SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12th)

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Another hot day here (with highs in the low 100's predicted), but starting tomorrow until Sunday night we have excessive heat warnings -- yikes!  We may have record temperatures for this time of the year.  Usually, July and August are cooler months than June due to the "monsoon" rains, but not this year.  I was hopeful yesterday evening when we had some thunder, but that was it -- no rain.

I think it was Windows that did an update today, and I spent a bunch of time trying to get my bookmarks, etc. back.  That involved a lot of texts and e-mails since the companies did not recognize the computer.  Very irritating at best.

The mice-repellent idea appeals to me as well, Bernie.  I was told to set traps for the packrats here, but the idea of finding dead or dying animals upset me too much to do so.

The dove is still sitting on the nest over my outside light, so maybe this baby will make it.

Nothing at all exciting going on here.  I have an Amazon order coming today -- more of the fabric storage boxes (for my clothes closet) and some blank cards since I have not felt safe going to the card store or even the Dollar store in months.  In one way, this is good because I can express my feelings without having to look for a card that does so.

Sorry you have some house repair projects on the agenda, Jean.  Definitely puts a dent on "fun" spending.  Speaking of which, the carpet store called this morning to schedule the carpet installation -- two weeks.  The carpet isn't in yet, but they wanted to get me on the installation schedule.

Hope everyone has a nice day and stays safe.  Please post if you have a chance.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12th)

Hi Everyone!

It's in the 90's and high humidity. Rain is in the forecast for today and more 90 temps for the remainder of the thru next week. UGH!!!!

I have put weeding on the weekend list so I have my fingers crossed that I can get that under control. I noticed that the patio garden needs some attention as well so hopefully I'll be able to tackle that one evening this week. We have the follow up vet's appointment tonight for our female's paw infection. It's much improved but still looks a bit swollen to me. It doesn't stop her from chasing the ball or running up an down the steps. I'm taking that as a good sign.

Today is Dyson day and dust mopping the upper level. I sure know how to have a good time. I'm not sure if I'll tackle the lower level today. I usually like to pace myself escpecially when we have appointments. My breathing seems to aggrivate my other systems and then the appointments become difficult to keep.

I was lucky to have the dogs out when I saw a large size hummingbird on the patio planters. I have honeysuckle back there and they love it. Just love to see those pretty little birds. They sure work hard. Last nigh we had the doe and two fawns getting a drink from the birdbath next to the garage. I have birdbaths at every corner of the property because the deer and the birds each have a preference. I have a fountain basin on the ground for the other critters so they don't attempt to climb any thing for water. I read that as a "tip" years ago and it certainly has helped with that problem.

I haven't caved with the clearnace sales....( so far) but if I finally get the ironing/steaming accomplished and get into that closet ....anything is possible. LOL

It looks like tomorrow may be a Valerie Fall day. Dang it....I have a doctor's appointment so I'll miss most of it. I took a quick look at the storage rooms on the "waiting list" so that should stop me from pressing "order"  tomorrow. At least...that's my plan.

Stay safe & comfy and enjoy your sale finds. It sounds like a few of you got some great deals. I love a good sale. (I think there's a gene for that....)

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12th)

Linda--Thank you for starting the thread. It is frustrating when a company doesnt recognize your computer after an update. So far I've been successful at providing the correct answers to their questions, such as favorite ice cream, first car, etc. I know  you wlll enjoy it once the carpet is installed.

Fressa--I hope the infection in your female dog is taken care of easily to your relief. The rain will make the weeds flourish. Good job on not caving on the clearance sales Sorry you will miss Valerie during your appointment..

I took a car load of things to the city for donation. I didn't feel well when I left and now I feel very tired. The coffee isn't helping.
