Seriously Oldies but Still Goodies

Been spending the last hour going through clothes and trying them on in an effort to lighten my load. I came across two BEAUTIFUL sweaters with some GORGEOUS beading and sequins on them. Nothing over the top just very tastefully done. How I forgot I had these 2 two beauties I have no clue. Now to my point.....they came from QVC a hundred years ago (well maybe not quite) and the brand is Victor Costa. Wonder if anyone remembers his line from QVC. It had to be quite a few years ago. Can't recall if he did just sweaters or entire wardrobes of things. So glad I found them, now if I only had somewhere to wear them. They are 3/4 sleeve pullover sweaters, nice, light weight & soft as a baby's behind. 55%cotten 45% acrylic. One that is a soft turquise green altho it has a matching sequined patten on part of the front could really be worn casually w/white crops or slacks. The other which is a tan with a much less subtle stone & sequin pattern is for a more dressy pant or skirt. Anyway, just so excited to have found two forgotten QVC treasures that I can still fit into and use.

I remember him and have a few of his items.  Two nice jackets and a two-piece velour set --pants & jacket which I have yet to wear since no one dresses up anymore and I don't go to "nice" places.    I liked his presentations and his line of clothing and sorry to see him gone from QVC.

I am excited for you !  I used to love the Victor Costa Occassion shows - I think many of the shows were hosted by Mary Beth ?   Beautiful, elegent pieces.

Re: Seriously Oldies but Still Goodies

I have a gorgeous Victor Costa black twin set. The cardi has sequined lace sleeves. Superior quality knit. Better even than anything Linea that I own. I still wear the set for special occasions

Thank you @shaggygirl for reminding me about VC. This set would go perfectly with the IMLblack lace pants I bought earlier this year.

I just looked at the labels again and indeed they say Victor Costa Occasion! Well then we ladies who still own some of his items just have the proof that good quality lasts a very long time. I also found a Bob Mackie sweater that has to be at least 10 years old and still looks good but that one is going in the donation pile, someone will enjoy it for a festive occasion as that one has a sequin pattern as well.....I must have been heavily into beads and sequins at one tiime......or had more places to go and things to do years ago than nowadays.

Here in a Dallas, we have a store called Terry Costa.

She is the ex-wife of Victor...and this store is filled with

beautiful cocktail dresses, prom, pageant dresses &

evening wear for 'reasonable' prices.  So if you're ever in

Dallas & in need of something sparkly, check it out.

"Now if I only had somewhere to wear them"

I don't know VC but your post reminded me of a story I would like to share.

My grandmother was frugal but on occasion she would buy something snazzy usually a dress.  I always wondered where she would wear them because she didn't go to a lot of parties. I got my answer one day when I saw her walking to the supermarket in her snazzy dress. So put on your VC sweater and go to the supermarket. Woman Happy

Re: Seriously Oldies but Still Goodies

I had a couple of VC Occasion pieces ... I think there is just one jacket left in the closet.  I donated a bunch of dressier things when I retired.

There used to be some interesting designers on QVC ... to bad they're gone.

K-dash cardigan.jpgI never saw Victor Costa here nor on ShopNBC so it must have been quite some time ago. I still checked to see if there was anything left in inventory; nothing for VC but I found a few pieces from another now defunct Q line and if you can get past whose it is it's a pretty piece: Was 90 now 20! But you must be a size large.
