@Enufstuff Yep, the powers to be like Americans to be dumbed down. We can be better controlled that way.
Schools teach kids how to think, not to be free thinkers.
I am not sure where society is headed, but we have big problems.

And here we go with the bashing of today's young people by the same generation of people who don't know how to program a phone, install a modem, access a remote learning platform, create a slide presentation or spreadsheet, analyze propoganda, and have the emotional intelligence of a bag of rocks. As a teacher, I work with smart, ambitious, compassionate, critical thinkers who keep me feeling young and energetic and inspire me to be a lifelong learner.
On another note, the 70's are my favorite decade for fashion. Love this pic!

It is sad to see, along with schools no longer teaching students how to read a clock, how to read and write cursive, people being obsessed with social media and losing communication skills, less interest in reading an actual book, losing the ability to spell, use proper grammar and actually construct a sentence, people in public behaving badly, aggressively and violently.
I believe that it is all part of the dumbing down of America.
Have you ever read some of the posts shared on this board? Speaking of grammar.. 🙄 What fascinates me is that one claims to be a teacher. How can we expect our children to learn when their teacher is not teaching @Enufstuff ?

@Love to Run You sound like a wonderful teacher. We need more like you and more schools that allow teachers to help develop young minds into their full potential to think on their own and not be spoon fed everything.
Some students are criticized for asking questions or not being in agreement.
Thank you for your service to our young folks.
My youngest sister is a special ed teacher. I admire the work good teachers do.

@Enufstuff They haven't taught cursive in years. As another poster said grammar that in not proper is on these boards all the time. By the older posters no less.

Teaches are not free to teach at will. They must follow the Curriculum approve by the school district.
Yeah, I have seen some bad grammar, bad spelling and bad handwriting from teachers.
Today, a math teacher only teaches math, a music teacher only music. You really don't need wonderful grammar to teach those subjects.
When I went to school, we had one teacher who taught everything. Heck, we had two grades in one classroom and the teacher taught two grades at the same time.
If a word was misspelled, or the grammar was incorrect, we had to redo the work. Times were tougher, and more was expected of us. Kids were held back.
I not sure what happened, but I know it was my/our generation that changed things for the not so better.
