Good morning all and Happy day before JULY 4th! Hope everyone is doing ok today.
Still raining here, won't be spending much time outdoors today so, I am going to do some cooking. laundry, and may even drag out the carpet shampoo-er for some high traffic areas. In other words, just another super exciting day, ROFL.
What is everyone one else up to??

Snicks--Thank you for starting the thread. Enjoy your "exciting" day. Truth is that more people are likely spending a quiet holiday at home than we think.
I was up at 6am, so this will be a long day. Holidays are just another day for me. I don't have any unrealistic expectations for them so I don't get bummed out about them. A friend did just invite me to a family cookout which is expected to have around 30 people involved. Had she contacted me yesterday, I might have considered it but the reality is that I like a quiet get together and these are somewhat noted for the family members ending up being upset with some, etc.
I spent part of the morning going through old files and destroying things I feel I no longer need. I need to make the best use of the time I have. June passed quickly and I'm sure this month will also, which means August brings school and paid work again. I just need to keep on top of the clutter issue once work begins, so that it doesn't accumulate again.
Back to the sorting and a DVD to entertain me as I do it.

I'm not saying that I have a tendency to keep paperwork but I just found a folder buried in the back of a filing cabinet that had papers dated back to 1999. They no longer exist.
I've done enough of that for a period of time. Now, to fix lunch followed by Kindle time to finish a novel.

Good Morning/Afternoon, and thanks for getting us started Snicks. Sorry no outdoor activities for you, but I hope you accomplish the needed indoor jobs and still have a little time to relax. It is sunny and warm here -- expecting the same weather for the next several days.
Hi Jean -- you are ambitious with your sorting. I didn't manage to do any of that yesterday, but hope to do some today. I did go to the thrift shop yesterday to drop off my latest set of donations. That made me feel good. Those tidying links/pictures yesterday were interesting. I will never be either extreme, but hoping to do better than in the past with de-cluttering.
The new medicine did not work at all -- what a disappointment. DH was up -- tossing and turning all night, and neither of us got much sleep. Not sure if I will try the new medicine again tonight, but we will see.
Sorry about all your dietary restrictions, twinny. Like Bernie, I would find it very difficult to do without dairy, etc. But, I know you need to deal with the punches as they say, and you certainly are an expert in that department.
Waves to Kathleen, Arlene, Bernie, Marijane, Essie. Charlene, Rosa, Susan, meallen, butterfly, Barbara, Gayle, pinky ann, Karen, LindaR, and all of our posters and readers.
I found the security app that I downloaded to my phone used a huge amount of data, and I have very little under my cell phone plan. I panicked, but I think that things will be okay -- this month's bill will be much higher than normal, but next month should be back to the normal rate. I took off that app, so it should not be a problem. I just did not understand that this would happen, but I'll be much more careful before I add new apps in the future. Yikes!
Looking forward to going to church and the gym today. Ironing will be done this afternoon -- I know some of you don't iron or want to do so, but I don't really mind.
Have a good day everyone!
Hugs,
Linda

Good Morning all, I'm taking a short break before I head back outside. I was up early too and had some coffee while watching a couple of my oldie goldie tv shows. Around 10 am I took my old school small boombox (rofl) on the front porch, plugged it into the outside outlet, popped in a CD and listened to some music (not loud enough to bother the neighbors) while hand trimming the shrubs and leafy bu*hes in the front of the house.
Sure, I coulda got it down faster with my hedge trimmer but it wouldn't have been as 'organic' and relaxing. I cut the front grass - honestly I just evened out the front grass. It didn't grow much, some areas had more 'whiskers' than the others.
The backyard grew a little more so I will cut the grass and then get the privacy fence slatting that I bought months ago installed. I need to wrap up my head as the last time I was in the area to clear foilage for this project, the pine trees sapped in my hair, lol. I also need to find a ratty tee shirt that I can throw out when the work is done.
It's been my experience, there is no getting tree sap out of a t-shirt.
I'll have the boombox out back right by me and this will make the work enjoyable. I won't be whistling while I work, I'll probably be singing.

SNICK's, Rain, rain GO AWAY! It sounds like a good day for housework.
Jean, I like small togethers too. My cousin luncheon on Wednesday was fun as there were 15 of us. I try to shred ad I go. I can't believe that July is here already. Yes. School pay day will soon be here for you.
LINDAL, So sorry that the new meds didn't work. Maybe it takes a few days to "kick in.". I know nothing about apps. I am rolling with some new punches for sure, but this will pass too.
DH & I did go to church & potluck. I made a fruit salad & a hot dish that I could eat. So far so good.
Another beautiful 70's day, but 90's by midweek. It will be hot tub tme later this afternoon.
Tomorrow we plan to go to that little country church 11 miles away. Eating will be tricky but the music will be worth it.
We got an invite in the mail yesterday for a Night on the Town in August. It was from a 2nd cousin that lives in CA & I haven't seen him since 2004 when he had a book signing at our local library. No its not at his place (darn), but a very nice !ansion/ dinner place in our hometown. Now I need to RSVP.
Somebody made some very good homemade bread with slices of turkey. I cut off the butter & removed a slice of cheese.
I know, my life is so exciting.
Hugs to all of you.

Hi girls! It's another hot, sunny day out; I'll be headed to the pool in a little while - I want to finish a novel from "The Cat Who..." series before I finish up a little bit of homework. I have no plans to go anywhere; maybe I'll take the dogs for a ride tomorrow - I do need to get more bird food from Tractor Supply.
Well, I said absolutely, positively no more animals, but it looks like God had other ideas! There's a tuxedo kitten - a few months old - who's been coming around every day and has been joining the other outside kitties at mealtimes. I don't know if someone dumped it here, or if it just knew where someone with a soft heart lives, but - (s)he is ohana (family) now! I don't know if it's a boy or a girl, so I call it Sam - Uncle Sam if it turns out to be a boy, and Samantha for a girl. It's very skittish, but hopefully I can capture it and have it spayed or neutered.
Yesterday I plugged in the vacuum cleaner, which is less than a year old, and which worked fine the last time I used it. Well, it's as dead as a doornail. I tried different outlets, and...nothing. I'm so sick and tired of this - people scream "SAVE THE PLANET!!!" Yeah, well...how about they stop making garbage that doesn't last and has to be replaced frequently, thus using up resources and clogging landfills? Things used to last and last and last...not anymore! Obviously, it's not something I can do without, especially with all the cat fur, but before I get a new one I'm going to call the company on Tuesday and see what they have to say.
Jean, like you, I prefer small get-togethers, especially if it's a crowd where I know very few people. I've learned to not have any expectations for holidays as well; I'm trying to resign myself to the fact that I'll never have a family.
Sorry you had another bad night, LindaL. I continue to pray for you.
I was just thinking, as soon as this semester is over (Friday!!!) I could go for a rainy day that I could spend in bed with my coloring, a good mystery, my big tablet to watch Netflix on...
Twinny, are you lactose intolerant? I am - it started around menopause, but does seem to be easing. I do use lactose free milk still, rather than take chances, and aged cheeses are fine - they don't have lactose in them. If you look at the label it should tell you what percentage it has.
Guess I'll listen to one of my weekly prophecy updates, then head outside.
Hi to everyone - have a blessed day!

FHG, I don't know if I am have lactose intolerance. This is day 2 without stomach cramps yet. I have always had a little trouble eating certain foods since my gallbladder/ appendix were removed about 35 years ago, but it has always been shirt lived.
I feel hungry all the time.

Hello friends. When my vacuum stopped like that, we discovered a fuse in it that had burned up. Might be worth checking - or not. I'm having a mellow weekend. My childhood friend lost her Father to cancer yesterday. I haven't seen him in years, seen her once in about 35 years - don't keep up with them - so I'm not devastated. But it's very sobering. He is the same age as my Dad. I just feel sad for her and her family.
I made some good food, a berry pie and some pasta salad, did the laundry and about to pack up DD's birthday boxes. She says they won't get mail in Viet Nam so no telling how long they will be in transit. But I have to send something.
I'm going to pack up the truck tonight so we can leave early and beat the parades and the traffic and be in the pool this time tomorrow. Hugs to all!

Linda--I am sorry that the new med did not work for DH. I would not give up as sometimes, it takes time for the med to buildup in the bloodstream and take effect. Apparently, the app was not all that beneficial so it is good that you deleted it.
Twinny--I developed a problem with dairy products when I hit middle age. If I eat more than a very small amount, I will be running to the throne. The less fat in the dairy product the better it can be handled. If I want something like ice cream, etc. I take lactaid with it. Enjoy your outing tomorrow for the music.
Arlene--That is a bummer about the vacuum, but Kathleen's suggestion about the possibility of a problem fuse might be considered. Calling the company for suggestions is a good ideea.
Bernie--Doing the lawn and shrubbery to music is a great idea. I know you will be relieved when the privacy fence is installed with no tree sap in hair or on clothes. Doing outside work can be stress relieving it you have the right tools.
Kathleen--I'm sure that DD will enjoy the birthday boxes when she receives them. Making calls must be a challenge also with the difference in time zones, etc. Beating the holiday traffic is a good idea.
I finished the novel on the Kindle, and am watching Grey's Anatomy now. Veggie lasagna and salad is on the menu for dinner. That is my exciting life for today. Up to 5 inches of rain is in the forecast for the next 24 hours.
