Shopaholics One Day at a Time - August 21st, Tuesday

Good Morniing,

I just ate breakfast (last 2 bananas that were getting ripe) and am enjoying my coffee as I wait for the notification from the appliance repair guy that he's on his way.

I called the contact number on Sunday to more or less get hours of operation and was surprised when an employee answered.  I guess since they also provide packages that cover furnace, A/C and water heaters, it makes sense they would have someone available 7 days a week.

I was able to get an appointment for today, some time between 9 am and noon.  Here's hoping that this appointment goes better than the one from last week.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - August 21st, Tuesday

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Bernie - Thank you for starting us today.  Hope the repairperson comes sooner rather than later.  Glad they could come so quickly thought.  How are all the "kids" doing?

Not much happening here today, we are having heavy rain showers here, I would love to send this rain to CA, they would love it.  I do hope they get the fires under control soon, I feel so sorry not just for the people but all the animals displaced.

I need to get busy and do a couple constructive things around here today, I may start with ironing a few things and then working my way to bigger things.  Time will tell.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hello Ladies, I hope your appliance guy comes when he says Bernie. I think that happened to one of my dryers several years ago.....clothes never dried,I think it was a fuse thst probably costs 5 bucks but forgot how much they charged ...that dryer is long gone though.....fixed other times for different problems and  I said that's it....wound up with a new w/d about 2 yrs ago.  I figured the washer would start to give me problems so that went too.   I too went to Catholic grammar school from k/8th....but now a days I think they do things a little different.  My g/s started to change classes in the 4th grade last year so they would be ready for 5th grade....

Susan it has been turning into a crummy day here...the sun was shining this morning but has now disappeared.I too wish we could sent Calif. some of our rain this summer....this month we have gotten 6 inches or so.

Not much else going on here...have some laundry to do....Bernie my w/d are my favorite appliances too!  I do wash several times a week..the only thing I don't like to do is put the folded clothes away....now if some body could invent a machine to do that!

     have a nice day everyone.....Marijane

Hi Susan @PAlady, I was relieved to see an appliance repair man that was my age or older, lol.  I could tell from his clipboard that he was from the same company as the young guy last week so I knew to watch what I said.

I mentioned that a guy came out exactly a week ago to investigate the noise that I heard in the dryer and I was told that it's to be expected with the age of the unit (10 years old).  I also said I wasn't confident with that answer because the noise was sudden onset but what are you doing to do? Woman Wink

Rick said, so someone was out here last week?  I said oh yes, from the company you work for as a matter of fact.  Rick says young guy or old guy.  I said Andy, young guy.  He said Andy is my nephew and I said, small world Woman Happy

As it turns out, the idler pully is messed up, seized and broke the drum belt.  Rick was thorough - he disassembled the whole thing whereas Andy peeked through a panel at the front bottom part of the dryer.

So I asked Rick, would that idler pully going make noise?  He knew where I was going and said, could be Woman Very Happy

Rick didn't have my size of dryer drum belt so he has to order it.  He'll be back next Tuesday, same bat time, same bat station.

Hey Marijane @Genny1, if you see the post above this one, it describes my experience today.

It's so humid here that I've been holding off doing a load of wash.  I must be the last person in this neighborhood with an outdoor clothesline and hanging wash out there won't do anything until the rain and humidity move out.

I do have a shorter clothesline jerry rigged in the basement but with the A/C on, the basement stays cool and it takes longer for the clothes to dry on that line.

Sigh.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - August 21st, Tuesday

Good Morning/Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  Glad you have a possible solution for your dryer problem, but sorry it will take another week.  I have a couple of collapsible indoor drying racks, which are usually great.  Of course, this is Arizona, and normally dry.  However, these racks would not work for sheets or towels.  So, I would probably head to the laundromat if I needed to tale care of them.  Very pricey and not very nice, but.....

Waves to Susan, Marijane, and all of our posters and readers.  I have the senior lunch program today and plan to go to the gym this afternoon.

I am concerned about drops from my car on the driveway (not sure what they are), and I called the local dealership to see if they can help.  No return call yet, so this may be a slow process.  I really don't think it is a major issue (just a few drops), but I'm pretty big on car maintenance.  Worrying about the problem woke me up at 4:00 a.m., so I expect to be very tired later on today.

Have a nice day everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Linda @LindaLatte  If the drops on the driveway just look like rain drops it could be condensation from running the A/C.  If the drops are brownish, could be oil or brake fluid. If the drops look pinkish/reddish, could be transmission fluid.

Bernie - I think he knows his nephew is not doing a great job there.  Hopefully, he has a discussion with him.

Linda - I you have a large piece of cardboard, put it under the car and you can give them an idea from what area the drops are coming from.

Good evening, everyone. I just got in from work, made more fun by winds, heavy rain, and stuff blown in the road. I just caught the end of the Denim and Co. show, and now a diamond tennis necklacce for $6,000.  I don't think so!

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - August 21st, Tuesday

Thanks ladies for the car leak information.  I had read about the cardboard trick, and tried newspapers -- fail.   Meanwhile, I was busy, and came back from "work" to call the dealership yet again.  After the fourth call, I finally decided to check out other options for service.  I found a very highly rated place, and they answered on the first ring.  I have an appointment tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.  I found a box in my recycle pile, so I will hopefully have something to show the mechanic.  No lights on the dashboard, and I don't notice any breaking problems, so I hope it is just a minor issue.

DH bought the car in Maryland, we had only used the Arizona dealership when there were recalls.  But, reading the reviews, it seems like they might be good at selling cars, but pretty horrible with service.  Another person talked about leaving multiple messages and not hearing anything for four days.  Others talked about long waits, and poor service.   Yikes!  I know the dealerships in Maryland were very overpriced, but they did answer the phone.
