Shopaholics One Day at A Time (Saturday, Jan.26th)

Good Morning, Ladies!  It is sunny here today, and it should make it into the 60's later.  This morning, when I got up it was 33 degrees, which felt chilly.  I know some of you are expecting or may even have very cold weather.  Hope you keep warm.

My oldest DGS flew back to Maryland from training in Boston yesterday, and I have not heard about any delays.  He will need to go back up there soon and then on to Philadelphia after that trip.  Busy guy.

Lunch was nice yesterday, I talked with a lady who comes when I'm working, but I have not had a chance to talk with before.  Turns out that she was a long haul truck driver.  I know one of our former posters had a daughter who did that, and I am quite impressed.

After lunch, I had a very good hospice visit, and I will try to visit on a weekly basis starting next Wednesday.  The patient asked that I call ahead in case he would not be available.

Grocery shopping went okay, and I picked up a book and a DVD that I had placed on hold at the library.  So, yesterday was a busy and good day.

In addition to my regular Saturday chores (laundry and financial review), I have a HOA annual meeting and lunch today.  Unfortunately, I do not like the lunch they will have (and have had for several years).  The caterer brings in two types of wraps, and I guess I just don't care much for wraps, or at least their wraps..

So sorry about your DH"s fall, twinny.  DH fell in the bathroom in the middle of the night at least twice, and the second time he hit his head and had to go to the ER, etc.  Hope your DH is okay and the glue on the towel rack works.

Much to my surprise the wreath I ordered yesterday has already shipped.  Pretty wild.  I guess they were afraid I might change my mind.  LOL

I saw some of the AM Styles, but nothing called my name too loudly, thank goodness.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day, and please post if you have a chance.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Shopaholics One Day at A Time (Saturday, Jan.26th)

My thanks to everyone here for your kind thoughts for my Dh. He is still in the hospital..they found a smallmrecurrence of his bladder cancer so had to remove that, which postponed the stone surgery until Monday. He is in good spirits and very little pain.

my oldest dd, syds mom, is here and it is great to have company .

Again thankyou. I will keep you all posted.😘😘

I just posted to you on the other thread Barbara @sydsgma1.  Thank you for sharing the good news about the doctor catching the small recurrence of the cancer.

Hi Linda @LindaLatte  Thanks for starting the thread today.  I'm so glad to read that you had a good hospice visit yesterday.

My eldest great niece will be making her first holy communion in May.  It hit me that I don't have a pair of pumps, suitable for church.  I had a pair of kitten heel slingbacks that I wore to my friend Ruth's funeral in 2016.  I pitched them because they were harder for me to walk in than a tall heel.

I ordered these taupe pumps from DSW this morning.

If I can find a cute olive colored skirt, I have a top and shrug that are perfect.

If I can't find a cute olive colored skirt, I'll probably wear my navy pencil skirt and this Jaclyn Smith blouse (Kmart).

I'm going to need something to go over this blouse and would like to pull a bright color out of the print like an orange or marigold yellow.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at A Time (Saturday, Jan.26th)

Linda L, it is cold here,  but the house is warm and our Subaru has heated seats for when we go to church tomorrow morning.   Kind of spoiled myself.  Our dsil flies to Boston about every 6 weeks for a few days at a time.  He usually gets caught in a blizzard or worse.  He is an IT Specialist and goes with a co worker and their boss.  He usually has airline problems of some kind.  The rest of the time he is lucky to be able to work from home. His work travels are all expenses paid so that is a nice perk.  Sometimes he can meet up with our ds & ddil.  I am glad that you had a nice lunch with your friend.  I have never had a wrap. They don't look good to me.

Barbara, my prayers are going out to you and your DH.  I am glad that he doesn't have a lot of pain and I hope that his surgery on Monday goes well.  It is nice that your dd is with you.

Bird Mama. I love the heels from DSW.  My DD gave me a gift card at Christmas from there.  Then she remarked that I had sooooo many shoes.  lol.  She needed a pair of dressy shoes a while ago and had to go shopping.  She has as many nice athletic shoes though as I have shoes. I think that almost anything would look nice with  your new heels.

I saw no ams this morning.  I had to steam mop the floors and do a batch of laundry.  I hadn't done much around  the house for a couple of weeks.

It's cold outside but not bad to me.  We are supposed to get 5-8" of snow starting Sunday night into Monday morning & then it's supposed to be bitterly cold.  I am good to go unless it's -10°  or worse.  We are meeting some good friends for lunch tomorrow.  Just 20 miles away.  Trying to beat the snow storm.

I spoke to our 16 year old dgs last night to wish him a Happy 16th Birthday & he still isn't feeling very good.  He didn't want to go to his favorite restaurant last night with his family and didn't care about what they were having for dinner.  I hope that he feels better soon because he will be taking his driving test on Tuesday.

My DH seems to be back to normal.  No aches and pains yet anyhow.  Since we did our shopping on Thursday instead of Friday, I haven't had time to look for the Gorilla Glue that's supposed to fix anything.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at A Time (Saturday, Jan.26th)

@twinny70  Gorilla glue is right up there with duct tape as far as household staples.  I have a big bottle of the regular (all purpose) that comes out like elmers glue and dries without showing.

I recently fixed the drawer (that I never use) under the kitchen sink with the clear version of Gorilla glue.

My kitchen cabinet doors and drawers look like this.  The oak trim (part you grab) fell out of the drawer so I had to figure out how to clamp the oak trim back on drawer.  Of course this happened on Christmas Eve and when my sister came over so I could drive to niece in the woods house she said, what's up with cabinet?  I said, never mind, it will be cured by the time you come for dinner tomorrow. Woman Very Happy

You can find gorilla glue most places like home depot, target, walgreens and stores like that.  I recommend it highly.  It's keeping bits of my house together, lol.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at A Time (Saturday, Jan.26th)

Bird Mama. Thanks.  That's just what I need.  I have heard how great it is.  If I have time, I will look for it tomorrow.  Why is it that something always happens when we are getting company or a special occasion?

We are getting a dusting of snow.  According to the old Indian formula, we were supposed to get 9 snowfalls this year and this dusting makes 9.

‘twinny I have used that gorilla glue also...on chair legs and also a small table...works great,it is also  sold in supermarkets too...at least that is where I got mine.  happy that your DH was not hurt.  I hope your DGS will be ok for his drivers test next week.

bernie I think your outfit sounds very nice, hopefully by May you will be able to find the olive skirt.

Barbara ,hope your DH will be on the road to recovery quickly after the stone is removed.

Linda your first hospices visit sounded very well liked by the patient.  You are performing a great service.

it it was sunny today but chilly..I think snow may be on its way Tuesday and very cold air.   Enjoy your evening everyone....Marijane
