SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WED., OCT 2)

Good morning, shopping friends. I am home from the procedure and all went well. Let's hope this keeps me in rhythm and at a reasonable heart rate for a long time. Obvioiusly, I didn't know anything when it was done but the stuff they used put me out within a minute or two after being put in the IV. After the procedure, we went for breakfast and then back to the hotel. I laid down to rest and awakened 3 hours later. Despite that, I had no problems sleeping last night. I do have some red areas from where the patches and electrodes were placed for the "shocking."

I was tempted to go to WalMart and shop the early hours before coming home but was concerned I might be pushing it. The cat was happy to see me when I got home, and I saw that he had eaten almost all the food I had left for him as well as drinking nearly all his water. I think I am more concerned about the cat than myself. I go back for a checkup in two weeks.

I did see a little of QVC while gone and did like a pair of Clarks I saw presented. I just told myself I had no need for more shoes and let the urge pass.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WED., OCT 2)

Hello Jean!  I'm so glad to hear your procedure went well.  You can imagine how your cat must have felt when you came back.  I'm sure he was concerned (if cats can be concerned) that you were going to be gone again for awhile.  If he's anything like my cat, the empty food dish and water was a big worry for him too!  Whatever else he may do, my cat always has a warm welcome for me when I enter the back door at the end of the day!

I have my 6-week appointment with the retina doctor this afternoon, so I'll be leaving work early for that.  I've had 5 prednisone shots in my left eye already, and the vision is still getting worse.  The last time I was there it was 20/50, where the right eye (thankfully) is 20/20.  He said he could give me a shot right into the eyeball (intraocular) that should probably do the trick.  I'll see what he says today, but my depth perception is pretty bad now, which makes driving a bit of a challenge, and I keep bumping into things!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WED., OCT 2)

I'm glad your procedure went well and you're recovery was better than exoected, Hopefully you will finally have some relief and the worry will fade.

QVC does seem to be the new "white noise" for some of us when we're recovering or sick. I find that it's one of the few channels that dulls me to sleep. The dogs seem to like it because they start snoring shortly after I tune in late night. LOL

The window candles that I ordered arrived yesterday. I could kick myself that I did not order two sets (again) but I will work with what I have. I really had no idea that my old candles were in such bad shape. A few of them cracked apart in my hand and I thought i was so lucky I didn't have a fire or something. We've had a lot of trees taken down the last two years and our neighbor has almost wiped out one entire section of the woods. I'm not crazy about taking trees down but ours were dead or hanging on the roof. The amount of heat and sunlight from the tree loss has been quite the adjustment.

Pier 1 was having a sale and I had a coupon so I cracked and ordered two glass pumpkins and a set of candles. I love the glass pumpkins and decidded to treat myself especially since the price was so good. I have been looking at their flamelss candles and they seem to have good reviews. They look similiar to the Candle Impressions. I saw a set of two on sale with a marble look so I picked those up. I'll try to remember to post a review once I have them for awhile.

It's been in the 90's here for days and we are finally suppose to get a break in temps starting Friday. I hope so. I'm hoping to get caught up on all my doctor and lab appointments. This hot, humid weather is just awful on my breathing, etc.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Good Morning Jean @KonaKat   I'm so glad that you are back home and that the procedure went well.   I bet Midnight was happy to see you and it's encouraging that he ate nearly all of his food. Heart

Wow @2blonde it seems like just yesterday that you saw the retina specialist.  I hope this doesn't offend, I'm saying a prayer for you today.

Hi @Fressa

I'm so happy to read that the window candles were winners.  We hit 89 degrees yesterday and broke the October 1 record.  The temps are diving as I type this and we'll be lucky to reach 60's by the end of a week.

These temp highs and lows are like riding a rollercoaster.

@Bird mama   Yes, it's been exactly 6 weeks since I was at the retina doc.  It's become a regular appt. that we set up before I even walk out their door, because the inflamation in my eye keeps returning.  The last few shots haven't really made any improvement in my vision though.

I'd really like to go back there a week or so after a shot, just to see if it makes the inflamation go down.  I can't really tell, since my vision doesn't improve much.  An intraocular shot sounds kind of scary, but I trust this guy (he did my retinal re-attachment surgery), so if he says so, I will do it.  I don't know what's involved.....I'll let you know after I see him today.  What a mess this whole cataract surgery (over 2 years ago) has turned into.

I most certainly won't be offended if you offer up a prayer for me.  I've been having some conversations with the man upstairs myself, and I'm still confident He'll get me through this!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WED., OCT 2)

Very happy you are back home, Jean.  I really hope the procedure did the trick and your heart gets back to normal.

I wrote quite a bit about my trip on the other thread.  Basically, it was a long trip and I was very tired yesterday.  But, it is beautiful here, and the food, lectures, tours, etc. are great.  I never went to this area (Riva deal Garda) before, but I knew the other lakes were beautiful, and this is the same.

While I would like to respond to all of your posts, I am in desperate need for coffee at the moment.  So, I am sending my best wishes to all of you.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. It is rainy here today (off and on), but not too hot or too cold outside at the moment.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WED., OCT 2)

Need to go down for dinner soon (we are six hours before Q time), but I did get a coffee. It is cooler here and mostly cloudy, but no rain.  DD told me that it is very hot in Maryland.  Hopefully, it will cool down soon.
