Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time, Friday, December 5th

Hello, the TSV (A716823) is nice looking in the Cordovan colorway.  I prefer all of my purses, even crossbodies to have an east-west orientation.

I need to cool it on TSVs.

I ordered the Groovs Open Ear Wireless Headphones from QVC .

Groovz Plus Open Ear True Wireless Headphones w - E328311

I ordered the Memorex Tablet, Keyboard and Headphones Bundle from HSN.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time, Friday, December 5th

Hi Everyone!

It's a winter storm watch weekend. The wind gusts have been around for the last few days. Odd..for our area but....Hopefully, the worse will be over by Monday. I'm not sure what I'll tackle first on the "to do" list when the snow /ice leave the area. I'm still a work in progress with "pace yourself" option but am trying not to panic. LOL

Birdmama---I have to slow down the "free shipping" purchasing I've been doing. I've ordered quite a few D&C pants and need to need to stop now. Everything fit and felt comfy so I' am glad I got them when I did.

LindaLatte---I hope the weather/season cooperates with your walk time. It does seem like there is more leftover on the daily "to do" list this season. Good Luck.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time, Friday, December 5th

It was quite brisk and windy outside today.  I had to warm the outdoor water (birds, squirrels) quite often because it was icing up.  I visited a local Meijer (grocery/department) store earlier in the afternoon to purchase a few SImply Give gift cards.  If you're curious about the program just search Meijer Simply Give.  Anyway today was double match day so the $30 I paid turned into $90.  Each store partners with a local food bank to provide gift cards for food.  Meijer also allows baby non-food things like diapers and wipes to be purchased with the cards.

My particular Meijer was out of the gift cards (I called them earlier in the day).  I went to a different Meijer because I was determined to get in on the double match.  I would have done some grocery shopping but the place was packed and the lines were long.

I'm so accustomed to shopping at the crack o' dawn I found the crowds just too much.  I stood in line for the gift cards and will do my regular shopping at my store tomorrow morning.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time, Friday, December 5th

Good Evening!  I thought those headphones looked very interesting, Bernie.  But since I already have hearing aides that go behind my ear and eyeglasses, I decided they would not work for me.  Are they for you or a gift?  And is the tablet for you as well?  Hope you like both.

Your weather certainly does not sound nice, Fressa.  I saw several posts from friends in Maryland, and it was snowy and icy there.  And, it seems like DD's area of SC is getting very cold weather.

I heard from her on Friday -- she said it was a long and hard day at work, and she had a migraine.  My SIL finally got signed up for health insurance, etc. on Friday.  They had gone to a financial adviser the previous week, and DD met with him on Thursday.  My SIL wanted to move his 401 K (or IRA?) money from his old company to a different account.  Looks like the financial planner had some good suggestions.

There was a breakfast for the senior lunch program volunteers Friday morning that was very nice.  The Sheriff's Auxiliary was extremely quiet in the afternoon.   I did manage to do almost all of my Christmas cards Friday evening and mailed them on Saturday.

The "Caregivers" met for an early lunch yesterday, and there was a neighborhood holiday party this afternoon.  I was late since I did not come until after church, but the party was nice.  So was lunch yesterday, but our oldest member was still not well enough to attend.  She has been sick quite a lot the past year.  I think she is in her mid 90's so I guess that is to be expected.

After the party today, I went to the gym, and I need to do a little cooking and ironing now.  I tried making some lemon bars from a mix, and they were a total disaster.  I should have made them from my tried and true recipe, but was trying to save time.  There were plenty of desserts at the party, so they were not missed, but....

That is certainly nice about the Meijer gift cards, Bernie.  They do not have any stores in this area or I would be interested.

I work at the Sheriff's Auxiliary tomorrow afternoon, and have a very busy week with volunteer work on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, medical appointments (routine) on Wednesday and Friday, and a "newcomers" lunch on Thursday.  So, I guess I won't have time to get into trouble.

Our weather is warmer in the mornings (40's), but quite warm later in the day (upper 70's or 80.)  Very dry, and we could really use the rain.  But, I am certainly not complaining.

Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone stays safe and warm.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time, Friday, December 5th

Hi y'all!

Let me introduce myself.  I am SouthernFried, so named because I am a transplanted mid-westerner living now in coastal Alabama.  During the long, hot and humid summers, I often feel like I'm being cooked alive. Kind of like a chicken...southern fried!

I'm in my mid 60's, "retired" from former careers in accounting/auditing and stay-at-home mom.  My husband is also retired.  We have 2 adult children and 3 young grandkids.

My husband's job required a good bit of relocating.  We have lived on the east and west coasts, and now live on the gulf coast.  We also lived for 6 years in two different European countries.  Good thing we like to travel, right?  We're finished with moving now, and thankfully love where we've ended up.

Anyway, I've enjoyed reading your posts for years, and will chime in now and then when I can.  Have a great week!

Linda, the headphones and tablet are from me to me.  What a relief that your SIL got signed up for health insurance.  You had a busy weekend and it sounds like a nice time at the neighborhood holiday party.

Welcome, welcome @SouthernFried

I'm Michigan born and bred and have lived here my entire life.  I can handle the cold a lot better than I can handle the heat and humidity so if I ever did move it would probably be to another state with a similar climate.  I'm in my early 60's and retired from a life in health insurance.  Widow with no children.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time, Friday, December 5th

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Hope you like both the headphones and tablet, Bernie.

Thanks for providing some more information    SouthernFried.  One of my friends (and former boss) moved to coastal Alabama from Maryland when she retired.  She enjoyed it there during much of the year, but spent summers in Maryland (beach) or North Carolina (also beach area).  A couple of years ago, she moved back to a senior apartment in Maryland since most of her family lives there.  She is 10 plus years older than me, and her health is not the best.

Glad you and your DH are happy there in AL.  It must have been very interesting to move so much and spend time in Europe.  Until a few years before I retired, I thought I would not move from Maryland (Washington, DC area).  But, many factors ended up changing my mind.  Unlike Bernie, I can handle heat (particularly dry heat) much better than cold.

Glad you enjoy traveling and could deal with relocating so often.

I had ordered some clothes from Lands End for my SIL, and the shirts did not fit (too short).  He wanted to exchange them for the Tall version.  DD and he were busy working, so I called Lands End -- waited at least 20 minutes to speak to someone.  Either it was her first day on the job or she was at some remote location since her answers took a very long time.  Turns out they do not do exchanges, and I decided to get a refund rather than forcing them to find a Kohl's to return the shirts.  Then I had to decide whether to get a store credit (decided not to) or send it via FedEx or the USPS.  I decided on FedEx.  Hope that works for them.

All this resulted in me starting my walk quite late, so I do not have much time to complete my morning tasks.  Oh well.....

Jean said it was zero degrees in her area this morning.  DD (who lives in SC) said that she used a heater that prevented her pipes from freezing.  Definitely much better weather here unless you are a lover of extreme cold.

Waves to Bernie, SouthernFried, Fressa, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice evening!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time, Friday, December 5th

Welcome Southern Fried!!!

It was nice to hear from you. I think I'm one of the somewhat newer members. I started reading the postings a few years ago and just enjoyed the topics, etc. I'm retired  and a mother and grnadmother. I love my Germand Shepherd dogs and have 2 seniors ones now.  I lived in GA for about 3 years and moved back to the NE years ago. I love the cold and didn't do well with the heat. We tackle quite a few DIY projects with our house so we always have a project in process during some time in any given year. I'm hoping that we only have another year or two of them.

Happy Holidays!
