Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Well today is the big day, who are your cheering for? I really don't care who wins the game today, I just watch it for the commercials. I saw on YouTube yesterday the Puppy Love Budweiser commercial. Not sure if that is new one or an old one, but it was soooooooo cute!

Right now I a watching Hagit-Israeli Jewelry, I have a pair of earrings of hers and I really like them, she has a ring on now I think I will put it on my wish list and revisit it in a couple months and see if I still like it. I put things on my wish list and go back later to see if I still like it, funny there are times I look at an item and thing "What was I smoking that day that I thought I liked this.". Putting things on my wish list first has saved me a few dollars.

Oh yeah, I forgot, Happy Groundhogs Day everyone, let see what Phil says. I have the Weather Channel on and they are showing Punxsutawney, PA and the party going on there. It should be interesting to see what the groundhog says, I have a feeling I know already.

Well off to walk the dog, hope everyone has a great morning.

Re: Shopaholics - ODAT - Sunday

Good morning ladies! Susan like you I am just looking forward to the commercials tonight! The puppy Budweiser commercial is new for this year it is adorable. I wish they would do more of them during the year. Staten Island. Chuck is another who saw their shadow and they just said on TV he has run an 80% accurate prediction over the years.......and tomorrow w e are supposed to get 4 inches of snow then Wednesday freezing rain. it is very foggy out now and in the low 40's. I haven't looked at any of the silver today will have to go back and check. it's a good idea to put things on your wish list...like you I look at purchases I have made and say what was I thinking ? Not much going on today, I will run out to the store this morning and do some things around the house. Have a nice day everyone, Marijane

Re: Shopaholics - ODAT - Sunday

Good morning ladies...I'll be watching tonight and not really rooting for any team. I enjoy football and watching the game. My brother and sister in law will be coming with the baby (of course) and my dad will be there. I'm going to try and make a dip that Jill B. posted on her blog, we'll order some pizza and I picked up some cupcakes so that's pretty much what is on the menu.

I love to watch the commercials and I am kind of looking forward to the halftime show.

I did really well with my shopping for the month of January...placed my first order (of anything) on Friday, the last day of the month. I saw a Belle Gray poncho on clearance and I knew I would cave. I'm hoping that I can carry my resolve over to this month. I already put some items on my wish list, but I'm trying to make a deal with myself that if I lose 5 pds. I will order the items.

It is really foggy here this morning but very mild out, which I like. I am working this morning but we don't have any classes tonight so I am thrilled to be leaving at 11:00. I have tomorrow off and my hubby and I have an appt with the acct. to do our tax return. I went to H&R block, last year and it was pretty much a rip off. I tried doing Turbo tax this year since that is what I have always pretty much used, but the whole college tuition thing really messes me up. I'll be using the acct. that we use here in the church.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!!

Nancy - Have fun this evening with your family. DH and I use an accountant for our taxes, he used to do them himself, but with all our investments, stocks, etc.. I talked him into the accountant. We have never done it ourselves since. Once you go accountant, you never go back.

Re: Shopaholics - ODAT - Sunday

Happy Groundhog Day!!! I am enjoying lazing about the house this morning. I have the TV on and flipping between 2 shows (Say Yes to the Dress, I get tired of them showing the same clips over and over of the same bride saying the same thing, so I switch to Walking Dead Zombie bowl).

Susan, fiddling with my wish list has saved me a lot of $$. I put things on it, take them off, "shop" around with the wish list and then for months forget about it. I remember looking at it every day. Now there are only a few things on my list and I'm not even sure what they are.

Nancy it's good to see you post. I'm planning on doing my taxes today but if we owe we won't be filing today. We'll see. Smiley Happy I'm not rooting for a team either, just needing a full day at home doing my thing.

Marijane I am sure not envious of your weather. We are going to Arlington on Thursday and the high there is 37°. I'm not sure what I'm going to do all day while DH is in some business meetings. I hope the credit card isn't smoking before I pick him up to head home. I wanted to go hiking but not in that cold temp.

Re: Shopaholics - ODAT - Sunday

Good Morning -- thanks for getting us started Susan. I don't really care who wins the game today, but I'll probably watch some of the game at least. The commercials can be entertaining, but if you miss one they usually have it on the internet later. Downton Abbey comes on at 8:00 p.m. here (10:00 p.m. on the East Coast), so I may be able to watch both without a problem. If not, Downton Abbey wins. As predicted, our weather has turned cooler, but certainly nothing like the cold weather many have been having this winter. DD tells me that snow is predicted for her area, which isn't good news.

I am not normally tempted too much by jewelry, but it does happen. I purchased the bronzo Italia (I think that is the name) hoop earrings TSV in December, and they are very nice. Hopefully, that will help me avoid purchasing more hoop earrings for a while. Tucson has a "gem show" which started yesterday (I think), and people come from all over to buy and sell gems/jewelry. We went one year, and it was pretty neat. But, I think it is better to avoid it since looking can and often does lead to buying. Also, February is a pretty busy month for me.

Hi Marijane -- your weather prediction sounds pretty bad. Hope you stay warm and safe.

Nice to see you posting Nancy -- have fun with your family today. Good job on your spending restraint for January. Hope all goes well with the accountant.

I know many people feel the need to go to accountants and tax firms to do their taxes, but I have done them myself for many years. Back in the old days, I purchased a book that helped, but for the last several years it has been Turbo Tax. When my ex and I split, we did need to have our taxes professionally done -- not easy to separate out everything after 35 plus years. My current DH has some investments that take some extra care and mean that we can't file our returns until late March. But, I have learned to deal with the delay. Somehow, financial stuff (not investments) appeal to me. Don't really know why that is, but.... I watch the Suze Orman show almost every week, and I have learned some things from her.

Waves to Susan, Jean, Kathleen, Arlene, Rosa, LindaR, Twinny, Sonya, Karen, ury, Gayle, Kathy, Val, and all of our posters and readers.

Need to get ready for church now. I'm hoping to make it to the gym after services.

Have a good day everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Shopaholics - ODAT - Sunday

Hi girls! It's an icky day here - it was foggy when I left for church and it started to rain a short time after I got home.

I couldn't care less about the football game; some of the commercials are enjoyable (love the puppy one), but I can catch them later on YouTube.

Susan, tax returns are easy to do, and if there are more complicated issues, one does do better to go to an accountant. It sickens me to see what these chain tax places charge for a very simple, basic tax return - they're really raping their customers, who are usually low income. I talked several people into doing their own yesterday; I can't see them paying over $400 for a 1040EZ when they can go to the IRS website and do it through one of several links there for free; the programs walk you right through it. Many opt to do it right away anyway, because they desperately need the $50 fast cash they get. So sad to see how companies take advantage of the poor. {#emotions_dlg.crying}

For those of you who love to iron, I'll have you know I did some ironing yesterday - two pair of corduroy pants. That should do it for the rest of the year. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Well, I'm going to take a short nap and then have to get down to homework. Tomorrow is Social Security day, and thus shopping...

Have a blessed day, everyone.

Re: Shopaholics - ODAT - Sunday

Good afternoon, everyone! It was great to be able to get out yesterday, enjoy some time with friends and eat out. I did go to church today and stopped at the drugstore to pick up more of my meds which were refilled.

Right now, I'm waiting for the next storm. The alert has been changed from "watch" to "warning," and my area is in the target zone. It isn't good when the National Weather Service suggests that we get a ruler to measure snowfall amounts, take a picture of it and then remit it to them.

It was good to work Friday and I was to work Monday but now that we have the storm to arrive, that is highly unlikely at this point. It is getting very, very old. I've never had so many days out of school since I've been subbing.

I bought only essentials last month, and it appears that this month will be another one. I was proud of going into Walmart yesterday to buy grocery supplemental needs and only spent $65, and 15 of that was for Midnight. My Social Security Day is the second Wednesday of the month.

Re: Shopaholics - ODAT - Sunday

PaLady,

The local groundhog "Jimmy" from Sun Prairie, WI saw his shadow today too. Since it has been bitter cold in the Midwest, we expected to get at least 6 more weeks of winter. Yesterday we had 3" of snow and it is very cold but sunny today. They are saying minus temps for most of this next week. Same old story, second verse I guess. I don't care for football, but might watch the ads when they come on. I plan to read a good book while the game is on. My 2nd cousin used to own the Seahawks, but the only fun thing about that was seeing him in person during the games. DH wants CO to win.

Genny1, I never heard of Staten Island chuck before. It is fun to hear about all of the different critters and where they are located at. 40's and fog sounds nice right now. The snow & ice is nasty though. Stay safe.

Kensy2, Have fun with your bro, SIL and baby. Pizza, dip & cupcakes sounds delicious too. Good shop with your shopping habits in January too. The only thing I bought in January was a canister vacuum so DH can get under the beds and do the baseboards etc. better. He is the master of our upright vacuum. I think he gets all of his frustrations out when vacuuming the house!

Rock Chick, Have fun with DH on his business trip. Maybe you can find some fun shopping or a neat eating place. Good luck with your CC too.

LL, jewelry shows don't interest me at all. That Bronzo Italia does look very pretty on TV and my favorite earrings are my hoops. They always look nice and go with anything.

Kona, I am glad you did get out yesterday and were able to eat a nice lunch with friends. Glad you got to go back to school Friday. We got 3" of snow yesterday again and they are saying very cold this next week and more snow between Tuesday night & Weds. morning. Then bitter cold again. Good shopping habits for you too in January. Yesterday my DH went to the local Shriner's pancake breakfast and I met a friend for lunch for my belated birthday. Last week was too cold to leave the house. The last clothing things I bought were last Sept. at the QVC Outlet stores in Frazer and Lancaster.

My only purchase in January was a vacuum cleaner on 01/30/14 for my DH. We did have 3 birthdays in January besides mine, but that was fun buying for others. DH & I are retired, so our clothes don't take a beating anymore and always seem to look nice even though we usually live the casual life.

Waves to anybody I may have missed.

Re: Shopaholics - ODAT - Sunday

I'm thinking I could walk around the mall and for every 2000 steps I get to buy myself something! Smiley Very Happy

Linda those earrings are "you"! Isn't that funny, I feel like I know you by now.

Twinny I can't remember what area you live in. My DH wears his shirts out faster than I can buy them. He gets them all stained up from working outside and whatever else he does.

I am slowly getting some steps in today - yesterday hiking was wonderful with my girlfriend. She was surprised I had never been hiking but I told her never before did I walk "for fun". lol

I am making sausage balls tonight for DH and some manwich. Who knows what else. Lunch was a bust, I made Orange Chicken but had no fried rice or asian veggies so I just reheated some soup.
