Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday

Hi girls! It's bright and sunny, but chilly - just in the high 30s - but I'll take that over Susan's temps any day! {#emotions_dlg.scared} Rain is forecast for the next few days, so I'm taking the dogs for a ride to the bank with me (about 15 miles) since they haven't had an outing in over a week, then I'll bring them home and head out to Aldi and will eat out - I don't trust them in the car, as Angelica has been chewing on my shoulder belt and I don't want to have to hurry with my food.

The snow is pretty much gone except for large patches on grassy areas; I checked my back porch steps and they're a bit icy; I hope that melts soon. The rain will probably wash it away, but until then I'm being very careful - my butt still hurts from yesterday's fall. {#emotions_dlg.crying}

Sorry to hear about DH's aunt, Susan.

LindaL, I've gotten some really cute things in Walmart over the years, and find that they really last; I don't think I've ever worn anything out but gave things away because I got tired of them. Their PJs are really good quality; I'm happier with them than I am with "better" brands.

I'd better get moving if I'm to get to the bank before it closes - I'll check in later.

Hi Everyone!

Susan. Thanks for starting the thread. So sorry for the loss of DH's aunt. We have good size piles of snow from having been plowed, but I'm not sure how much is on the ground.

I posted later in the day yesterday about my terrific shopping day yesterday. It was a trip I've waited awhile for, and just to look at things for myself. My birthday is coming up soon, and a few things were gifts to myself, as it's a big birthday. The purchase of the day was a beautiful, soft rose colored Coach handbag. I've never owned the brand, and didn't realize it was at first as the name plate is very discreet. That appealed to me, as I'd like to have the bag stand on it's own, not just a name. Love it!!!!!

Kathleen, It must be neat to see snow where you so rarely get any. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Linda, Glad you will get your treatment done soon. Have fun going through your wardrobe, and good luck with the top.

Twinny, Have a nice lunch out with DH. I hope your mom is getting on ok with her vision as limited as it is. Hoping the injection will help a lot.

I got lots done here this morning, and just finished an early lunch. After taking a rest, I'll be heading to town to the resale shop, as well as fill DH's car with gas for him. Have a good day everyone! pinky

What is the price of gasoline? Two weeks ago it was $1.91 & now it is $2.29. I guess that the fun is over.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday

Happy Birthday in advance pinky ann. When is the big day? Both DD and DH have birthdays in March. He is almost exactly thirty years her senior. I am glad you had such a good shopping experience yesterday.

I did make it to Wal-Mart and bought "my" top. My biggest problem was not buying two at that price ($5). LOL

Our gasoline is up considerably as well twinny -- I think it is about what yours is, maybe slightly less. I read in the paper that one of the reasons our gasoline is less expensive than other areas is the lower taxes charged. That is okay with me, but unfortunately, they also skimp on road repairs.

Ours is going up too, $2.15 the other day. I'm so lucky I don't have to buy gas very often any more. I can make it 2 weeks on a full tank up here!

LL, Our gas tax is quite high, but we do have pretty good roads. Yesterday on the radio, they said that the IA gas tax was going up 10¢ but their last gas tax increase was 40 years ago. When we filled the tank last month in IA, it was $1.75 a gallon. I hate to fill the tank, but it only gets done about once a month. When we were both working we used less gas as we either walked to work or took our mopeds.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday

Twinny, I saw gas priced in town at 2.45 the other day. I didn't get out as planned today so don't know if it's still that price. It beats the 3.60 or so that it was not too long ago.

Linda, Glad you got your shirt. For 5.00, if you get a season or two from it you're still ahead. I've been surprised my some clothes at Walmart lasting a very long time, so you never know.

Kathleen, Hope you love the dresses. Are they all from Dress Barn in this order? I was in one years ago, and it was such a nice store. We recently had one open near Target, about 45 minutes from us. Is their sizing fairly consistent? I always prefer to try clothes on with my shape, but if something is only available on line, I'd love to know how things fit. pinky

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday

Ann, they are all from Dress Barn. I've bought dresses from them a couple of times and been happy with what I got. The problem is that the dresses online may or may not be in the store. I was going to go shop tonight or tomorrrow but will not be venturing out in this snow. The other thing is sometimes they say "lined" online but are not. I really like my dresses lined. So we will see. I will see if I can cut and paste my dresses.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday

Came home to no water - we didn't drip the faucet and it froze. Brrrr! Stevie and I got an outside adventure but we got 'er done and I'm cooking up some onions potatoes and sausage for supper. I desperately need to do some clothes but Shark Tank just came on. I'm not sure if I will venture to the laundry tonight or not. Weather is supposed to be even worse tomorrow.
