I buy apples and pumpkins at Trader Joe's.  Never did go picking either.  Not even in my childhood, that I can recall.

BUT, saying that phrase --certainly paints a picture in your mind, and truly captures your attention!  And isn't that what effective advertising is supposed to do?

Yes, @FancyPhillyshopper that is exactly why they do it.  They want to create an image in in your mind.

The OP has great point about the laughing.  When a lost stifles a laugh during a presentation I notice it. There are certain involuntary responses we can't control. That laugh tells me a lot. Especially when it doesn't fit the dialog.

Josie Marin did this during a presentation of that golden reserve oil. My thought she doesn't even believe what she is saying.

Jane and Courtney do it a lot too. It makes them come across as disingenuous.

Just heard the host memtion "you could go Apple picking in this" it's a simple Denim & Co tee. It's so ridiculous I can't watch. I guess they think that's what people do on a regular basis or like, NEVER! But that's what's going to make me buy those tee shirts. No wonder they are constantly laughing, even they can't keep a straight face saying this stuff.

Oh SO what!!!

It is just sales chatter....

We apple pick every Fall....now I know what I can wear.  LOL

When my kids were in nursery school we went apple picking and to the pumpkin patch on hayrides.  Here in a lot of Bucks Co it's still somewhat rural and really beautiful with lots of places to go picking.

However it's been years....decades since then.  My DD is expecting our first gradchild so maybe we'll be invited along to do some picking in a few years. Smiley Happy

We've been apple picking. Our friends from NYC would come up with their kids and we would hit the apple orchards upstate. Kids loved it.

I know they use it as a sales pitch, but real life apple picking (or pumpkin picking) is hard, sweaty and dirty work.  I would never wear something nice (or too hot) to do that kind of work.

To mix things up, they should include bean-picking, pea or corn shucking or tomato canning during the summer.  This SG top would be perfect for canning tomatoes, because if you get any tomato stains on it, just run it under the tap and they will come right out.  LOL.

They do need to come up with more modern day sales pitches, I think.

Actually, at many places it's not necessarily sweaty or dirty. The pumpkins are "pre-picked" and the idea is more to pick one out and partake of all of the associated activities with small kids. Even apple picking places sell apple products (cider, donuts pies, etc.) and pre-picked apples for those who are just enjoying a nice fall outing. I don't think it's so silly to consider that one might wear a t-shirt—maybe even one in a fall color—for such an occasion.

I just don't get what the big deal is—fine, it's a sales pitch. They're selling things. People do go to such places. If you don't, ignore them. (A general comment, not aimed at the poster to whom I responded.)

@cosmic1 Just had to say, your post gave me a good chuckle. Especially the part about canning tomatoes in a Susan Graver top 😂. How many times have we heard her talk about rushing over to a sink and spot cleaning her liquid knit after getting spaghetti sauce on it? Yep, tomato canning will be perfect.

@manny2

IMHO, WHY waste your breath complaining about such TRIVIAL things!

There are so many other threads that are interesting and don't involve complaining!

If you guys are gonna start threads about every single thing said you deem as 'dumb', these boards will become just a giant *****fest.

If that is the kind of discussions you like....complaining....then fine.

I will try to skip them from now on.
