SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 15)

[ Edited ]

Good morning, shopping friends. Temptations today? The all day kitchen show isn't appealing to me, and I did check out Amazon but anything I mgiht have purchased if it were a special was not a special today. I can wait!

We had storms again last night and it is dreary outside. We are fortunate that the worst of it passed my location. So many people did not have flood insurance as the area had not had a flood in over 50 years but some watched their homes washed off the foundation, etc. We who are more foertunate are most thankful.

The Summer of what pretends to be Summer is passing quickly. With all the procedures, recovery, etc., the time has passed quckly since school was out on June 17. Soon the second week of August will be here with the students returning to school. Time passes too quiickly and with it, I haven't accomplished much except not buying much and this week hopefully will keep the non-buying streak going. The bills will be paid and the essentails bought, etc. but that is it.

I just saw this on Facebook: "Everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made.  If you want a different result, make a different choice." Each day we have choices; think and make the best choice for you.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 15)

Good morning KK, and all who follow.

I agree with the all day anything days on QVC, not interested in kitchen items as I have a kitchen too full now. Periodically donate some items that I find I really no longer use or find useful. I looked at Amazon also, but found nothing that I have a need for, so far, lol. Our weather is finally fairly nice, sunny and not too hot, I think the high today is going to be around 85-90 degrees, with a bit lower humidity as well, so that is great, for me. I have been out doing more weeding (story of my life, apparently, lol). Came in for a break and will head back out shortly. So sorry about all the people who have damage or lost homes due to the crazy weather situations lately. Especially those with no insurance coverage. So sad. The summer really is passing very quickly, seems it just was early spring, now here we are in mid July. Wow. I don't think I have accomplished much either, although I have stayed busy, but could have been more productive in my busy-ness. I got nothing exciting goin on, so here's hoping everyone has a great day. Waving to everyone.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 15)

Good Morning!   Thanks for getting us started, Jean.  I am having the cars oil changed in this morning, so I don't have time to post much now.

It is very cloudy here, and we just had a brief shower.  Glad your area was spared significant damage, Jean.  But, I am sorry others had so much damage and no flood insurance.  Amazon Prime Day is a big disappointment so far.

I saw on FB that Kathleen's DH isn't thrilled with his new job.  I am glad you are not worrying yet, Kathleen, and good luck with your job interviews.  I hope both of you can find jobs that you enjoy.  By the way, my SIL still loves her new job, despite the low pay.  I'm so happy she finally found a job she likes.

I'll be back, but in the meantime, have a good day everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 15)

Hi everyone, not much going on around here today.  Just the same chores.  I've been tempted by temptations (hee hee) over the years, but I'm glad that I've resisted.  Not that it's not nice, but I don't have any need for it, or any room to store it.

The past couple of days I've been making use of Daisy's milk.  I only get about 2 cups each evening, which isn't enough to make cheese  (need MUCH more than that.)  But I've had some chocolate milk, and I made some pudding.  I like my Daisy brand pudding!

My DC are in Rome.  They saw the public part of the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel yesterday, and the Spanish Steps, but the Trevi Fountain is being reconstructed.  I think they're planning on seeing the Coliseum and other ancient sites today.

Snicks--Those all day feaured programming gets a little old but I guess it does provide the opportunity for those with limited viewing hours to see the "featured goodies." Your weather sounds good, perfect for outdoors work. When it dries off, I need to do some of that myself.

Linda--I do hope the oil change goes well as they usually do. I will be taking my car to the city on Friday for an oil change and a quick all points inspection that they do during each oil change and lube job. I hope there aren't any surprises.  Like you, I hope Kathleen and her DH find jobs that really appeal to them. Sometimes, things look so good during the initial hiring but experience paints a different picture.

Charlene--Your DC continue to have a wonderful experience and I know that you enjoy their updates. You are making great use of the goat milk.

I'm watching a movie streamed from Netflix right now, and when finished will be having my usual Kindle time with Midnight. If Amazon had a good special on the new Kindle e-readers, I might have bought. I can always wait as my old faithful Kindle Keyboard is still functioning.

.I have to admit I really love my latest picture I posted yesterday on FB. It is amazing how such a casual quick take can result in a great pic.It also continues to amaze me how many people on FB have been folloiwng my "soap opera."  Hopefully, that is nearing an end but it is great to know such a large number of people have been in my corner.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 15)

Forgot to mention...our newspaper had an article this morning about how QVC is building a huge warehouse facility in Ontario CA (a city about 60 miles NW of me).  It will eventually employ 1,000 people and will handle 20% of QVC's shipping. ( Gee, maybe now it won't take 10-14 days for me to receive my items!)  Ontario also has a huge outlet mall, so I'm hoping that maybe QVC will open an outlet store there someday.  Not that I'm willing to drive that far very often, but it'll be interesting to see how things play out.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 15)

hello Ladies cloudy day here we have flash flood warnings out for this afternoon....we had rain yesterday too.

how's your mouth doing today Snicks? I don't think I have done anything productive so far this summer either....except donate a few bags of summer clothes to good will.

The summer is flying by Jean... I wish the winter would go by fast too but that never seems to happen. Sorry about all the floods in your area and happy that you were spared.

I hope Bernie is having a great time today and also Twinny on her mini- vacation.
Charlene your DC look to being seeing a lot of sights. I remember when we had gone to Trevi Fountain a bird pooped on my DS's head which is supposed to be good luck and he will return some day...well he hasn't but I have so maybe it was meant for me but the bird missed!

I checked out Amazon too LindaL and didn't see anything interesting.....maybe the items will get better as the day goes on.....I will probably forget to check back later.

I had run out to the store this morning and bought a BBQ chicken for supper tonight....I have to think of something to go with it. Kathkeen how is your mouth doing today?
Have a nice afternoon everyone......Marijane

Marijane--I spent some time on Amazon looking at the upcoming deals and the time they would become active. I did see one very nice pet carrier that was 50% sold out. I spent about five minutes reading reviews at which time it had sold out. According to MSN, many are unhappy with the deals as they are not on the products they wanted. Such is life!!  The BBQ chicken for dinner sounds great!!

Marijane--I believe you posted this on FB:

St. Swithin’s Day Weather Lore: If on St. Swithin’s Day (July 15) ye do rain, for forty days it will remain.

This is the current reality:

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 15)

Hi girls!

It's another hot, sunny day after some beautiful storms last night - that is, the lightning and the sunset were absolutely gorgeous.  I ended up taking Autumn for a ride - I got her a small yogurt at Sweet Frog which filled up the punch card, so I got a regular-sized one for me for free.  I like their product, but they're too expensive so I won't be going back any time soon. - I only got about a half cup for Autumn, but it was over $2. Cat Surprised  Afterwards I stopped at Publix as I had a craving for bialys and I was good - only got a few things and spent about $12.

I wasn't at all impressed with the Prime Day offerings on Amazon; didn't see anything that I needed or wanted or that even interested me; some things seems to be selling out very quickly, so I guess there are lots of people with nothing better to do but sit around and see what deals come up.  I did use part of the gift card my friend sent and ordered a few bags of kibble, some dog bones, and paper towels - I go through them very quickly, with these bad kitties, even though I use the dish towels to wipe down the counters and such.

At one time I'd have been really interested in an all-day kitchen show, but I have gadgets and "toys" I've yet to use, and it's been a long time since QVC had anything unique that I couldn't find elsewhere at a better price.

Charlene, the Temptations come in some beautiful designs, but if you ever look at the cooking forum a lot of people have had problems with it, such as cracking when it's in the oven.  Apparently customer service isn't at all helpful.

Turns out I have to go back to Sam's Club and return the flavored water drinks I purchased.  I read the ingredients and didn't see anything "bad" on them, then I had one and started feeling really weird a few hours later.  I didn't make the connection at first, but I got another one out and saw an inconspicuous logo on the label:  "Sweetened With Splenda."  I wouldn't drink that poison even if it didn't affect me, so...back it goes!

Today is Bible study night, but first I have to pick up my pacakges at the PO (my free goodies from The Webstaurant Store) and have to pay my mortgage.  I have watermelon cupcakes in the oven; tonight I MUST get the dining room rug shampooed as "someone" has been very naughty and pooping on it; I have to figure out who. Cat Mad

Hope you're having a fun day, Bird, and staying safe.

I guess I should get moving; hope you all have a blessed day.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 15)

Hi Snicks, Charlene, Marijane, Arlene, pinky ann, Bernie (hope you had fun doing your volunteer work today), Gayle (hope it is a better day), Kathleen, Susan, LindaR, twinny (hope you are having fun), Karen, Rosa, and all of our posters and readers.

No problems with the oil change and tire rotation.  I had a credit from buying tires, so there was no charge, which made it even better.

I went into the 99 cent store, but they had very little produce, which is what I wanted.  Then, DH and I went to Wal-Mart and bought a bunch of things (groceries, toothpaste, etc.)

We had a nice walk this morning, and then I went to the old Curves because they had a T-shirt waiting for me (I earned the T-shirt for doing 200 workouts).  The owner and I had a nice talk -- such a nice lady.  They quoted her in the local newspaper saying that she felt she let the ladies down.  I know that she bought the franchise since she had good results from Curves, and some of the ladies will probably not be able to find a different place to workout.  I know that some of them had to be escorted from machine to machine due to health issues, and she was telling me one of the ladies who came this morning has macular degeneration, so probably won't be able to find another gym that works for her.

I guess everyone is tired of hearing about Curves, so I'll try to hush up now.  LOL

Yesterday at the gym I saw the personal trainer I used a few years ago, and I will try to work out a couple of sessions with her -- I want to make sure that I'm using the new machines properly and see if she recommends others for me to use.

I don't need more kitchen items, so I guess I'm safe from temptation today.  But, I do have a set of the Temptations casseroles (they both have stands and inserts), and so far so good -- I use them a lot and they have not broken.  I do see many complaints on the boards, however.

Not sure what I'll do this afternoon, but I need to do some exercising for sure.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda
