Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Monday July 24th

[ Edited ]

Good Morning Shopping Friends,

It appears that my Bob Mackie blouse is out for delivery (post office) today.  How this blouse jumped ahead of the Plow and Hearth Christmas in July purchase escapes me.

I finally needed enough items to make a trip to the Amazon.  I'm running out of Cholestoff Plus, ordered a supersize Nature Made Biotin supplement and ordered a 4 pack of Shout stain remover gel.  This time around, prices were better at Amazon than my local stores.

I've no interest in the Joan Rivers TSV.  I'm not in the market for an oversized shirt.  If I was, there is something about the pockets on this one that is just throwing me.  The button back detail is cute though.

It's really cloudy here and cooler.  I left a couple of windows cracked open to let the house breathe while I'm at work.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Monday July 24th

Good Morning and thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  Hope you like the Bob Mackie top when it arrives.  The Q shipping can be strange -- I have had similar delivery issues in the past.  No TSV for me either.

I have Prime, so I always check prices on things like vitamins, etc. -- sometimes it is less expensive on Amazon, but not always.

It is a bit cloudy here as well, but there is less of a chance of rain.  I think it will be warmer/hotter starting tomorrow, and there is less chance of rain.

It was pretty nice on my walk this morning, and now I need to get ready for my "strong bones" class.  I have a few errands to complete, and cleaning to do.  I found some really nice Italian eggplants at the 99 cent store, and I plan to cook them today.  I'll visit DH this afternoon.  Not exactly exciting, but.that is okay.

I have not moved things to my beautiful Kipling bag.  That may not happen until August or September.  I know that is weird, but....

Totally by accident, I found that one of my TVs gets Q2.  Long story why my TVs have different channels, and I'm not sure that I can find it again.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Hugs,

Linda

  • Hello Ladies...hope you like your blouse Bernie and it fits ok.    WE have been getting q2 from the start I think Linda but the picture is funny......everyone looks tall and very very thin....wonder why?

THanks For the graphic Meallen....from last week being in the high 90' s today it it just 60 and raining buckets.....but we need the rain so not complaining.

Charlene I did not realize you don't have "lighting bugs" as we call them here ,in NY,NJ anyway......when I was a kid we used to catch them by hand and put them in a glass jar, usually a mayonise jar ..make holes in the lid ,so they could breathe..that's what we were told anyway..and fill the jar with grass, leaves and when we caught them put them in there....but before we came in for the night, when our mom's called us...we would let them go.   I doubt kids nowadays would think this was "fun" but we enjoyed it.....we were probably in grammar school when we did this.   FUnny things we remember.....

Not much going on.....making a big pot of spaghetti sauce for supper and beyond.

HAve a nice day......Marijane

Bernie--Thank you for starting the thread. I hope you enjoy the Mackie blouse. I haven't bitten on it, primarily because I wasn't sure of the sizing despite reading the "click here" measurements. I just got an order of the  Cholestoff Plus from Amazon. I get all my supplements from there as the prices are competitive and I don't have to waste time hunting them in the store as they aren't always well-stocked.

Linda--Enjoy your "strong bones" class. We just get the regular QVC channel and HSN on our cable service. I think sometimes the QVC shipping depends upon whether it is coming from a QVC warehouse or directly from the manufacturer/company of the item sold. Exciting day? It is a routine day for you, but one which is more exciting than sitting at home watching Netlfix, Hulu, QVC or the latest hard to believe news item.

meallen--Such a beautiful rose for today! Thanks for the great graphic and I hope the temps have dropped for you as they have for us.

Nothing exciting here.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Monday July 24th

Good morning all -- I too saw the Joan Rivers TSV, I would be swallowed whole in that garment.  I have narrow shoulders and only 5'2", I can just imagine how that would look on me.  No thanks.

The weekend was beautiful, not so hot and a bit breezy.  Had a downpour on Friday and about 4am today, we need the moisture.

Today, just work around the house and exercise.  Then dream up something for dinner.  Hopefully, the CC stays buried in the wallet.  Fingers crossed - ha.

@Bird mama  I need to get on Amazon and re-supply a few things as well.  Just trying to let the CC cool off some.  I sure hope you love the blouse, never bought anything from Bob.  His clothing looks so nice, I should take a closer look one day.

A/C went on about 9am today, it will be a sweat-fest hereSmiley Sad

@LindaLatte  Enjoy your class today and your visit with DH.  I'm curious what resistance-type, weightbearing-type tools are used in your class?

I think it is the cable company that makes tv have different channels for the same program.  We had the same issue in another state.  Here, the channels all match up - who knows??

@meallen616  Thank you.  You made me think of my Mother with your picture today.  She loved yellow roses.Woman Happy  Beautiful.

@Genny1  In our big city we didn't see any 'lightning bugs'.  When we spent a few years on the east coast, our DSs finally had a chance to see them.  It was a game for them to catch and watch in the jar.  I remember when I was a little girl, we always saw lightning bugs and tried to catch them and put them in jars.  I'm not sure those types of games are played anymore.Woman Sad

Your spaghetti sauce sounds yummy, enjoy.

@KonaKat  I get frustrated when shopping for supplements here, as they rarely have what I'm looking for or it is more expensive.  I just pull up my go-to websites and take care of all of it.  Then move on to the next thing.

These days I have the TV on HGTV most of the time.  I don't really think speculation is news and then it's repeated all day.

We're tapping out over 100 degrees today, so no outside for me.

Have a wonderful day everyone.  My cc - not seeing daylight today -- hooray!!!

Marijane--We used to do the same with lightening bugs; the good old kids' entertainment is no longer fancied.

3suwm5--I  agree about shopping for supplements; when needed, just go to the trusty online source. It saves time! The CC has not been pulled out today.

UPS is supposed to deliver my new phone system today, but they are running later than usual. I guess it is back to reading in the meantime.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Monday July 24th

I had the same experience with "lightening bugs" as a child.  I found out that they are't everywhere through DH's daughter who lives in CA after growing up in Maryland.

As far as "tools" goes, in "strong bones" we use leg weights and hand weights -- not heavy at all.  My leg weights are five pounds and the hand weights I use are two pounds.  I exercise at home with heavier hand weights, but somehow it does not work well with "bones" class.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Monday July 24th

Hi everyone - I first saw lightning bugs/fireflies when I was about 12 years old and we went on a vacation back east.  I was so excited.  My Dad, who had grown up in Illinois showed my sisters and I how to catch them in a jar.  Funny the things we take for granted.

Because it is overcast and a bit cooler today, I decided to take advantage of it.  I pruned back part of a giant, overgrown honeysuckle vine.  Then I cleaned out part of the garage which was much needed.

Part of me likes the Joan River's TSV, but I wouldn't wear it very much, and since I already have an overflow of clothes, I'll pass.  Still being good about not shopping.

I have decided to name the kitten "Finnegan", and since he was born around St. Patrick's Day, that's when I'll celebrate his birthday.  He still has a respiratory infection despite meds.  I hope that he'll be better soon.
