Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 10)

[ Edited ]

@2blondeor Laura, I'm not sure but I don't think it is going to  hit that temperature or even heat index. I just went to the Post Office and then the supermarket; it was hot but comfortable with the breezes. I tolerate heat well, however. I hope your eye appointment goes well. Our sight is so important.

Bernie-- watering the lawn or trees is something I rarely have to do. If you spend a forture on pruning, then it makes sense to ensure they are watered especially if there are no water restrictions.

Twinny--It sounds as if you found a great deal on the skorts at Kohls and enjoy wearing them. A good buy can justify another purchase. Enjoy the polka band. Going to Alaska for the Summer to escape the heat? I read recently it had temps higher than in some places in the lower 48.

I went to the Post Office and then the supermarket as it had an in-store special on ice cream which was a significant savings. I rarely buy it but the cost and the temps made it a good buy. On free shipping day, I ordered another set of the QF Biig Deal top that worked so well. I received it today in the mail.

I'm having salad for lunch and also watching the Weather Channel coverage of the flooding in New Orleans and the rain..

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 10)

Good Morning/Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Jean.  Sorry lunch was a disappointment yesterday.  I enjoy the BK whoppers myself also the Carl's Jr. broiled hamburgers.  I know the weeds will be back in full force once we have our "monsoon" rains, but we haven't had any so far.  It is hot here -- should make it to 104 or higher with low humidity.  Like you, I can tolerate the heat pretty well, particularly if it is not too humid.  But, I need the AC at night.  Good time to buy ice cream.  DH used to like it year-round, but I only enjoy it when it is hot outside.

Good luck with the retina specialist, Laura.  Hope it doesn't get too hot for you, twinny, Bernie, and all who don't enjoy the heat.

I remember using the sprinkler when I lived in Maryland, Bernie.  It did attract birds, which was nice.  Now that I live in the desert, I try to use as little water as possible -- find plants that don't need watering.  Of course, I also have a "stone" yard rather than grass.

You certainly have been busy, twinny.  Glad you had such a nice time with your family.  Good luck with all those medical appointments.

I had an early appointment to have my oil changed, so I took my walk earlier than normal (also shorter than normal).  Unfortunately, the garage found that I needed several other things done -- like the timing belt, spark plugs, water pump, etc.  The car is 10 years old, and I guess time takes its toll.  The car doesn't have many miles on it, but.....  Anyway, the expected oil change has morphed into a major tune up.  The garage is honest, so I trust that this is needed.  The owner told me that the car will probably be good for many more years after the work is done -- at least for these parts.  He drove me home since it will take a while to complete the work.  I'll be getting the car back this afternoon.

Definitely not a time to be treating myself to things like beautiful rings or necklaces, but that is okay.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

@KonaKat    You really sound like my kind of girl.  You're not bothered by the heat (neither am I), and you like salads and ice cream!  I'll bet you have a harder time with the cold than with the heat, like me.

@LindaLatte   I just wanted to say that I'm like your DH.......I eat ice cream every evening every day of the year!  I try to keep the portion small, of course.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, JULY 10)

Linda--I do hope the unexpected car repairs will last for a long time. It is good that you mentioned this because I saw last week that I was approaching the time for an oil change. I just called to get an appointment which I couldn't get until Tuesday. Like you and your place, I trust this service department.

@2blondeor Laura, if there was a season that could be deleted from the calendar it would be Winter. Not only the cold, but the shortage of daylight. I live close enough to you that I get the reports of "lake effect snow," We usually don't  have huge amounts of snow but enough to make travel on crooked roads a challenge. Our county or district is good about taking care of the main roads but the adjoining counties are not as good.

Midnight spent the afternoon curled up beside me while I read. I'm now watching the Weather Channel and news. I see thunderstorms are expected for us on Thursday and Friday.
