These days when a word is preceded by a # it is a reference to a Twitter account or a following on Twitter. I don't know what OP is specifically referring to but if, for example, it was #gili and you clicked it! it would be all the comments about #gili. Hashtag# is a Twitter thing.

You are not alone! I am on Facebook but I don't really participate, my daughter set it up for me and I rarely go on. I've never done Twitter and never will. I kinda knew that the hashtag # thing was related to twitter but I wasn't sure. So, I'm glad you asked. I'm really good at faking that I know about that social media stuff.....and that I care....LOL

I tried to "join" toGather, but it asked me to log in with either Facebook or my QVC information--but it wouldn't accept my QVC sign in. I'm NOT going to join Facebook to enter a contest--I have too many privacy concerns. So I guess I can't enter. Oh well, not a big deal.

Yup. So true. I am on facebook by I won't enter any contests from there. The contest should be available to anyone (even those not on facebook), so this is really just a way to get you on their facebook.

I'm not interested in the bag but I also do not belong to any social networking sites so this kind of thing is not something I can enter anyway.

You can create a Facebook account (or Twitter, Instagram, etc) and use it only for contests. You never have to post anything else or enter more personal information. I've had an Instagram account for 2 years and have never posted a single picture. I started the account for a blog giveaway. Just make sure you create a user name and password you can easily remember if you only intend to use it once or twice a year.
