Shopaholics ODAT-- Sunday, September 7

Good Morning/Afternoon! I need to get ready for church, but I thought I would start our thread since I could not find it today.

Hope everyone is having a nice day so far. We are expecting rain, but nothing so far. It is a bit cooler than normal.

DH didn't sleep well last night, which means that I didn't sleep well either. I don't think he was too cold or anything (the new blanket helped).

I did have a funny/strange dream, which I am sure came as a result of our thread yesterday. I dreamed that I had a dog and one of those front doors with a mail slot in it. I came home from church, and found that my dog and two squirrels had come in through the mail slot. Pretty funny since I can't imagine a dog that small. And, I haven't had one of those mail slots for a long time. Actually, my dog kept attacking the mail when it came through the slot when I had one, and I put up a mail box instead (so my mail wouldn't be shredded). I don't think my dogs ever brought a creature into the house LindaR, but they certainly did mess with moles, etc. in the yard.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday!

Hugs,

Linda

Hi Linda and everyone!

I had a late night, writing a paper for school, but finished around 3 a.m. I want to re-read it and check for typos and grammatical errors before I submit it, but at least it's done. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

Linda, I was having weird dreams last night as well - in my case it was about my late husband, and I finally confronted him about his abuse. Funny, but I never dream about him; in the dream I challenged him and asked him in front of a bunch of people, "So, how many years have we been married?," and he replied "26;" then I brought up his abusive behavior. When people realized what I'd been putting up with from him - and in the dream I finally left him after all that time - they all gave me gifts of jewelry. I guess it was on my mind because this week it would have been our 26th anniversary, although I very much doubt that I'd have stayed with him much longer had he not died, much less for 26 years - I certainly would hope not! {#emotions_dlg.crying}

I'm going over to a friend's home in a little while; she lives in an apartment complex that has a large pool, so we're going to have a swim then go out to dinner. Nothing much else planned for today - just tying up some loose ends on homework and getting the litter boxes scrubbed out. I need another vacation!

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Linda: what a lovely pic. you posted on FB. Your Army fella certainly stands tall. Your DGD is certainly growing up also.

I never had a mail slot---my mail box is on the road but I can see how that might be an issue. I don't often get gifts---well, when I first adopted Mr. Boodles he brought me gifts about once a week---and his last gift was about a year ago. I am not sure who gifted me yesterday but I am certain it wasn't the Old English. I doubt it was Fred. Might have been Mr. Boodles.

When I got home last evening it was thundering a bit---Mr. Boodles doesn't care for thunder or fireworks. I watched the weather and there was possibility of rain. Woke up to the cracks of thunder in the night---it rained some--but when I went to services some people were saying they had gotten three inches. Prayers for rain are almost always in the prayers of the church--today it was thanksgiving for the rain--and prayers for additional blessings.

Our ladies group has an event at an area restuarant. As I live close I will be in charge of decorating--which is fine but no one told me until after services!.

Wow, slow day here!

I had a great swim at my friend's pool, then we went to Cheddar's. It's always mobbed, but I called it right - I figured that if we went after the church crowd and before the dinner crowd it wouldn't be bad, and sure enough, we were seated right away. Their food is very good, and the prices very reasonable - it doesn't cost much more than fast food, and it's far better. I had an "appetizer" combo, and I brought home enough for a second meal!

I'm procrastinating on litter box duty, but guess I'd better get it done. (sigh) Then some homework, and I can relax for the rest of the evening.

Hope you all have a good night!

Hello friends! Funny dream Linda! I dreamed I was in church and they were playing big band music. lol

I just got home, had a lovely lazy weekend. We are slowly spending more money than we make so it is time to really try to cut back. I took food and cooked and it was all delicious. Took DH out to eat after lunch and ordered a "big bowl" which turns out to be 3 meals for me. So I have 2 lunches or suppers in the fridge. Yay! Food is the hardest thing about being alone.

I stopped at my store and returned the tops that didn't work, kept 3 that are perfect and I am very happy about that. I always order extra to get the good deal and you never know - sometimes they all work out but when they don't I don't feel bad about it.

Spent some time at Mom and Dads and took little DD out to Jasons for a sandwich before I headed home. It was very nice to see them all. My Mom is so encouraging.

Linda I absolutely LOVED that picture. Mama was beaming. Smiley Happy

My first dog brought a dead squirrel in one night. This was back when I would get up in the night and get on the computer. I let him out and back in in the dark. Smelled something awful - would have made a great home movie to see me trying to flip it out the door with a dustpan and that poor dog didn't know what I was squealing for. ha ha

Good evening! It is evening here but morning for many of you. I have been very busy. Today, we hiked the volcano. This is the first opportunity I have had to check in. Hope all is well. No tv since last Tuesday and this is one of the few times in evening that I have had time?

Hi Jean -- thanks for checking in. We have missed you -- the thread has been very slow since you have been away. Hope you enjoyed your hike. I saw something on the news about a volcano on the big island erupting, and I certainly hoped that did not affect you. I think I could do without TV, but I certainly have trouble when I don't have access to the internet (which sometimes happens on a trip). Perhaps you have been so busy that has not been an issue.
