Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Friday, May 6th

@Snicks1

Oooh thanks for the reminder about the graves.  Every year, April and October, the pet cemetery does a clean up so I refrain from new decor' until May, November.

I bought new solar lights for the dog's graves and need to get them in the ground this weekend.  Ma's ashes are with her dog, so I will also be visiting Ma.

My middle sister scattered my father's ashes, not sure where, without telling anyone about it until months later (I know, nice move).  So for Dad, I just wish him a nice day outloud and figure it floats up and he gets it.

I just went outside and mowed the front yard - dang, looks like a different property, lol.  It had been nearly two weeks (we had lots of rain).  I'm taking a break, a Bonanza break to be exact from 1 pm until 2 pm and then I will go do the back yard.

I figure that will give the back yard another hour to dry out.

@Bird mama. that sounds nice, (the lights), sorry you don't know where your father's ashes were scattered, that is kind of sad.
I mowed yesterday, took me waay too long, I do a lot of the trim work with a push mower and have to stop about every 10-15 minutes due to my back, and of course the front is still a mess from the water line work, so it's hard to do. When I get to the riding mower part, only about an hour. Enjoy your Bonanza break.

@Snicks1

What compounds the sadness about my Dad is that he did not want to be cremated.  Ma and my middle sister decided that for him.  Every once in a while I feel guilty about that.  My beloved died 3 months before my Dad and my mind wasn't right - I should have fought for Dad's wishes.

Good grief, I meant Gunsmoke not Bonanza.  Love me some Festus.  Today's episode has Beau Bridges in it.  I always like Beau Bridges.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Friday, May 6th

I had trouble connecting today & had to ask for help.

It is sunny & cool which we are loving.  I think it will be in the 80's tomorrow.  We are in Gatlinburg today & will see the Dixie Stampede dinner show tonight.

Hugs to you Bird Mama about your dad's ashes.  I will be doing my parents grave soon too.  DH is missing Gunsmoke.

Hugs to you LL as you deal with your DH's problems, but your upcoming trip sounds wonderful.

I will be reading & responding whenever I can.

As I was watching Gunsmoke and eating my breaded mozzarella sticks (lunch), I had the family room door open so Grayson could partake of fresh air.

Rocky and 1/2 a dozen pigeons came by for lunch, rofl.  I studied that bird's feather color patterns and just hope the hawk he got away from last month don't recognize him like I do.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Friday, May 6th

Hi girls! It's fairly warm out right now (70s), but gosh, I was FREEZING last night!  Cat Surprised  I had swapped out the comforter for a quilt last week as it was so warm, but even with winter PJs and a robe on (and a couple of cats) I was cold and woke up several times.  For some reason I didn't think to go into the office next door and grab the comforter that I had just washed and set aside to take upstairs next time I go up. It's supposed to be cold again tonight (50s), so I'll grab it before I go to bed...and if it needs to be washed again, so be it.

I'm behind on my homework, so MUST get caught up this weekend. Class ends in a week, and I'm really annoyed - I usually take two classes at once, which gives me a few weeks off between semesters, but they messed up my registration and I had only one class at a time this semester with a slight overlap, so I won't have any kind of break before the next semester starts a week from Monday.  Cat Frustrated At least I'll have about six weeks off between the summer and fall terms.

@Bird mama - Aww, I felt so bad from Grayson - he was probably loving having someone else who spoke his language and will really miss Rocky. Is there some way you can put him in a cage outside for a few hours so he can have company and catch up on gossip?  I've read so many stories about rescue animals who never forgot their rescuers, so maybe Rocky will come back and visit.  I love pigeons; i used to enjoy feeding them in a little park at lunchtime when I worked on Wall St.; I had one special buddy named Walter, who always came running when he saw me. Cat LOL

@LindaLatte - I feel so badly for you, both for all the work you have to do, but I know how heartbreaking it is to see someone you love suffer from an illness.  I pray for you always.

I need to get my grass cut and the weeds cut (again); maybe Sunday afternoon, when I'm caught up a bit on homework.

No special plans for today, apart from taking the dogs for a ride to Walmart. Honeybun got into the birds' suet, so I need to get more, and my outside floodlights that I keep on all the time to light the back yard have gone out so I have to get replacements.  After that the weekend will be spent on homework - ugh.  (I don't particularly care for this class - it's all about trade agreements and treaties and such....very boring.)

Hi to everyone - have a blessed day - and happy nurses' week to the nurses (and caretakers) out there!

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Friday, May 6th

@FunkyHulaGirl

Arlene, Rocky stopped by for lunch between 1pm and 2pm while I was watching Gunsmoke and eating lunch.

I doubt Rocky would ever just strut in the house, but when I was talking to the pigeons that came with him, none of them flew off or anything.

To ease everyone's mind - a couple of years ago, Grayson decided to sit on a small rubber chicken in a nest he built with the stems that walnut tree leaves grow out of.  I help him gather fresh stems when the seasons allow and I stockpile them during the winter.  When I clean out his 'man cave' I toss the broken stems and leave fresh ones.

Anyway, prior to Rocky joining us, Grayson was in his nesting mood.  Grayson resumed his nesting about an hour after Rocky was gone.

I have always allowed Grayson to mingle with other pigeons weather  permitting, under my watchful eye.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - Friday, May 6th

Hi everyone - I just came in from organizing tubs of books in my storage shed.  It's kind of fun to do projects like that.  Jean - I also have a couple of those Susan Graver tops that you have.  I have the mosaic, and the paisley.  Bernie - I've enjoyed your stories of Rocky and Grayson.  I do hope that Rocky thrives and that Grayson isn't too lonely.  Sorry about the situation surrounding your Dad's death.  Marijane - I hope that your GS's first communion is a blessed event tomorrow.  Snick - I love that you visit your mother's grave every year just before Mother's Day and spruce it up.  What a nice way to say "hello".

Fashion statement of the day - I received the Susan Graver dresses that I ordered.  They were former TSVs that I bought "as-is".  The black is just okay, but I like the black with the floral print.  I think I will keep one and return the other.  I might order one of the black abstract prints.  I'll give it some thought.

Hope you have a pleasant Friday!  ~  Charlene
