspire me.  Hope your DH has a good day today.  twinny - enjoy your visit with your son and continue to have fun on the trip.  Hope all of you are away from the paths of the storms.

I enjoyed my weekend without DH and DD, but then they came home a night early and inadvertently scared me.  They had a good time hunting and have eaten dove the past couple of nights.  I ate something else as I don't like dove.  Two days ago I accidentally kicked a basket that holds our file folders (one of my on-going projects, hence it was out-of-place).  I'm pretty sure I broke the little toe on my left foot.  I broke that toe badly several years ago so I know what it's like.  This time I think it's just a crack rather than a break.  But it's dark purple and sore, so I'm going to have to be careful with it for a while.  ~sigh~

My Bible study that runs from Sept. through May is going to be starting up in a week.  It marks that beginning of the "school" year for me, when life gets busier.  I just feel that I didn't get enough done during the course of the summer.  The first half of the summer was busy with my kids graduating and moving in and out.  Then I have felt icky off-and-on the past few weeks.  I  haven't gotten that much accomplished.  I sound like I'm whining.  Sorry about that.  Just wish I would get a big burst of healthy energy and get a lot of tasks completed.

Oh well, that's the way life is, lol.  Could be a lot worse, so I will count my blessings.  Still praying for all those adversely affected by the hurricanes.  Waves to all ~ Charlene

Linda - we must have been posting at the same time.  Maybe your DH's comment was his way of expressing contentment.  That would be nice.  I'm sorry to hear about your getting a burn at the lunch program.  God bless you for all you do for others, and I hope the burn heals quickly!

Bird Mama, I like your choices in boot's.  I am surprised to hear that it is sock weather today.

Linda L, such a sweet comment from your DH.  Sorry about your burn.  No matter how small, they still sting.  My mom had 3rd degree burns on her hand when we were kids.  She ran out of the house with a frying pan on fire.  Thus, she had to make many trips to the local clinic getting the blisters cut off.  OUCH.

CERB, I am sorry that you are still not feeling much better.  You are not whining.  It is rough trying to get the kids situated.  I am feeling good.  My infusion was recent & I don't have any thing to do.

It started raining late morning & was done by noon, so we decided to walk to Frisco's for lunch.  Sun was shining when we got there, but it got black real quickly so we bagged up our lunch & hurried back home.  Nothing but a lot of wind & a few rain drops.  It is supposed to rain hard again this afternoon & evening.

My DH & I are having a rest up day today.  We had a nice time at the beach yesterday.

Our ds gets off of work at 5:00, so he is cooking dinner tonight.  I don't know when our ddil gets home because her schedule changes.

My cousin & his wife in the Houston area just had water in their garage.  Their dd & dsil are both chiropractors & their office was completely flooded.

My late mom's cousin & his wife live in Marathon, FL. I am sure that they have to evacuate.  They rode out the last hurricane & said Never Again.  We met up with them probably 6 years ago when we were on a bus trip & our hour long lunch was in Marathon.

The sun is shining, so we mighgt go for a swim.  Their is an outdoor pool here & an inside gym.  I am still getting used to Eastern time & the light's in this town house..  They are touch controlled & tricky to turn on, dim & turn off.  Oh & the fancy kitchen faucet!

My DH & I are heading to Maine tomorrow & not coming back here until Friday night.  Beach time & seafood are calling my name.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - September 6, Wednesday

Good morning everyone - it's cool here for a few days.  Last night we were in the low 40s.  Just feels like winter is coming quickly.  I don't feel like I've had summer yet, so not happy to see those types of lows already.

Traffic at the golf course has slowed quite dramatically and that really tells me, things are changing.

@Bird mama  Love the look of those boots.  I just can't get myself to wear something with a heel anymore.  Not sure why, because I love the styles.  I seem to be in a hurry when I get out of the house, feel like I can't move as quickly in that type vs. a flat - silly.

Sometimes, when you see something that you love and have worn, it makes sense to buy multiples - even at full price.  I know I would without hesitation.

@LindaLatte  Your DH sounds like a very sweet man.

Your encounter with the hot water/steam sounds scary.  Glad you will be fine after a bit of healing.

The oncoming hurricane sure sounds horrible at this point.  Wish it would turn back out to the ocean and flounder out there for days.  I just can't imagine how folks in these areas can cope with this threat every now and again.

@cerb  Sorry to hear about your toe.  Had that happen before, not fun.

Enjoy your bible study 'season'.

@twinny70  You sure sound like you're enjoying your visit. Wish I could have shellfish, I would be all-in.

Sure hope your Floridian family gets out.  Heard the lines at gas stations are really long and some stations are out of gas, that is very upsetting.

@meallen616  Beautiful picture today.  My thoughts and prayers are right there also.  Still praying for TX folks as well.  What a wild weather season, fires on one end, too much water on the other.

Stay safe everyone.  Praying loved ones are safe too.

Keep those CCs close to the vest - don't let them out, if you can do so.

@LindaLatte  I think it's cute that your husband answered the question 'who wants to be a millionaire'.  Steam can be dangerous - I have a few small scars to prove it, lol.

Geez Charlene @cerb  I'm sorry that you broke your toe.  My Ma broke a couple of hers more than once.  I don't think the toe goes back into position after the first break and makes it more prone to another break.  Just a theory on my part :-)

@twinny70  I appreciate your stories 'from the road'.  Sounds like you are having a great vacation and yes it's kinda cold here in the Midwest.
