Where is everyone? I was listening to a radio program before I got out of bed and the host was saying that with a holiday weekend every day this week would seem "off" - he sure got that right - I can't believe it's Wednesday already!
Time sure is flying by.
I did get to the bank yesterday; I also had a Mr. Rebates check to cash, so that covered lunch and a bit left over. Went to Western Sizzin and had the buffet this time, along with a nice visit with my waitress friend who works there. The girls were very happy - she let me take a lot of stuff for them.
On the way home we drove through a brief rainstorm, but it was one of those "passing under a cloud" things and it was over as quickly as it started.
My trash wasn't picked up this week. I put it out yesterday because of the holiday on Monday, and have since learned that - except for Thanksgiving and Christmas - trash will now be picked up on holidays. Nice of them to give us advance notice - now I have a full bin which includes the cat "deposits!"
I don't want it near the house as it smells - the bin will have to stay out by the street, which means I can't toss bits and pieces into it. (sigh)
I'm also about to call the PO; the local one is absolutely horrible, which is why I don't deal with them if I can help it and pay for a PO Box in the next town. I ordered some books for school from Amazon, and I never know when they'll use that stupid SmartPost instead of UPS or FedEx, which means the items come to the house via mail. I contacted Amazon and they said the computer determines what shipping method will be used, so there's no way of telling ahead of time so I can choose to have it sent to the PO Box. Anyway, two books are missing and I see there was an "attempted delivery" on 5/12. Really? There's nothing in my mailbox!
So...I have to call and complain; I'm not the only one who hates the local post office - I wish they'd close it down and have the mail go through the one where my box is - it's excellent. (At least the desk clerks are....)
I'm hurting today - that's partly why I feel grumpy!
Guess I'll make my call, then check out some pool places and get quotes on getting the pool open - so far it looks like we're going to have a summer this year, unlike last year. ![]()
Have a blessed day, everyone!

It has been overcast and muggy here today. Not much going on. I went to the library and checked out some books. Mainly doing things around the house etc. I hope everyone has a great day!

Wow, slowest day on the thread ever!
I'm waiting for a pool guy to come and give me a quote on opening the pool; after that I'll take the girls to the stream for a swim. I did put away some summer tops I've worn, got some "new" ones out, some things set aside for the thrift shop...
Hope everyone is OK!

After a shower last night---the rain for now has stopped. But is is muggy---or as my mom would say ""sultry"".
I needed to go to the grocery---attempted to find a parking spot---but they have things so torn up and confusing due to the construction I left there and went over to Wally's. I only needed a few items and none of them were unique. Oh my---I am thinking I won't be a customer there again for a while.
I had gone to the bank---I was taking care of my business and the lady at the next station was conducting her business. I had always noticed that the bank had some little red wagons marked with the banks information under the tables. She was directed to the wagons and she loaded up boxes of coins. She went out and unloaded them. So know I know---if I have so much I can't carry I can use a red wagon!.

FHG, I couldn't get into the forums this afternoon or the blogs. The Q must be doing something as I did see a very brief message about pin #'s. I washed every window in the house including the ones in the basement today. I wanted some fun with you gals, but no luck until we came home from dinner. I did go to the local jewelry store to get an estimate on my ring. Then we went to a nearby town where the ring came from another estimate. Now I have to wait for the insurance adjuster to call me to tell me what her estimate is. I asked the jeweler about going about business this way & he said it was common practice. I have never had a jewelry claim before, so I didn't know the ropes. We had a nice dinner in the same town. I had the whole catfish & DH had the ham steak. We were the only two in the restaurant. It used to always be busy but not anymore.
Gail, it was muggy here yesterday. Today it is lovely as it is only in the 70's & it will be in the 50's tonight again. I did weaken & put the a/c on for an hour last night mainly to get the humidity out of the house.
Linda R, we had severe thunderstorms last night & got over an inch of rain in about an hour. The TV kept going off but thankfully no power outages. That is a funny bank story. I have never had so much $$$ that I needed a wagon to get me to the car. Talking about finding a parking spot. My DH & I went to Madison to Kohl's a couple of months ago. Usually we always can get a handicapped parking space for me, but they were doing a horrible remodeling job. DH ended up letting me off at the door & walking from across the street. Won't go back until the remodeling job is completed. For some reason, they had 1/2 the parking spaces covered up?
Yes this week is going by too fast. I have lots of things to do before our company comes on Saturday. I did tell DH that he might have to get up earlier tomorrow to help me out.
Hugs to all of you out there.

LOL: I also have not done such a large transaction I needed a wagon to carry it out!!!
A poorly designed parking lot can really affect business.
Catfish---very popular in the south---I didn't realize it was popular up north as well. The restaurant business is a very tough one. I was reading an article in the paper about liquor sales. I was surprised to see a chain restaurant in my town very high on the list. It isn't that large volume wise---although I think the last time I was there was when Kathleen and Stevie were passing through and we all met there---so that was a few years ago. Parking lot is always busy.
I watched the news--there was a three year old who drowned in a creek yesterday---so very sad. Then I saw a report of a horse that was rescued from a creek. It took them two hours to rescue him but he appeared to be doing well.

Arlene--Thank you for starting the thread. I had tried several times to get into this thread and others after I came home from work but with no luck. I thought I would check one more time before going to bed.
We have had storms and there are flood warnings for some areas near me.
My big activity tonight was downloading my new maps to my Garmin which has the free lifetime updates.
