Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Monday, December 7th)

Good Afternoon or Morning (depending on your time zone) Woman Happy

I decorated the Christmas tree on Saturday and put up the rest of my holiday decor around the house.  I like a touch of Christmas here and there.  Like a small reindeer in one room, Santa hand towel in the master bathroom, stuff like that.

Short of a quick run to 2 places for gift cards for my sister, I'm done.  I'm glad we handed off the great niece's Christmas presents to the parents before Thanksgiving.

How are you today?

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Monday, December 7th)

Hi Everyone!

It's cool and cloudy. No rain or snow in the forecast so I'm relieved. I'm hoping the ground will absorb the moisture to preent muddy paws. This week the weather is forecasted to be all over the scale. I'm not a fan of that option.

I woke up with laringytis today. This happens when the weather flips back and forth. I think it's some crazy combo between the allergies and humidity. Hopefully, it won't last but a few days. I 'm still doing laundry. I like to keep on schedule with a few things or it drives me crazy. LOL

The big tree in the living room has a light problem. I have a string that is out and requires led tiny bulbs. I can't find them at the stores so I decided to hide the situation with beaded garland and wide ribbon. I still have to finish with tthe ornaments but I've got the topper on it. Sort of a backwards way for me to decorate this year but as long as it up then I'm good with it.

I have one last battery stop for the window candles. UGH!!! I forgot to check them. Today I want to make the final check on the Christmas lists and what's waiting to arrive so I can move along to sending cards. I still have a few to purchase which will be later in the week.

I did watch some of the Q this morning while I was feeding the dogs. I wasn't tempted by anything so that's good. I noticed that they seem to airing quite a bit of home goods or maybe that's just when I have it on.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Bernie--Thank you for starting the thread. I like your method of a little touch of Christmas everywhere  you go in the house. Now, you can relax and enjoy the days leading up to Christmas.

Fressa--Sorry you have laryngitis. This crazy weather does contribute to it. You certainly are going to have a nicely decorated home for Christmas. Those light strings that go out because of the malfunction of one bulb can be so frustrating.

Linda--Happy Birthday to you. I hope your day was very special.

I worked today which was unexpected. It was a good assignment but I am very tired. I had thought I would spend an hour or two on the house tonight but since I work tomorrow, I need to rest as I get up at 5am to gellt ready for work since I like to watch an hour of news and not feel rushed. I'm usually at work by 7:15. It was snowing some when I came home from work at  4pm.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Monday, December 7th)

Hi everyone - so good to see you all still posting.  We've been keeping busy.  Back in August we decided to live out an adventure, so we I purchased a Harley-Davidson. (2109 Heritage Classic Softail 114).  My DH took a training course, got his license, and we've been practicing and getting better every week.  We have joined the American Legion Post/Auxiliary, and the American Legion Riders, which is the motorcycle branch.

We are trying not to let the sucky year of 2020 get us down.

On Saturday we participated in a big ride of about 100 bikes.  We provided escort for an old Marine Corps monument that was being delivered to a volunteer who is refurbishing it.  It was incredible to ride in a big group of bikers like that, and honestly, they have been some of the warmest, most welcoming people I've met.  I posted photos on my facebook page.

There was been a big surge in Covid cases in our community recently.  I have a dear friend who is currently on a ventilator and not expected to live.  His name is Ted, if you are of a mind to pray.

Other than that, things are going okay.  My house still contains autumn decorations, and now a Christmas tree.  I need to finish switching out the decor.

My DH has an appointment on Thursday to get his latest PSA test results.  So far there has been no sign of cancer, but I always get a little anxious when it's appointment time.

Much love to all of you.  Stay safe!  ~ Char

Charlene @cerb   I will most certainly include Ted in my prayers.  My sister and brother in law had Harley's.  I don't remember the model it's been so many year but they seemed to enjoy riding them back in the day.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Monday, December 7th)

Good evening ladies, hope all is well.

Bernie - Thank you for starting us today.  I have my Christmas decorations are just in my downstairs.  DH put lights in the windows upstairs and downstairs in the front of the house.  I would probably decorate more, but our decorations go in the attic in the garage and you have to climb a ladder to get to them.  That was okay 20 years ago, but not now.

I have to make a run for one more gift item for my niece and then I will be done.  Yeah!!

Linda - Happy Birthday!!

Jean - Hope you get some rest tonight so you are energized for tomorrow.

Charlene -  Hope you and DH enjoy your new adventure. I am sorry about your friend, I will keep him in my thoughts.

Fressa -  Sorry you are not feeling well.  I think you tree will look great with the adjustment you made.

When I brought the dog in last night, the dog was limping and would not put weight on her left back leg.  Took her to the  vet - she blew out her ACL in her leg.  On Wednesday we take her in to another vet for a consultation.  I feel so bad for her, she is on pain meds but they are kicking her b***t.

Well not much more to say here, hope everyone has a good evening.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Monday, December 7th)

Good Evening.  Thanks for getting us started, Bernie.

And, thanks for the birthday wishes everyone.  It turned out to be a pretty busy day, including a routine dental appointment that had originally been scheduled for Thursday and an OLLI class.  I treated myself to a nice carryout dinner from a local Italian restaurant and a piece of cake from the grocery store. So, I'm stuffed.

I received a very large floral arrangement today, and the card had my late husband's name on it.  I checked, and it was not from my daughter or his daughter.  My daughter speculated that it is from one of DH's friends who had called me over the weekend.  I mentioned my birthday, but he has never sent me anything, even a card at Christmas.  His late wife did send Christmas cards, but he has not.  Anyway, the flowers are beautiful.

Glad you and your husband are enjoying the motorcycle, Charlene.  I have seen some of your pictures on FB, and it looks like you are having fun.  I will certainly pray for Ted.

Sorry about your dog, Susan.  Hope you feel better, Fressa, and get some rest, Jean.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda
