Shopaholics: One Day At A Time (Tuesday, Jan. 8th)

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

I was considering the TSV but still not sure.  I guess I will wait until a few reviews come in and see if I still want it.  I don't think the real price will be much more than the TSV price ( I learned my lesson on that many years ago).

Not much going on here today, I have some ironing to do and DH has a followup appt. with the neurologist.

Just wanted to get the thread going today ( I think it is my turn).  Hope everyone has a great moring.  I must start the ironing or will not do it today.

Have a good day.

Re: Shopaholics: One Day At A Time (Tuesday, Jan. 8th)

Good Morning and thanks for getting us started, Susan.  Hope your DH's neurologist appointment goes well.  Like you, I am considering the TSV, but just not sure.  Probably will follow your lead -- wait for the reviews before ordering.

I have the senior lunch program and gym today.  The hospice volunteer coordinator contacted me to see if I am available for training next Monday since this Thursday did not work for another potential volunteer.  Hope Monday will work for the three of us.

DH's DD called me yesterday evening, and we had a nice talk.  She has decided to come for a brief visit to pick up the other half of DH's ashes.  She said that I was welcome to come out to CA do deliver them, but I am not interested in a weekend visit. at this point.  Hopefully, the weather will cooperate when she visits (probably next month or March).

Waves to all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

HEllo Ladies...I hope your DH Drs visit goes well today Susan...how is your Mom doing? THis makes three of us who are debating the s/v...when I first received the pre order I was all set to order, but forget about it,but now it's back on my mind again.  We had snow on the ground this morning but it is about 40 degrees out so it has melted but very very foggy out.   OUr tree came down yesterday and it's waiting out by the cub t be picked up...whenever that may be.  Candles out of the windows but I still have a lot more to do....I always say I didn't put it up in a day so it's not gonna be taken down in a day.

There's not.much else going on here....have.a nice day everyone...Marijane

Hello Susan @PAlady, Linda @LindaLatte and Marijane @Genny1

I started my day at the dentist, getting a cleaning.  Even though I have no pain or symptoms, I've been thinking about a 3 piece fixed bridge in my mouth lately.  I asked the hygienist to really check the gumline around the two crowns (either end).  I knew I had the bridge for some time now and figured since this is the last year of my COBRA coverage, I won't be seeing annual benefit maximums like this once I become an individual dental subscriber.

She felt the tiniest soft spot where the fake tooth is attached to the crown behind it.  I made the mistake of talking about candy and said I have always been the type of person who liked taffy, milk duds, good and plenty.  This woman has cleaned my teeth for years so I know this is not an epiphany, lol.

My dentist was on vacation so the exam that comes with the cleaning was performed by another dentist in the practice.  Honestly, that dentist came in and Leah (the hygienist) started talking about the fact that I like chewy, gooey candy.  Before the dentist came in, Leah checked the records and determined the bridge was put in back in 1997.

When Leah wouldn't let it go I said, Leah, that's enough.  The bridge is 21 years old - did you honestly think it would last a lifetime?  That shut her up and the dentist just laughed.

I asked that a filling on my upper left eye tooth be replaced - dentist concurred.  I go for that on the 24th when my dentist will be there.  The office will do a pre-auth for the new bridge and that should be about the extent of the dental work I need this year.

Oh yea, the dentist looked in my mouth and said oh, you have a tonsil stone.  I said, a what?!  Apparently there is a little calcification on my left tonsil that has been quite common for patients that have been going through colds.  The dentist said, if you don't have a strong gag reflex you could probably get that out with a q-tip.

Errr, and, ummm - I think I will try salt water rinses for awhile.  I've been reading about tonsils and they are quite sensitive little things back there in your throat.  I'm not sure that me poking around back there is a good idea Woman LOL

Re: Shopaholics: One Day At A Time (Tuesday, Jan. 8th)

Susan, I hope that your dh's follow-up appointment goes well as well as the PT & OT.  I know that it's a lot of hard work and tiring.  It's amazing what Dr's can do now days.

Linda L, it looks like you have a busy day ahead of you.  It's nice that your dh's dd will be coming for a visit soon.  She sounds like a wonderful thoughtful person.

Marijane, we have no snow either & only had a dusting on NYE.  It was a record breaking temp of 50° yesterday and Saturday.  It felt like Spring.  We had rain all day yesterday.  Our Christmas things came down on Saturday and my DH said "gee it looks so nice around here again." .

Yesterday was oven clean up day for me.  On Sunday night my DH dropped a TV dinner  getting it out of the hot oven and it went all over the place.  Then last night I dropped the meatloaf getting it out of the oven and made an even worse mess.

This morning we had his diabetes class & then had a nice lunch in their cafe.  The class has been very beneficial as it keeps him on the right path for healthy meals and still feeling full.

My DH has been having trouble hearing, so yesterday he went to get his ears cleaned.  He still can't hear me, so tomorrow he has an appointment at the Hearing Center.  It seems like all we do is go to appointments. This is new territory for my dh.

Tomorrow we are going to see our favorite polka band.

On Thursday, I have labs early and then go back to see my rheumatologist & then my GP.  I hope that she is happy with me.

Supper is leftover meatloaf, sweet potatoes and green beans & I am NOT using my oven.

Hugs to all of you.

Bird Mama, that's another reason for me to hate the Dentist.  I don't eat anything gooey or chewy because my fillings fall out too easy without that kind of candy.  My DH had a 5 tooth bridge put in about 50 years ago (he was in a car accident at 19) and the first time It came out was when he was eating corn on the cob just a few years ago.  I have been warning him about taking a big bite out of an 🍎🍎🍎.  He didn't believe me & it came out again last year.  Now he uses an 🍎 slicer.

Thank goodness I don't have tonsils!

Re: Shopaholics: One Day At A Time (Tuesday, Jan. 8th)

Susan-Thank you for starting the thread. I do hope  DH's appointment with the neurologist goes well. I don't know what the TSV is but often it does pay to wait for the reviews.

Linda--Hopefully the Hospice volunteers can get together; it seems like it is difficult at times fo find times mutally available. I am glad that you and DH's DD have had good talks and that she might visit.

Marijane--It does take time to take down all those decorations. I think that is one reason I don't do much of it. Snow? I thoiught that was a weekend event.

Bernie--I've never heard of a tonsil stone. It sounds as if you are making sure dental needs are done while you have good coverage.

Twinny--I once made the comment that my life revolves around appointments with various specialists. I do hope that DH's hearing issue is resolved. The diabetes classes can be very helpful if the suggestions are followed which I know will be done.

Yesterday, I went to the orthopedic and got a cortisone shot, got my car's oil changed, tires rotated and also state inspection. I ventured into Lowes which is dangerous for me but managed to get the one item I wanted. I was not feeling well  last evening when I got home so I finally went to bed and slept nine hours. The normal for me is six to seven hours.

I worked today and will work again Thursday. Tomorrow, I am expecting the lawyer to call so I'm staying home. It was 65 degrees when I came home, definitely not normal for January but there are rumors of snow possibly coming.

I guess I'd better see what the TSV is as it has been tempting to some.

Bernie - I used to get tonsil stones until I got my tonsils out.  They have a terrible smell and taste at times.

Getting a lot of sleep last night was a good thing.  I hope that the cortisone shot helps because they are painful.  We don't have vehicle inspections in our state.  We might get a bit of snow on Friday night.  Good thing that you got your car serviced too.    Now you just need some more nice weather.

@PAlady  This is the first stone and thank God it's not huge and it's on one tonsil only.  I made the mistake of googling tonsil stones and yea, I was stupid enough to watch a video.  It was kind of like watching a house on fire in the neighborhood, you just can't turn away Woman Surprised

I'm keeping my eye on it.  I know I said in my original post that I would not remove it myself.  If it starts to get a scent, I'll overcome the willies about it and get it out.  I cannot walk around with bad breath.  I have a doctor appointment on Friday.  Sure, he's my ob/gyn but he agreed to treat me head to toe like my doctor (who died) before him.  I might ask him for ideas.  The dentist didn't seemed freak out at all.
