Good Evening! It has been a much cooler than normal day here with a high temperature of 59 degrees. Lots of clouds and a few sprinkles as well. Tomorrows high is expected to be in the upper 60's, highs in the 70's on Sunday, 80's on Monday, and 90's on Tuesday. Yikes! Hope none of you had difficulty with storms and/or snow or flooding and you are keeping warm.
Yesterday (my last day) at the hospice was pretty emotional for me, and I ended up staying longer than planned. Several volunteers came in to turn in their badges, etc., and it was good to talk with them. I am getting positive responses to the luncheon and gift for Jackie.
Today they had a staff meeting at the hospice and invited volunteers to attend. As far as I know, only one volunteer did so. Long story, but he ended up coming by the house and told me what was said.
I finally got the results of the blood test I had on Monday, and I don't think there were any big problems. I asked to speak to my provider about it, but did not hear back. In addition, they had not sent over the order for physical therapy, but did so today. (I asked about that yesterday, but apparently the computers were down until today).
I visited one of my former hospice patients this morning, and she was in bad shape. She was sleeping, but not comfortably, and had refused to get up for breakfast, etc. The aide came in to take her to the bathroom, dress her, and take her to lunch. But, the aide could not get her out of bed until she got help from another aide. I stayed with her for a while, but she was just not with it, so I left after 45 minutes or so.
Tomorrow is a "newcomers" luncheon and fashion show -- should be fun.
Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Barbara, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers. Hope everyone had a nice day and sleeps well. Please post when you have time.
Hugs,
Linda

I have never posted on this particular thread but have read your posts many times. Today I feel the need to tell you how much I admire your work at Hospice. My father died one year ago today and spent his last four days at Hospice before he passed away. The staff was wonderful and made his last few days better than I could have hoped. He was a lung cancer survivor but had developed COPD. After several battles with pneumonia, he just couldn't recover one last time. I was so grateful his suffering and pain was gone at the end. The kindness shown by everyone there was such a gift. Again, thank you for helping those of us who needed it at such a difficult time.

Thank you for sharing your family's experience with hospice, Pittfanatic. I am very happy that your Dad's transition was made easier with hospice.
I started volunteering with hospice after my husband's death in 2018). He had been on hospice for 2 1/2 years, and I came to really appreciate the value of hospice and the caring staff. The hospice chaplain suggested that I volunteer, and after six months or so, I decided to give it a try. And, it has been very rewarding to me. I certainly hope that I can find another hospice where I can volunteer, ideally with the same volunteer coordinator.
As predicted, it is getting warmer here, and now they are predicting highs in the mid to upper 90's by Thursday. What a change from a high of 59 on Friday.
Hope none of you are having the horrible weather and storms that are hitting many parts of the country.
The luncheon yesterday lasted four hours rather than the three that was expected. I was really not happy with spending so much time there -- mostly looking at fashions from three local boutiques. They had club members wear the clothes and dance around the room. Overkill.
I really wanted to get another pair of the Sketchers TSV from January (with the arch support), so today I ordered a pair with the free shipping. The price is higher than the TSV price, but not too much higher.
Waves to Pittfanatic, Fressa, Bernie, Barbara, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.

Linda

Hi Everyone!
We had snow last night thru this morning! The sun is out and it's cool. YIPPIE!!! It rained most of the weekend but not like other states are enduring
Our weekend project of taking the shelves off the wall is completed. It did take longer than expected but that part is done. Our floor plan had some "surprises" when it came to the space issue but now it's a "work in progress" .
LindaLatte---I agree that 3hours is too long for a "meeting/luncheon". I hope you had some time to unwind. Those types of stress and change can be a heavy load.
I didn't watch too much of the Q over the weekend. I liked the JRivers jacket but refrained from buying it. I have lots of clothes but I need to sort thru them. I've gained some weight and I don't think it's going anywhere. I'll probably start a donation pile sooner than later.
Have a good afternoon/evening.

Good afternoon it's a nice sunny day here still on the cool side with The temp about 45
I have been remiss in posting because I've had a terrible flare that mean his made it very difficult for me to walk. I saw my pain doctor yesterday and he ordered lots of tests to check out what is going on because he said it's more than the back at this point in time that will not really be resolved until summer because everything takes lots of time up here. I am getting another injection lower in my back on the 22nd. Not looking forward to that.
I have a push type wheelchair that Vyrn got out of the garage space for me and he pushed me around in that yesterday to get into the doctor🤨🤨 office. Not today I'm moving a little bit better which is good because I have and eye appointment this afternoon
when I am not feeling well, it becomes to Manage all of the stuff that I have to manage. But at least I know my brain is still intact.
I just wanted to check in. Hugs to all of our Posters and readers🥰🥰🌷🌷

Barbara @sydsgma1 I'm sorry that you're having so much pain and that it's affecting your mobility.
Linda @LindaLatte I'm sure it was emotional for you to leave the hospice. It's a shame that management alienated so many wonderful volunteers.
@Fressa Our weather has been crazy. We had a day where it was somewhat mild (low 40's) and then high winds and snow moved through. I think we're expecting sleet/snow tonight and tomorrow.
Not alot of excitement in my neck of the woods, lol. I ripped up wall to wall carpeting in the upstairs hallway last Friday and wow did I feel it the day after. I ordered a pair of gray dress slacks (good color for any occasion) and a pair of slingback pumps in navy.
I didn't have a single 'dress' shoe in the house and it was driving me nuts, lol.

Good Afternoon/Evening! Our weather is certainly different than most of yours -- it is sunny and has already reached 90 degrees today. Glad you are happy with the weather in your area, Fressa.
Very sorry you are in such pain, Barbara. I pray you will feel better soon. Hope your eye appointment went well.
Really like those shoes, Bernie. Sorry your back was aching after you pulled up the carpet.
Today is Jean's birthday, and like last year, she is in the hospital (different hospital, but....) I do not know what happened, but on Facebook she said -- "The trauma surgeon was just in. Looking at 2 weeks of rehab followed by new x-rays at which time the next step will be determined."
The two other volunteers were out at the senior lunch program yesterday, and I was extremely busy getting things prepared and refilled. On top of that, I dropped a large container of salad dressing and at least a third of it ended up on the floor. I used rags and paper towels (no mop available), but warned the director that everyone should be careful. She assured me the cleaning crew would do a good job last night.
Last year, the garage told me my car needed work (not immediately, but it was needed within a few months), and I took it in early this morning. The garage is about three miles away from my house, and I asked if someone could give me a ride home. A very nice young man had me drive and then drove my car back to the garage. The manager said that he hopes it will be finished today, and I hope so as well. Also not sure about the cost, but I sure it won't be inexpensive.
Much to my surprise, my second grandson (who was planning to get married in July), ended up getting married at the courthouse yesterday (on his lunch hour, no less). He promised that they will still have a ceremony in July, but the location has changed. So, I spent time yesterday changing my airline tickets to a different airport and finding a hotel near that airport since the flight home (as well as the flight there) are very early in the morning.
Long story, but they seem very happy to be married. I sure hope the July wedding or at least a party will still happen.
Waves to Bernie, Barbara, Fressa, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.
Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi Everyone!
It's cool and raining today. It will be good for the flowers/bulbs. I'm bad at remembering to water the gardens. It looks like this will be a good year for the holly tees & scrubs. You never know what will bloom year to year.
sydsgma1----I hope you're feeling better today. Hopefully, you'll make your appointment and have some relief.
LindaLatte--Hope your weather is not too hot and you received your test results.
Yesterday I was busy decluttering the holiday storage room. I hope to move the craft/wreath supplies in there with the decorations. Currently they were in the workroom.
Sooner or later it will all come together. I should be in good shape by the time garden season happens around here.
I haven't seen too much of the Q which is probably a good thing for my charge card.LOL I need to return to my budget and not be tempted by "free shipping" and "easy pay". I am glad that I did order the DB raincoat. It really is nice and expecially in pink.
We must have some new delivery drivers on our route. Half the time our packages are left next to the mailbox on the street. Not sure what is up with that but hopefully that will change. I saw a notice that the postage might increas 5cents in the summer. I thought I just purchased stamps a few months ago. UGH!!!
Have a good afternoon/evening.

Good Afternoon/Evening! Hope your weather continues to please you, Fressa. You would definitely not be happy here -- expected high of 100 and already 96 degrees. I'm okay with the heat, especially since the house is still cool, but this is early for 100 degrees (probably will set a record). I am not waiting for test results, perhaps you meant Jean. I have not seen any updates from her.
Yesterday was very busy. I helped out with the senior lunch program since there was only one volunteer and a salad bar day -- you really need two people since there is also a hot meal. All went well, thank goodness.
I came home and ate a little lunch before going out to the grocery store(s) and Walmart. That always takes longer than I plan. Anyway, I went to the gym around 4:00 p.m. and was very sleepy when I got home. Really felt like an old lady.
Very happy to report that this morning I was able to walk around the neighborhood much longer than I have been able to do for quite a while. My feet are still bothering me, and my gait isn't good, but..... I visited one of my former hospice patients, and she was so much better than last Friday. Her niece arrived, and I told her that I would like to continue to visit (despite not working with hospice), and her niece said she would be happy if I did so.
Then, I stopped off the hospice office to drop off an obituary that mentioned them in the local paper, and talked a bit with the hospice chaplain and the acting manager for the day (the only two people who were in the office). When I left, the chaplain told me to keep in touch and I promised to do so.
Nothing exciting planned for the rest of the day. I am meeting a volunteer for coffee tomorrow so she can sign the card for Jackie and give me a contribution toward the gift card.
Waves to Fressa, Barbara, Bernie, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.
Hope everyone has a nice evening.
Hugs,
Linda

Just saw an update from Jean on FB. I am removing references to locations, but thought some of you might be interested. This is what Jean said --
