Shopaholics: One Day At A Time (Thursday, Feb. 15th)

Good Morning, Ladies!  We had off and on rain (mostly light rain) yesterday, and it continued over night.  And, the rain should continue for the next couple of hours at least.  We certainly need the rain, but I realize how much I love sunny days when we have these rare  rainy ones.  It is also pretty cool compared to recent days -- highs expected in the upper 50's or maybe 60 degrees.  I know that sounds balmy for many of you.

DH's DD surprised me by sending Valentine's Day flowers yesterday.  It is a lovely basket, and I really appreciate them.  Hope everyone had an okay or better day yesterday.  I saw on FB that Jean was thinking about buying candy for herself now that the price has been reduced.  I have found that most of the candy I like is gone by the day after the holiday.  I hope she has better luck if she decides to buy some.

I am headed to the gym this morning, and then I have a caregivers meeting.  I'll be visiting DH later, and expect the hospice nurse to visit as well.  He was smiling when I arrived yesterday, and he was in a good mood. But, after lunch, he fell asleep, so I did not regret skipping the party they were having later.  Part of the reason is that he is often sleepy in the afternoon, and he cannot eat any of the treats.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Hi  Linda @LindaLatte  That was really lovely of your beloved's daughter to send you flowers for Valentine's Day.

My sister dropped off a card and candy on my front porch on Tuesday (I was working at home).  She texted me and said, check your porch Woman Happy

Yesterday was 'my niece in the woods' 38th birthday.  I remember vividly the day she was born, I was in my last year of highschool.

I woke up about 45 minutes before the alarm sounded.  I just stayed up and started a load of wash while the computer was booting up.

It warmed up considerably yesterday and today and the snow mounds are melting.  Yard is sloppy because the ground is hard, so there are puzzles all over.  Felt bad for the squirrels having to walk around in it.

Linda--Thank you for starting the thread. What a wonderful surprise and treat to receive flowers for Valentine's Day from DH's DD. You very much deserve them.  It was good that DH was smiling when you visited.

I hav to admit that the post I made on FB was one made in fun. Why?  So many people were posting pictures of flowers and candy that I decided to make a fun post as I haven't received anything like that in years.

I worked today and will tomorrow. I received a phone call that my United Kingdom currency was in and could be picked up at AAA. When I first started planning this trip, the exchange rate was at a decent rate. The dollar is losing its value. It is good that I had already booked and paid for most of our activities there at a better exchange rate.

Jean @KonaKat  Even though you posted in jest, holiday candy is always priced better immediately after the holiday.

In the beginning, my husband used to send floral arrangements to me at work.  Bless his heart the arrangements were so large they looked funereal Woman LOL  They came from a popular and shi-shi florist  (yes I am gonna out them) -  Viviano's.

The first couple of times I hid the roses that were, uhh, not at their peak freshness.  I knew he was being taken every time he ordered the flowers.

I actually did spend 7 years living above a funeral home - parents were caretakers.  I lied to my husband and told him roses reminded me of dead people.  I asked for a colorful bunch of carnations that you could get on the cheap at Meijer's or any local florist.

Honestly, those flowers lasted forever and meant more to me.

Bernie--I think roses are lovely but too many of them create a scent that I can't stand, somewhat like a funeral home as you said. I get a headache when around them too long.
