Good morning, shopping friends. I could have worked today as I was called at 5am to sub for someone absent at the last minute. It took me just a few seconds to pass on that golden opportunity. I was tired from previoius activities, pain and lack of sleep.
I think the SG crops shown as part of the QVC2 promotion are cute but I have put a halt to buying clothes right now. I have yet to look at QVC2. I agree with Linda that the last time I was in the very large WalMart in the city that they had some cute clothes at a reasonable price but I just keep on walking after a quick look.
I'm glad that Linda had a good visit with the family in Maryland and is now safely back in Arizona. I'm sure that her DH is happy to have her back.
I got a chuckle out of the thread about the pic versus image in full length mirror. We can only do our best and then blame it on either the mirror or the camera or both.
I'm tired since I've been busy and then being awakened at 5am with no return to sleep. I think this will be a day of rest as I work the next two days. Surely the plants will permit that. I'm beginning to regret getting them.
Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Good morning! Jean - Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Hope you catch up on rest and feel better soon. So far this year I have spent a bit more on "luxury" items than last year, but have spent quite a bit less on clothes. Meallen - thanks for the pretty flowers!
Speaking of FASHION - I also read part of the thread on how different we can look in photos compared to mirrors, etc. I usually get a shock when I see my reflection in a big glass window. Usually I look heavier and my hair looks grayer. In fact, my hair always looks grayer outside in sunlight than inside. I just did an experiment concerning what I'm going to wear to my DD's graduation at the end of this month. I really want to wear pants with a dressy top rather than a dress or skirt. So I pulled the top contenders out of the closet, put them on, and had my DH take a photo of me standing outside in each outfit. (I was fast about it and he was tolerant, lol). The outcome was kind-of unexpected. A couple of the dark blue print tops photographed much lighter than they look in person. The black print tops photographed true-to-color. I'm not sure why the blues looked so much different in the sunlight and the blacks didn't. I was going for a more dark monochromatic look, but they didn't photograph that way. Interesting experiment.
And speaking of CARS - after a long, exhausting day yesterday, I am now the owner of a 2017 Camry. It's a really pretty dark pearlized blue color. The only thing that I didn't really want was the sun roof, but I didn't like the few that didn't have sun roofs. Oh well. Sitting in that thing feels a little bit like sitting in a plane with all the new technology. I have no idea how long it's going to take me to learn how to use it, and I'm not kidding. I've also realized that I'm going to have to upgrade my cell phone to keep up with my car's bluetooth technology. Geesh.
I need to make a quick trip to the grocery store today, other than that, I'm hoping for a quiet day. Too much stress lately. Even if it's good stress, it's still stress.
May you all have a blessed day! ~ Charlene

Good Morning/Afternoon, and thanks for getting us started, Jean. Sorry you are not feeling that great, and I hope the "day of rest" helps you. I know that you really enjoy teaching, but you need to take care of yourself. Good that you are doing so.
Nice graphic, meallen.
Congratulations on the new car, Charlene. I'm sure that there will be many new features for you to learn. A friend of mine purchased a new car a few months ago, and she said it came with a huge book full of information. She had not had a chance to read about all the new features when she gave me a ride. I am fond of blue cars, and not crazy about sun roofs. Like you, I purchased one of my cars with a sun roof since I liked it better than others that were offered. Interesting experiment with your clothing choices for the graduation. I have never done that sort of research, but maybe should try it.
I had my lab work done this morning, and I have to say the lady who drew my blood was excellent. My physical is next week, and they are moving the office over the weekend, so I'll be headed next door. I was surprised at the move, but it certainly is not any distance.
It is quite cool again today, but it should reach the 70's rather than the 60's yesterday. DH's DD is coming for a brief visit this Friday when it should be in the 90's. She said she will be bringing shorts.
I finally finished my financial review yesterday evening, and ironing is on tap for later. I'll also be visiting DH and doing some more walking.
Waves to all of our posters and readers. Have a nice day everyone!
Hugs,
Linda
P.S. They had some leftover very ripe bananas at the senior lunch program, and I made banana bread for DH's facility yesterday evening. One of the caregivers really likes banana bread.

meallen--Thank you for your usually great choice of a graphic.
Charlene--Enjoy the new car. Yes, compared to older cars, the new ones take time to learn all the ins and outs but once introduced and used, you will not regret your purchase.
Linda--It is good that your blood work is finished. Hopefully, the results are good. I am sure that the banana bread will be greatly appreciated when you visit.
I had a snack for lunch and see that Tova is now presenting some jewelry. I really feel bad so I'm heading back to the bed.

Jean, I sm sorry that you aren't feeling well & couldn't sub today. I haven't seen QVC2 either.
Meallen, cute graphic.
Linda L, I hope that your lab work & check up next week have good results. I have my next infusion next Thursday & will get my labs done at the same time. My 6 month checkup is the following Tuesday & it will save me from getting poked twice. I am sure that your DH was happy to see you. It is nice that his DD is coming soon.
CERB, I hope that you enjoy your new car. Our 2015 Subaru has a sun roof. We love it & say that we have the grandpa & grsabdma convertible. It is going for an oil change tomorrow.
We got back home yesterday afternoon & it was a chilly 59° in the house. On went the heat. Our vacation was very nice. Gas prices in KY on Sunday were $1.78. At home they are $2.29.
It is a little bit rainy this afternoon. They say upper 60's tomorrow & 70's by Saturday.
I have lots of laundry to do because I didn't do any on vacation. I also found the long pants that went missing. They were tucked under our memory foam mattress.
We went to see our favorite polka band & had lunch there. It is a nice salad for dinner tonight.
We will be in the Capitol city tomorrow getting an oil change. We put on 2,245 miles in 2 weeks.
Can't believe that May is here already. I don't plant anything before Memorial Day, just in case we get a late frost.
My DH mowed lawn yesterday as soon as he picked up the push mower that was in the fix it shop. He said it works like a new one. We had 1 1/2" of rain in the gauge.
Hugs to all of you.

Hello all, sorry that you are under the weather Jean.
Hi Meallen.
Twinny, Welcome Home.
Linda L - glad you enjoyed your vacation with family.
Charlene - congrats on the new car.
I got a call yesterday, while at was at work, that middle sister's car broke down on her way home from work. Rush hour traffic out of downtown Detroit is no joke. I called for a tow and headed out to make sure she was okay.
We were lucky, her left axle broke while she was at a stop light. We got the car to the dealer, then drove back to my house to drop me off so she could use my car. It was a long day, lol.
Drove the old Camaro to work today - everytime I think about selling that car, something jumps off that makes me appreciate having a spare in the garage.
I'm sure I'll sleep like the dead again tonight.

Bird Mama, I am glad that you were able to help you sister when her car broke down. Things could have been much worse. A spare car is nice in a situation like that. We only have 1 vehicle & 2 mopeds, thus, why we trade every 5 years. Being retired helps too. It is nice to be back home, but we do love to travel.

@twinny70 The mechanic said my sister had a guardian angel watching over here. Had she been on the freeway going 70 mph when that axle broke, she would have lost control of the car and God knows what would have happened.
I told her, have the mechanic check the right axle. You are not bringing that car off the lot from the dealer until I know you have a new right and left axle.

Bernie - your sister's near accident sounds scary. I'm so glad that she's okay and that you were able to help her. We also like to have a spare car "just-in-case". Hope you get caught up on your rest!
